Camp Dietrich on Bear Creek

What a magical two nights at Camp Dietrich!! Scott was an incredible host and very responsive. The campsite was very clean, the tents were comfortable, and space was private and large enough for our family of six and a dog. The trails and swimming hole were a special treat. If you’re considering this place - book it!! You won’t regret it!

The camp site was beautiful. It was very secluded and peaceful. The trails were marked and the waterfall is a must see. It was perfect for my family, including the kids 6&12.. They loved the zip line and the hiking. It’s definitely camping made easy.

The location was set up with everything you need camping. Extremely private, it felt like we were the only ones there. Scott provided maps guiding us to waterfalls and marked trails throughout the property.

I loved this campsite! It was clean, quiet, huge and well equipped. The creek running right alongside it was so peaceful and pretty and we had a great time exploring the grounds. The hosts were also super nice and helpful! Would definitely stay again!!

Everything about this trip was above and beyond what we expected. Pictures don't do it justice; you just have to go. The property is beautiful, private and peaceful. Scott has thought of everything, there are plenty of supplies to borrow or buy if you forget anything. If you're used to tent camping, compared to most places this will feel like glamping. There's trails to explore around the property, plus parks nearby and the town of Jim Thorpe is about 15 minutes away. Even though it rained the entire weekend, my family still had a great time, and we're all looking forward to coming back!

Loved it! We went camping with our extended family ranging in ages 65 to 1 and there was something for everyone. The creek was stunning and refreshing, the camp site had everything we needed and more and hosts were so friendly and responsive.

You gotta try GLAMPING!

Fantastic Introduction to GLAMPING! Our family of 12 (with children 6,4,3,and 1 year old) had a wonderful time with all that there is to do here. Location is simply stunning with all of the natural rhododendron and the creek within the site. Scott and his wife were more than accomidating as we arrived, gave a tour of site, and really thought of everything you may need or forgot! Beds were warm and comfortable, firepit worked great and the dining area served us well as it did rain upon first arrival. The hiking trails and maps are excellent, although with 4 young children we stayed mostly at the falls and swimming hole. They have set up just enough of a playground and zip line for the kids to keep them wanting more in the morning. We even got to see a bear one morning and the evening's nightengal calls were simply beautiful. Highly recommend and will be back for certain!

Heavenly Retreat!

Camp Dietrich is absolutely beautiful and a true retreat. Scott is a warm and welcoming host and the site has everything that you need for outdoor cooking and relaxing right by the creek. The property has its own hiking trails, complete with waterfalls and swimming holes. I would give this site more than 5 stars if I could. Keep an eye out for the resident grouse if you go! 💚

The site was beautiful with the surrounding nature, the hiking was fantastic especially the waterfall, the owners were incredibly accommodating and friendly. We felt safe and comfortable the whole time. I highly recommend it to anybody with family and friends to get away from daily life.

Scott and Christina have cultivated such a beautiful and special space with Camp Dietrich. It was truly remarkable. Scott told me while showing me around the site that they wanted to make camping easy, and they sure did. They provided almost every amenity you could possible need while camping. On top of that the site was absolutely beautiful and well maintained. We’re all very lucky that Scott and Christina wanted to share this slice of heaven with the rest of us. I can’t wait to go back.

This is absolutely a 5/5 experience. Campsites are located along a beautiful mountain stream running through a lush rhododendron forest. The queen bunks and grill really bring camping to the next level but don’t let that fool you into thinking this is not the wilderness! A short hike from the site leads to a waterfall and swimming hole. Really a magical place. We will return!

The Best

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. Great people with attention to detail, gorgeous location, family or non-family friendly. I've camped/lived in the woods doing biological research, and this was rustic enough with some perks. It was raining endlessly after our first day, and our 5 year olds had to be dragged out because they loved it so much. If this place is amazing in a downpour, I can only imagine how great it is in the sunshine. Don't hesitate - book. Thank you so much to Scott and Christina - we are planning our do-over as we speak.

Great stay in May at Camp Dietrich

Our family of four had a great stay! We stayed at A Creek Runs Through It and definitely recommend it. All sites are on the creek and completely private which we loved. It had rained a lot the week before and the creek was roaring! The grounds and property are beautiful and we loved exploring the trails. The shed and site had everything we needed to make camping easy. We had both beds made up and they were comfortable with very cozy fleece blankets too. Scott, Christina, and one son we met were all so welcoming and enjoy sharing their land and knowledge with you. We will definitely be back!

We will return!

What a delight! We were two friends visiting for 2 nights, and it was perfect. Even though we visited at the very beginning of the season, there is lots of greenery on account of the evergreen rhododendrons. The site was very spacious and private. Scott was a fantastic host and the amenities were top notch. Would love to return when the creek is a little warmer (although a cold plunge by the waterfall was great too!). Several scenic trails on premises, looking forward to returning to hike them all.

Absolutely beautiful land in the fall, I’d be curious to see it in the spring. our campsite was private and had all the essentials we needed. Scott gave us a tour and talked us through hiking the trails on the map which was very helpful. Trails were clearly marked and a bit challenging in places for a fun challenge. We enjoyed our stay and will plan to return. Please be aware we had no reception at the campsite. There were patches while walking towards the check in shed that had some service, but be prepared for a fully unplugged experience!

There was a fire ban the day we showed up to camp. Scott was nice enough to immediately buy a new propane fire pit and set it up for us to use. It was an extremely kind and considerate gesture. Highly recommend this place!

We loved our stay at Camp Dietrich! We stayed at the Bear Creek Hideaway site. Starting off, the location was easy to find. Scott welcomed us at the Check Point shed and showed us a bunch of supplies available to us before leading the way to our site and helping us unload the car. He explained everything we’d need to know about the property, wildlife, amenities, and nearby town. The site was amazing with a super nice tent, fire pit, shower and toilet, and dining area along with the creek rushing by only a few feet away. We went in the fall and I can only imagine how amazing it would be to visit in the summer and be able to dip into the water right there. We brought our own bedding (sheet, comforter, pillows, and blanket) and were super cozy at night with the buddy heater on. The campsite was very private and we never heard or saw anyone else. We didn’t get to stay for long, but we did one hike over to the falls / swimming hole which was so beautiful. Again, I can only imagine how amazing it would be to visit in the summer! I’d highly recommend Camp Dietrich and would love to come back myself!

It was a beautiful secluded camping spot with all the amenities for a proper "glamping" experience! Scott was very friendly and helpful on check in, and it felt like we had an "insta" camp set up upon arrival, all we had to do was make our bed and light the fire!

We loved camping on Scott and Christinas property! Everything was perfect! It made packing for camping a breeze! We slept so well in the bunk beds and were very thankful for the heater! They were both attentive and super friendly! The hiking trails are awesome, and the property is just beautiful! We will definitely be back in the summer to do some swimming by the waterfalls!

We loved staying at Camp Dietrich. The camp site was secluded, beautiful, and well maintained. My husband and I love to camp and have all the gear-we were surprised to see we didn’t need the majority of our gear. They had lanterns, cooking equipment, a heater in the tent. Scott was a great host-had maps of his hiking trails and showed us around. We would definitely go back

Scott’s place is special. You won’t be disappointed. The campsites are exceptionally well planned and outfitted, with outstanding provisions, for example: kindling, cookware, lanterns, and much more. The waterways on the property provide the magic of the setting and the experience. Scott is a most generous and hospitable host.
