Owl Creek Cabin is in the Cascade Mountains, east of Ashland, Oregon. The cabin, situated in a Douglas Fir grove next to a seasonal creek, sits on five forested acres and is adjacent to BLM lands, open for hiking. Outside is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. An outdoor soaking tub is available from April 15 - November 15. When you arrive, you'll be greeted and briefly introduced to some of the cabin's unique features, including attic stairs to the windowed sleeping loft. Downstairs is a sofa and a sofabed. The coffee cart kitchen has a refrigerator/freezer, a coffee maker, an electric tea kettle, a toaster oven, and a microwave. Cook on an outdoor gas grill with a skillet and saucepan, and enjoy outdoor dining at a picnic table. Dishes, linens, and bedding are provided. WiFi speed is suitable for basic use. Mobile phones connect through WiFi. The cabin is non-smoking. Children six years and up are welcome. Summer recreational areas are nearby with miles of trails, including the Pacific Crest Trail, are nearby. Howard Prairie Lake is across the road. Howard Prairie Lake is a local favorite for fishing for Rainbow Trout and smallmouth bass. Birdwatchers can see eagles, pelicans, geese, ducks, hawks, herons, and many other bird species. A 25-minute drive will take you to Lake of the Woods, where you can dine, hike, and kayak, or snowshoe and cross-country ski in the winter. Five stars for Kit and Chris! Their remote property is beautiful, and Kit gave us a great, friendly tour of our space upon arrival. We spent our stay thoroughly enjoying the outdoor fireplace, the bath, and the cozy porch couch. We accidentally left behind an item and they graciously shipped it back to us. Highly recommend this wonderful spot!

5 stars A+. Kit was an excellent host and the cabin exceeded our expectations. The property was peaceful, well maintained, and surrounded by beautiful forest that made it easy to unplug and relax for an evening. Everything was exactly as described, check-in was seamless, and it was clear that a lot of care has gone into creating a comfortable and welcoming space. We enjoyed sitting by the fire, cooking meals, and simply enjoying the quiet. We left feeling refreshed and would gladly stay here again. Highly recommended.

Such a fantastic location! Kit is super nice and the cabin is so much fun. I truly enjoyed the outdoor bath. The loft was neat, and the internet was nice to have for a late night movie. I would 100% stay here again and have already let people in my life know about it!

What a beautiful and cozy spot!! Kit was very accommodating and friendly. The cabin was warm, the fire pit was perfect. I was just bummed the outside bathtub wasn't functional at that time, but all in all a great spot and I highly recommend.

We loved Kit’s cabin! The cabin is so homey and comfortable and the land is so beautiful. We had a wonderful stay, the only downside was that it wasn’t long enough!

Peaceful and private (except for the chipmunks, squirrels and birds). Bath water was hot so let it set for a bit before getting in. Outdoor bathtub, priceless!! Loft bed, cozy! Papasan chair on the deck, RELAXING!

Beautiful cozy oasis away

Kit’s cabin was well put together. It is tight quarters for some but we are a family of four adults (parents and children) so my daughter and I shared the loft while my husband and son shared the sofa bed. Our family travels a lot And being cozy with our family is something we are used to and just use that as extra time to talk about everything. If you think your family would do well, you will be comfortable. If you have someone who doesn’t share space well or sprawls stuff everywhere, you may want to limit who comes but still go because the cabin is great. I was really nervous about sleeping in the loft as an average sized human during a heat wave. Thankfully the mattress was great, the trees keep the place shaded, the evening air was cool even on the hot days, and there was a portable fan. Everything we needed was available and my favorite part was having a toilet and good shower! We didn’t use the outdoor tub but Kit showed us how it works, it looked really clean and the water warmed up very fast during the demonstration. It would be a refreshing and wonderful experience that I plan to try during the next visit. Thank you again!

Great little cabin tucked into beautiful thick forest. My daughter and I had a wonderful time unplugging after a long roadtrip to San Fran! The forested bathtub was a wonderfully unique experience and the cabin was really well built. Would definitely stay here again.

Kit was a friendly and generous host. He was available for questions and support and we loved renting his kayaks for the nearby lake. The spot is private and the cabin is so sweet, well-kept, and clean with nice bedding. The outdoor firepit was a plus. It was a great spot for our family (2 adults and 2 young boys).

Such a wonderful and cute cabin in a beautiful and peaceful location! It is in a great spot if you’re looking for some seclusion and relaxation. There are also a lot of great lake spots nearby if you are looking to do some kayaking or paddle boarding. Kit was very kind and accommodating host. I would definitely recommend staying here!

The Perfect Cabin Experience

I cannot say enough good things about this cabin. Kit, the owner, is just an awesome host. Super friendly and kindly shared some great stories and conversation, while at the same time giving me plenty of privacy during my stay. The cabin was clean and had everything I needed. A large bundle of firewood with kindling, access to a gas grill, mini-fridge, microwave-oven, heater in the cabin, plenty of seating on the deck and next to the fire pit. The surroundings were amazing. I came through on my motorcycle, and it was an amazing area for that in particular. I could go on, but this place really stood out as easily the best Hipcamp experience I've had. I definitely plan on coming back. I would, without hesitation, recommend anyone stay here if either by yourself or as a couple. It's just an amazing place.

Little cabin tucked among the trees

This is one of my most favorite places on Hipcamp. I love everything about this place and the host, who was very thoughtful. My boyfriend appreciates how Kit prepared the fire for us, saying that he had never started a fire this quick before. Everything you need he probably has it already in his cabin. We will definitely stay here again if we ever past by Ashland.

A beautiful cabin secluded by green trees is the perfect peaceful, quiet place to unwind in nature. We enjoyed making a campfire and taking a hot bath under the stars. The hosts were kind and provided everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Kit made sure everything is there for You to have a wonderful experience. The place had an ethereal feel to it all, from the outdoor tub to the owl’s & coyotes calling in the night, & the night sky that was very predominate. Gorgeous. We had wonderful weather the whole time & it was a just what we needed after a full day of hiking.

Owl Creek Cabin was great! The cabin is beautiful and hand-built by Kit, the gracious host. I actually spent most of the time there reading a book written by the host, which was really good. It's got a lofted bedroom above a basic kitchen and living room. This would be a great retreat for a writer!

Overall we definitely enjoyed our stay and it was at a great price. I will say if you're a non-outdoors person like it's definitely more glamping then camping - lots of inside bugs and a limited cooking situation. Regardless, we expected that and it was still a fun time

Little piece of quiet heaven

This is our second stay with Kit and as usual it was magical! We love coming to stay and it has become one of our favorite places. This time we explored Ashland and just read and enjoyed the quiet. Our 5.5 year old enjoyed exploring the outside areas, turning over rocks, looking in the creek, etc. He said he wants to “stay for forever”!

Glamping in a tiny house

The cabin was wonderful to us! Warm (we were there during chilly days), very private including the surrounding area, gas firepit is simple, an outdoor bath tub is a fun bonus - we've never soaked in the middle of the woods (apart from the hot springs). The kitchen had everything we needed , the tiny living room was just right for us, WiFi was fast enough and the smell of wood in the cabin completed a great stay. The bedroom may not be for everyone - it's like sleeping in an attic (steep stairs/ladder up, no way to stand up in the bedroom). To us the sleeping attic with many windows, felt very cozy and romantic.
