The Cabin, Wood-Fired Sauna, and Meadow campsites at Montside Orchard boast one of the most magical sunset views in the Cumberland Valley. You can also expect to see a daily show of wildlife—herds of white tail deer, wild turkeys and hundreds of wild birds make Montside Orchard their home! Bring your binoculars--it's a wooded wonderland! The Cabin is hugged by woodlands at the back and bucolic green hills dotted with orchards and small farms out the front. Yet within 15 minutes you will have arrived in quaint, well appointed downtown Chambersburg-- a small town bursting with good art and good food! We are also conveniently located 10 minutes from I-81, a major North/South interstate and 10 minutes from Rt 30. While we don't allow hiking on the property Rt 30 takes you into Micheaux Forest, the Appalachian Trail and Caledonia State Park within 15 min and the historic Gettysburg National Park within 35. White Tail Ski Resort is 40 minutes South and Ski Liberty is 40 miles East.

The meadow is shaded by a tree line on one side and buffered by a hillock on the other while still offering magnificent sunset views. We can provide picnic style seating, per request, and a portable fire pit when there are no active burn bans. You will have access to a shared composting toilet, as needed--please indicate if you will be needing it so we can have it prepared for you! While there are no electrical hookups, potable water can also be requested in advance.

Hello & Welcome! ✨PLEASE READ TO THE END FOR A COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW✨ The Squirrel Hill Micro Cabin is perfectly situated under a matriarchal cherry tree, on the edge of 30 acres of woodlands in the North Appalachian Blue Ridge Mountains. The front wall of our rustic, OFF GRID, micro cabin is entirely glass which affords an abundance of shaded natural light while also being quite secluded. The cozy space offers a priceless view of Montside’s quirky wildlife community, juxtaposed against the most magical sunsets the Cumberland Valley has to offer!. The cabin boasts a rare Jotul woodstove which can quickly turn the space into a sauna (as a hip camp add-on). There is a composting toilet within 25 yards of the cabin door. THiNGS TO NOTE: 1. OFF GRID means there is NO AC, WiFi, or RUNNING WATER. 2. There are no curtains covering the glass wall as the cabin also functions as a sauna. 3. There is one other campsite on the property that will use a separate path to the shared composting toilet (instructions below). 4. We provide a lantern for the path to the toilet, but we recommend bringing a head lamp as well. 5. . The cabin features a cedar framed cot-sized platform bed w mattress. PLEASE BRING appropriate bedding to suit your needs. 6.. There is power for a small electric fan and/or charging devices. 7.. There is no water source but potable water can be requested in advance. ++ COMPOSTING TOILET INSTRUCTIONS ++ ALL FOLX using the toilet must be seated for ALL functions. There is very cool 3-D printed urine diverter on the front of the unit that should be used for ALL URINE. When using the toilet for SOLID MATTER, please ++carefully++ scoop enough organic matter (from the white bin) to cover waste into the REAR TOILET CHAMBER ONLY.

Montside Meadow Campsite
Great place to tent camp on the land. Was awesome to sit out and read a book or watch the sunset. A lot of local hiking trails and places to explore in the nearby forests. Post was super communicative and very kind when we chatted. The space may be a little closer to the owner's property than some people would like, but I certainly didn't mind!

My friend and I needed a last minute place to stay while biking in Michaux. Katie was quick to respond and happy to accommodate us on short notice. Communication was great and instructions were clear. It was a beautiful sunset. Thanks so much for having us.

Gorgeous, quiet spot on the edge of the meadow. Perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. Host was quick to respond and very accommodating of a last minute booking request.

I tent camped and it was awesome! Kaite was very responsive in communicating with me about my visit. As a single female camper, I felt very safe but had privacy. It is close to 81 so it is very convenient on and off the highway. I will definitely stay again!

Montside Meadow Campsite
We had a beautiful visit in Katie’s land. The view was wonderful! We arrived very late due to traffic congestion so we missed the sunset but we had a full moon! Kaite met us when we arrived and showed us around even though it was so late. She had a table all set up with a string of lights that made the area very romantic. I would highly recommend this location for any hip campers.

Montside Meadow Campsite
This is a very beautiful campsite. I enjoyed the peaceful countryside, sleeping beside a wheat field on a hill that overlooked the valley farmlands below. I enjoyed a campfire and solar powered lights. The host was friendly and caring. Privacy was excellent. It will be a wonderful memory on my cross country bicycle journey.

Peaceful Night at Montside Meadows

Montside Meadow Campsite
I stopped over for the night at Montside Meadows on my way down to run the Allegheny Discovery Route though the Monongahela National Forest. This was a perfect place to meet up with a friend coming in from another direction so we could rest up and hit the road early. Kaite was very gracious and accommodating, it was a pleasure to spend the night on her beautiful property. We were close enough to the house to know we weren't wild camping but we had a nice field, all to ourselves, and it felt safe and private. The location can't be beat for it's proximity to the highway, you can be off the road and up at camp in minutes. I would highly recommend Kaite's property at Montside Meadows to anyone coming through this area!

Montside Meadow Campsite
We stayed here one night on the outbound portion of our trip and one night on our return. It is less than 10 minutes from highway 81. Easy to find. It was peaceful and quiet with a great view. We greatly appreciated the opportunity to stay here.

A new experience
Squirrel Hill Micro Cabin & Sauna
Kaite is a good host. The cabin is in good shape. If you don't mind cheap monks running around the roof, you will be all right. If you are using the boiler to heat the room, I recommend put 1 or 2 logs per time, don't go over 3 because the temperature will hit so high. The space is small, for one person, but you can find peace and reflection there, and also a beautiful sky with thousands of stars.

We spent a peaceful night at Kaite’s place! It was quiet with a beautiful sunset. The campsite is very close to the house so it’s perfect for those looking for an easygoing and very safe feeling night outside, but maybe less suited for people looking for a more isolated spot.

Super Fun!
Squirrel Hill Micro Cabin & Sauna
The micro cabin was great! Had a great time with my 7 year old. The compost toilet is a stones throw away. There's electricity so we were able to stay connected and charged. It rained off and on but there's a beautiful tree canopy over the cabin and it made for a great movie night! Definitely a respite worth another visit!!!
