Camp Dietrich on Bear Creek

We had a great time at Camp Dietrich! Beautiful grounds with lots of hiking trails accessible right from your camp site. Scott met us when we arrived and gave us an orientation to the site. Everything was in good condition. We loved lying in the hammock with the sound of the river and sitting by the fire at night. Highly recommend for a peaceful getaway!

Our second stay here, and once again, it did not disappoint ! We fell in love with this beautiful place the first time we visited, and coming back was just as special. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and the peaceful sound of the water makes it the perfect place to relax, disconnect from the everyday routine, and enjoy quality time with family. There is something truly special about being surrounded by so much natural beauty and tranquility. We made more wonderful family memories here and are already looking forward to our next visit! What an absolutely magical place! The pictures honestly don’t even capture how special it feels once you’re there. You’re completely surrounded by the woods, with beautiful streams, moss-covered rocks and waterfalls running right through the property. It feels like you’ve discovered your own little hidden world. Our family had such a great time exploring the trails, crossing the suspension bridges, swimming, floating in the natural swimming holes and just enjoying the scenery. There was something new to discover around every corner, and the kids absolutely loved the adventure of it all. The waterfall and swimming area were definitely a highlight. Being able to wake up, spend the day outside exploring and then cool off in the water surrounded by the forest was pretty incredible. Even just sitting and listening to the creek was relaxing. If you love camping, nature and places that are a little different from your typical campground, this is a gem. It felt peaceful, adventurous and genuinely special all at the same time. We made some wonderful family memories here and would absolutely come back. ❤️🌲💦

Beautiful and Peaceful!

Camping here was absolutely amazing. Falling to sleep with the water bubbling away next to us, exploring with the kids, and swimming in the numerous swimming holes, all of it made one of the best camping experiences our family has had. Scott is a wonderful host and obviously loves the land and sharing it with others. We will be back!

My family and I had a wonderful time staying on Scott's property. The forest is dense and the creek is very clean. We had a fun time fishing. The tents were high quality and we stayed dry during heavy rain. It's quite hilly so bring your hiking shoes in addition to your water shoes for the creek.

Private Retreat in the Poconos

Scott and Christina are excellent hosts! Camp Dietrich is a dream! We had such a great stay. We will definitely be back and plan to stay longer! We borrowed dishes, utensils, a camp stove, and skewers from the Check Point Shed. Otherwise, we brought items or they were provided at the site. We only saw 1 family on the main road and occasionally saw Scott and Christina. Very private and relaxing camping experience for people of all ages.

Camp Dietrich is the perfect little getaway! The owners have truly thought of everything, from Check Point Shed to the way the sites were carefully curated to provide a truly memorable experience. Our kids were ready to visit the waterfalls as soon as we were settled in. The hike was fun and very scenic. Bring trekking poles or a walking stick if you're not comfortable with a little rough terrain. After the hike and taking a swim by the waterfalls, we went up to the playground that is where you will find the zipline. You have two options for cooking available to you: either the propane grill or over the fire pit with the grill grate. We opted for the grill, but enjoyed the obligatory s'mores after making dinner. It did get pretty chilly at night and early in the morning despite being the middle of summer, so keep that in mind and pack accordingly. Overall, you can't go wrong staying here; it's close to the historic downtown of Jim Thorpe, and there are plenty of activities to do if you decide to explore outside of Bear Creek. We're looking forward to returning soon. Thank you, Scott and Christina!

We had an awesome trip at Camp Dietrich, Bear Creek Falls Gataway! Scott was wonderful and met us for check-in, showed us to our campsite and gave us the rundown of the property. Our kids had a blast exploring the creek and trails! The tent and bunk bed set up was perfect and comfortable! Camp Dietrich Has it all and makes it so easy for a family fun camping trip! We are looking forward to our next trip!

We felt like fairies in the Forrest! Blessed to be able to stay! Needs were met around the clock. They even tried so save our stuff when we were out and a storm passed.It’s a bit steep but don’t let it intimidate you, Scott knows how to handle everything! Some brochures were in the shed and we went on a rafting trip. So much right there and all around. Book it!! and for as long as you can!

This was our fourth visit as a family of four—our two boys, now 11 and 7, plus our one-year-old Aussie Shepherd mix—and we already can't wait to come back next year! There truly is nothing else like it. The private, fully equipped campsites, the miles of hiking trails, the meandering creek with swimming holes, and the beautiful private waterfalls make it the perfect escape into nature. Our boys absolutely love exploring here, and now our dog does too! Scott and Christina couldn't be kinder or more accommodating. They go above and beyond to make every stay special. We can't say enough good things about this incredible, one-of-a-kind place. We highly recommend it and are already looking forward to our next visit!

We spent the weekend at The Retreat at Bear Creek site and had a fantastic time! The area was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. I loved sitting in the hammock reading my book and listening to the sound of the creek. My kids had the time of their lives clambering through the creek and we all loved floating under the waterfalls, even though the water was freezing! A few minutes of cold was worth it for such a fun experience! The trails around the site were well marked and accessible, and I particularly liked the laminated map made available. Scott was very helpful, friendly, and informative. The site felt really private, which was a nice change from other campsites we’ve gone too. We will certainly be back and I would absolutely recommend this site to others!

Beautiful, secluded property in Jim Thorpe, PA. Scott got our crew all settled in and gave us a thorough overview of the site, the land and what not to miss—the amazing waterfalls on the property. Multiple marked hiking trails on the property offered various levels for your hike. We set up camp and started to explore. There’s a rushing stream running at the bottom of the site that was almost a trail of its own for the teenagers with us as they bounded rock to rock downstream. The site itself is not a true drive in as we had to leave our cars at the to pad and walk gear down. Like most campers, we have our own gear, but Scott and Tina had most of what we needed right there on site. We trekked to the waterfalls the next day which were less than a 1/4 mile away. The falls were beautiful, the water was cold , and there were plenty of photo ops and decks to relax and watch/listen to the Bear Creek Falls. The rope bridge and trails near the falls were challenging enough to make a morning of it. Or next hike later that day was on Scotts Scoot which took us on a memorable encounter with a large black bear. My Doberman didn’t know if she was looking at another dog or not. At about 300 lbs +, the black bear ambled away as my dog looked at me wondering what she just saw. My daughter and her friends were excited at the encounter. Jim Thorpe for ice cream (and a beer at Molly Maguire’s) rounded out our day. Scott was attentive and kind as a good host should be.

Everything was clean and set up nicely. Well stocked with water and firewood. Scott and his wife were very nice and we would often see them riding around the property and they would stop and chat. They were very accommodating and helpful. I would definitely recommend staying here and me and my family will be back.

Such a beautiful site! Scott and his family were so gracious and helpful. The creek is right next to the main campsite so the sound of the water is super audible. As a camping newbie this was the perfect set-up, I felt comfortable and confident throughout my time there. Hope to return again in the future!

Camp Dietrich is such a special place. Scott and Christina are wonderful hosts and maintain a gorgeous campsite. Both times we camped here, it rained and it was still our absolute favorite time camping ever. I’m not a big camper typically, but there’s something magical about their woods, stream and waterfalls - it honestly looks like something out of a watercolor painting! The bathroom and kitchen areas are so nicely maintained and the tent itself is perfect. We can’t wait to come back and hope that we catch the rhododendrons in bloom this time!

Amazing place. We went on a rainy weekend and the rain didn’t matter one bit! We stayed dry and cozy in the heated tent, enjoyed the hiking and even spent some time in town. I’ve already recommended to several other families. If you’re looking for an easy and relaxing camping weekend that requires minimal to no planning or packing, this is a perfect spot!

I loved camping at Camp Dietrich! The directions were very clear. They had everything you could need! Plus the land was beautiful with the waterfalls close and our secluded campsite next to the stream. We had a chilly, rainy weekend but with the propane heater in the tent and all of the protected areas made it cozy and comfortable.

Perfect place

The pictures absolutely do this place no justice. The water is literally right at the campsites. Scott thought of everything he had things there for us to use that we did not even pack ourselves. The property is amazing The double waterfalls are just a short hike. It was the most peaceful reset that anyone could ask for. We will absolutely be back and recommend that you stay yourself
