The River's Edge campsites sit on the shoreline of the Delaware River at the western edge of New York State overlooking the mountains of Pennsylvania. Our canvas tents and open air platforms perch between the river and the former Delaware & Hudson Canal which was once was used to transport raw goods by barge to New York City via the 'port' of Port Jervis. The remnants of the canal walls are throughout the property including a 300 person theater which we created to both preserve and feature this industrial history. It also makes a great place for an event or a movie night. Today, the original canal towpath, along which barges would be pulled and floated downstream, is a trail that links all of the campsites over 5 acres and at the furthest end an eel fishing camp that is in operation from June to October (say 'hi' to Jim). In the early 1900s, the train replaced the canal as the primary method of moving goods into New York and if you are lucky — you will hear the train rumble by along the river on the Pennsylvania side. There is something spectacular in the absolute still and grandness of the river, the mountains and the ongoing industrial history of the valley. It is a reminder of the way things used to be.

Forest Overlook
Great hillside campsite!
Great campsite! This site is more secluded than the other sites, which is what we preferred. Short walk or drive to the river. We brought kayaks and dropped in at Lackawaxen and paddled to the campsite. It was a good 4-5 hour run. Even stopped for ice cream along the way. Owner is super helpful and full of knowledge. We will be back.

Absolutely beautiful
This was such a beautiful trip, the weather was just perfect, very easy to get there and to find the spot , the tent was comfy and was nice to wake up looking at the River , everything you needed was there , My only opinion would be to maybe move the toilet tent to a different location, other campers were using our toilet tent , but overall I would still give the AAA+++ Rating

Second time here, Thomas is easy to deal with, the site was perfect for me, plenty of beautiful country roads to ride around, a major plus is access to the river to fish, if you love to fish it doesnt get easier

A must go!
We’ve been to this site twice. And we love it! We are trying to make this an annual thing. I really love the place. No service means time to bond with family & friends without distractions. The kids love it as well. Thomas is so kind and easy to talk to. Best host!!!!

Forest Overlook
Great experience.
Loved camping here. The place was very organised with all the mentioned amenities. The host was very helpful and provided us with a few extra things too. Very nice experience.
