Camp Dietrich on Bear Creek

My boyfriend, dog, and I stayed for two nights at “a creek runs through it” and had a wonderful time. Scott was incredibly friendly and helpful. If you forgot to pack something, there’s a good chance you can borrow it from the check point shed. The site itself was gorgeous and very private. You really can “be one with nature” here. I look forward to visiting again once it warms up, to fully take advantage of the creek and some swimming. Highly recommend this place. Thank you to the Dietrich’s for a wonderful experience!

Our girls camping trip to Camp Dietrich this weekend was amazing. Scott met us upon arrival and gave us a full rundown of the campground! The checkpoint shed had everything we needed, wood was ready to buy, and the Coleman stove made cooking every meal so easy. The creek beside our campsite was absolutely magical, and yes, I even took a cold plunge. The tent was super spacious, comfy bunk beds, and the heater kept us warm all night. We hiked to the waterfalls on-site, which were unreal. Already counting down to bringing the kids this summer. Highly recommend, 10/10.

The property is BEAUTIFUL and the camp site is very well equipped! And Scott is an incredible host. My kids loved camping there, hiking the trails, using the zip line, and seeing the waterfalls.

Everything You Need!

Amazing hosts and location. The campsite was clean and ready for us when we arrived, the place is very well maintained. The tent was dry and held heat well- although there's a propane heater, we didn't need it despite the temps being in the 40s at night. It rained a lot the first night but the tent remained dry thanks to the additional covering over the tent area. The foam mattresses were extremely comfortable. I live with chronic back pain and slept very well. The bedding was clean and plenty warm enough (sheets, comforter, extra large fleece blanket). There is a camping lamp provided for the tent, covered area, and bathroom. There are 4 camping chairs beneath each bed in the tent and some extra in the supply shed. I read reviews that said you really only need to bring your clothes and food...that's pretty much right. The supply shed has just about everything else you need. The place was so serene, we didn't see or hear anyone else, only the sound of the moving water. The hosts were amazing and even provided us with additional items we forgot and pumped my flat tire when we were ready to leave. I've already booked it again for next year!

Great set up! I didn’t need to bring anywhere near as much as I did, they have a lot there for you. I wish I had packed more shoes/socks because my kids played by the water and jumped around on the rocks almost the entire time. Single mom here and have to say I felt very safe/comfortable camping at this site with my 3 kids (ages 6, 10, & 12).

Sublime beauty

I had a wonderful time on this beautiful piece of land. The owners were helpful, kind, and welcoming. The pictures do not do the beauty of the water and forest justice. It’s truly a sight to behold. You will not regret staying here.

Best Camping trip yet!

We had a great time camping with our two Labrador retrievers at "A creek runs through it" camp site. The first thing the dogs did when we left them off the leash, was to run to the creek. We all enjoyed playing in the gentle cascading waters and their sound put us to sleep each night. We enjoyed the hiking trails that were on the property to explore. The water falls were awesome and we even took a dip in the cold spring water, cold plunge was refreshing. The private site made for a relaxing time. It was a great week but we wished we had more time here. We spent a day in Jim Thorpe and rode the train, which allowed dogs for free, each got their own ticket and the staff was super friendly with them. We look forward to coming back, Scott and Christina were great hosts, very welcoming, and had everything one would need to enjoy the great outdoors!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed in Bear Creek Hideaway at Camp Dietrich and absolutely loved it! From the beautiful creekside setting to the cozy cabin, everything was perfect. The kids had a blast exploring the boulders, waterfalls, and trails, and it quickly became one of our favorite family spots. We’ll be coming back twice a year as long as we can! Highly recommend

My dream campsite!

Incredible camping experience! We loved that everything was there for us including a comfy bed! The property and views were phenomenal to explore. We saw a bear on our first walk! So relaxing to be so close to the beautiful water. The whole visit was just dreamy. We’re excited to return and hope to catch the Rhododendrons in bloom. Retreat on Bear Creek

We had a great experience with Camp Dietrich! Scott was an absolute pleasure and made us feel comfortable and welcome. He gave us a thorough intro and helped us bring our belongings to our site. He even picked us up and gave us a ride home when he saw us walking home in the rain (with our three kids!) We loved our experience so much that we booked our next trip on our way home!

A true Gem in the Poconos!

Simply outstanding location on the creek in an enchanting setting - beautiful waterfalls and wading pool all in a very private setting. Scott is truly an incredible host greeting us and going over everything in great detail to ensure we were comfortable. His communication was great before and during our stay. He even went the extra mile loaned us the use of a toddler carry backpack which made hiking a breeze with our little guy. Every thing you could need is available. Just bring your bedding and food. We were lacking for nothing. The glampsites are tasteful, serene and private. There is even a small heater available for the chilly nights. The mattresses were surprisingly comfortable which frankly I was not expecting. Cant sing enough praise for this gem in the poconos. We will keep coming back for sure! Ayaz and Sarah.

This was truly the BEST camping experience for our family (two adults, two kids ages 6 & 8, one dog). Everything is pristine and set up in the most thoughtful and convenient way to make camping a breeze even with little kids. Both of mine were apprehensive at best before our trip and now can't wait to go camping again! The pictures of the campsite are not even close to how stunning the area is in person. The creek runs just a few feet from the campsite and is so relaxing to listen to day and night. Scott is a gracious host and even helped us get everything onto our camp to set up when we arrived. You can drive your car right to the site, which is huge. They also provide tons of items to borrow from the shed (bowls/plates, utensils, pots/pans, toys and games, etc.) They have bags of ice, power banks, propane tanks, firewood? and some other essentials for purchase in the shed. The swimming hole and waterfall across the swinging bridge are not to be missed - words really don't even do justice to how gorgeous this whole property is. As another reviewer said, JUST BOOK IT!!

Terrific host and location!!

Absolutely perfect experience. I truly cannot recommend this experience enough. Scott met us at the entrance and gave us a terrific rundown of everything we can expect, and then lead us to our site and helped get us settled in. There are a ton of genuinely top tier trails, and more than one swimming hole with an active waterfall!! I brought my sister along, and it was her first time camping. She is already planning our next camping excursion for the fall. Thank you so much, Scott, for an unforgettable experience.

My husband and I only stayed for one night and it was not enough by far!! Scott was very kind and informative on our arrival, and the amenities were perfect for us. There was a trail map and of course we took our pups down to the waterfall, which has a well maintained rope bridge and sitting area! We will be back, hopefully very soon.

Retreat on Bear Creek

I will definitely be back! The sites are very private and peaceful. They have just about anything you might need in their borrow supply shed, so if you forget something it's probably there! The canvas tents are comfy and provide plenty of space. They supply drinking water, lanterns, propane grill, cooler and more at each site. The surrounding trails and creek are beautiful. The water falls and swimming holes are stunning. I will say, each site is down a steep hill, so be prepared for lots of inclines when hiking in and out of camp. Such a unique experience I can't wait to go back.

My husband and I had an amazing time at Scott and Christina’s property. The views are breathtaking, the hiking was amazing, and our campsite was perfect. Scott and Christina are the most gracious and accommodating hosts ever. They made camping easy, even for two very busy working adults! We visited a nearby winery for wine and charcuterie, explored the forest and hiked, and went on a whitewater rafting adventure. I cannot recommend this experience enough! I even saw a black bear in the wild- a bucket list item for me 🐻

We had a lovely time at bear creek falls ! Scott was a super host, very friendly and welcomed us like family. The views of the land were breathtaking and the sound of the river was so relaxing and so peaceful that you wouldn’t want to leave. We traveled with 2 teens and 2 bunnies and the site was perfect for us , plenty of space for our bunnies to run around safely and plenty space for the kids to explore , play and reconnect with nature.

DREAM campsite!

You can’t quite grasp how much of a GEM this place is until you get there. After five minutes everyone was already talking about the next time we’re coming! Every little thing you’d need is already thought of, you really just need to grab a blanket, some pillows, and some marshmallows and go! Heads up the water is BRISK so if you have littles I’d recommend a swim shirt or something to keep them from turning into ice cubes on you if they go swimming, hahaha. Thanks again, we’ll be back!

This place is pure heaven. Scott met us at the campsite and went over all the particulars of the site and property which was great!! The site was perfect. We usually rough it when we camp so are use to no services and pitching our own tent and to have all that done already is great.the beds were comfy inside the tent was clean. The river right there and the little swimming hole beautiful. Having your own toilet is great too!!! So peaceful and quiet. A short walk or drive takes you to the star of the place!! The waterfalls!! Wow what an amazing place was a little cooler out when we went but took the plunge was refreshing!! This is the best campsite we have ever been to!! Already making plans for next year!!! Thank you Scott and Christina for sharing your beautiful property!!!

This place is truly a hidden gem, and I’m so grateful we found it! This was our third visit to Camp Dietrich, and my only regret is that we couldn’t stay longer. We were able to step away from the endless to-do lists and daily noise, and instead reconnect with each other and with nature. Our kids spent hours playing in the river without once thinking about their iPads. We hiked, explored the charming town of Jim Thorpe, and ended each day around the fire roasting marshmallows and cooking with all the conveniences this site offers. We even brought our new dog, who was in absolute heaven at the campsite. We hope to keep coming back to this special place for many years to come. If you love nature, wonderful hosts, and a campsite with everything you need for the perfect getaway—don’t hesitate. Book it already!

Little heaven on earth, clean, private, and peaceful. Scott and Cristina were attentive and kind, they give you access to a shed that has everything from mugs to games, even packing is easy. The tents sit right by the creek, that sleep resets you. The tent has lights, a heater, and a speaker. There’s a rustic playground and a swimming hole with two waterfalls, gave the kids plenty to do. In the shaded eating area, there’s a cooler, drinking water, coffee, and even salt and pepper. Camp Dietrich is our family’s new summer staple.

Loved staying at Camp Dietrich! The trails along the creek and the waterfall are absolutely amazing. We swam in the freezing cold water using the supplied tubes off the beautiful deck and got splashed by the waterfall! The campsite amenities were great, awesome canvas tent with queen sized bunk beds! The campfire setup was awesome and right next to a big covered picnic table. We caught 3 trout in the creek less than 15 feet from our camp. Fantastic family time and core memories galore.

The camp site was immaculately set up with anything you could possibly need while camping. All kinds of extras are available both free and some at additional reasonable cost. Scott was super friendly, informative, and a gracious host. The grounds are phenomenal, with multiple hiking trails, swimming holes and gorgeous waterfalls. Truly a gem.

We had such a great time at Camp Dietrich! The site we stayed at “A Creek Runs Through It” was amazing! The water falls and trails on the property were beautiful and the hosts provided so much it really made packing easy. Our toddler had so much fun in the creek he was not happy to have to go home.
