Additionally, there's a picturesque 10-foot-deep pond, fed by Shelly Creek, that a family of ducks has been calling home for years. At the right time of the year the orchestra that the frogs perform at the pond is the most impressive thing on Nella Chestnut Farm. Children of all ages can enjoy the thrill of a very tall swing on the property located right at the walking bridge that crosses Neal Creek. There are 2 full restrooms each with a shower, 1 built inside a 20-foot shipping container the other right beside it. Under the restroom container is another buried container that is literally the coolest area to cool off in. The temperature is 50'F year round. Exploring the farm is a delightful experience, guests are welcome to let their dogs roam freely. No plastic bags allowed. It is a farm and it is what animals do , there are shovels scattered around the farm so if you see something you personally do not like, grab a shovel, dig a hole & bury it, adding nutrients to the soil, the trees will be very happy to watch you and so would Mother Nature. There is a fence but be sure to not let dogs run around, over or under the fence to visit the neighbors. Skaters ... and maybe some of you ... wait for it ... used to skate ... LOL ... there's a mini ramp inside a 20' shipping container so drop in. It is a working Chestnut Farm where you can find spots to camp, not a campground. There are no designated spots . There is power in both restrooms and the barn, there is a spot to dump waste to Nella Chestnut Farm septic as well. Please remember to dispose of all waste and recyclables responsibly by taking them to the Hood River Recycle and Transfer Station at 3440 Guignard Dr, Hood River, OR 97031. Remember no plastic bags please. As much as I love DEER TICK not everyone does, ticks in the spring can be nasty, I am warning you.Neal Creek runs through the farm and it is a dream to wake up to the sound of a creek. There is a 10' deep pond fed by Shelly Creek that ducks fly into as well. There is a very tall swing that children of all ages love. Two complete restrooms one in a container one next door in the barn. There is a fire pit not a full kitchen.

Nella Chestnut Farm

The camping here is great! We crossed the creek with our trailer and camped out back. The bathrooms are a great option and even the barn to cool down if you’re tent camping. Our dog was a tick magnet in the tall grass, but the ticks were super big so easy to spot. He also got some chestnut burrs in his paws so keep a look out. Overall a great place to stay and we’ll definitely be back!

Sign could be brighter/bigger or co

Host was very nice and chill , welcoming. Farm us pretty interesting, a lot to see , discovered. My six year old love the swing! And the creek The only thing i would suggest to the owner is to put a brighter sign outside in the road to point where the farm is because I missed lil 3 times and it was getting dark and I couldn’t find it and I was within a few feet but I couldn’t see any sign that said Nella farms turn here. Until I really drove slowly and saw a dark metal sign that said Nella, so for future travelers I think this would help

Great spot and host!

Flushing toilets, showers, electricity, camp kitchen!!! Need I say more?? There was even a washer and dryer available! Oh, and only $20 night! Bernardo was great, and came daily to check on everyone and everything. We were there during the 4th of July heatwave and my kids loved the cool room and what they called the "living room" (I think it was a barn, where there was 3 couches, chairs, plug-ins, the 2nd bathroom and it stayed pretty cool), where they seemed to spend most of their time. There were so many interesting things to check out. I would totally recommend this spot and will visit again myself. I would recommend making sure that you make sure you go down the right driveway or you might have to deal with neighbors that aren't too nice.
