Beautiful property featuring a rustic 1920s cabin (our home), located just minutes from the head of Wallowa Lake. The lot is over an acre and backs up to the Wallowa River. The driveway to the flag lot provides additional privacy and serenity. Nestled against Chief Joseph Mountain, the property offers a peaceful natural setting. The river flows along the lower portion of the property, and a small pond fed by an underground spring is located near the campsite. There are also several mature evergreen trees throughout the property. The tent camping area is located on the lower level of the property behind the cabin and is accessible by a steep gravel path (foot traffic only). A fire pit is available for use unless fire restrictions are in effect. The property is within walking distance of Wallowa Lake State Park and Marina, Wallowa Lake Lodge, the Wallowa Lake Tramway, trailheads, go-karts, horseback riding, miniature golf, fishing, and a variety of local shops, restaurants, and coffee carts. Some businesses operate seasonally, from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Wildlife is abundant, and we share the property with resident deer, foxes, raccoons, occasional bears, and more birds than we can count.Chinook's Pond camp site is a rare gem. This is the lower level of the property (at least a half acre). The area has been leveled. The owners have established grass, water and mow weekly. However most of the area to the river is rustic and pristine. A small pond fed from an underground spring lies between the campsite and the river. Large trees provide much needed shade for a portion of the day. This is a dry camping opportunity. Guests will be responsible for bringing their own restroom facilities; however, restrooms and showers available at the state park 3/4 mile away. Potable water available outside the main cabin. This secluded and private location has enough room to enjoy the location and private access to the Wallowa River. Other cabins are visible at the river. Only the main cabin overlooks the area. Picnic table and fire pit available. Parking is on the higher level (2 vehicles maximum). There is a short walk from the parking area, down the access road to the site.

Trina and Butch's land was perfectly comfortable and private for a girl's camping trip. We were able to easily access the state park and other nearby attractions. And we enjoyed winding down at the property. One of the highlights was the glistening natural pool! My dog enjoyed exploring the property very much. The host pups Coho and Chinook were a bit bigger than her (she's tiny) – but they were the sweetest, and were mindful of the private space. I would be happy to return to this campsite!

The location is absolutely exceptional. The property sits at the very edge of town, making it peaceful retreat away from noise and crowds while still being conveniently connected to the road. From the campsite, we were just a short walk from the lake, ice cream shops, restaurants, gift shops, the Wallowa lake tramway, and a number of incredible hikes and trails (we did the BC Falls hike and highly recommend). The campsite itself is nestled just behind Trina and Butch’s home and is beautifully maintained. It features a charming fire pit with lots of space for people to sit around it, soft floor lamps that illuminate the walking paths at night, and a perfectly kept grassy area. In the evenings, we fell asleep to the sound of two rushing creeks nearby just a few meters away. Right outside the campsite there is also a small pond of crystal-clear, icy water that naturally springs from the ground, surrounded by wildflowers… a truly unique and memorable feature of the property. Be prepared to be greeted by majestic deers, squirrels, and quails as you enjoy breakfast or take a cold plunge: they all cross the property quite often. Trina and Butch are wonderful hosts: warm, attentive, kind, and wonderfully easy-going. They offered excellent local recommendations and were always available whenever we needed help or advice. We cannot recommend this place enough. A beautiful setting, exceptional hosts, and a peaceful atmosphere make it a truly special stay. We hope to be back!

Trina and Butch are absolutely wonderful hosts. I wish i could have stayed longer. The site is awesome with a great dipping pond. Deer walking around, quail everywhere. Across the street from an awesome shop and the tramway. If you do go, give their doggo's love for me.

Cool spot that avoids the lake crowds. Daily deer walking through camp. The river lulls you to sleep and the pond is ice cold but worth the plunge.

My fiancé and I had a great time staying here for the weekend. Centrally located and the privacy was awesome. The hosts were super nice and accommodating. We had our two pups and they had a fantastic time swimming in their pond. We’ll definitely be back!

This site is awesome!! Trina & Butch are amazing hosts. And this site is so private with its own little creek and pond. It’s also the most centrally located spot. You can walk to any of the attractions, as well as the lake. Couldn’t recommend this place more, this stay was the highlight of our trip :)

Trina was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Beautiful spot next to a river to set up camp (a short walk down a hill). Everything around Wallowa Lake was within walking distance, which was a huge bonus. We will definitely be back!
