I like dispersed camping. Not a fan of RV parks or state campgrounds. This was perfect. Close to Cape Blanco and Port Orford. Quiet at night. Right by the Elk River. Watched birds and enjoyed seeing the cows. Note: there is no shade. For us not a big deal because it wasn’t super hot. Great host. Highly recommend.

Great for people with dogs. Swimming in the river is amazing. Wide open space with great star-gazing at night. It can get quite windy and there is no shade. Working cattle pasture, so don’t be surprised to meet cute and timid cows.

Beautiful camp spot! We loved having a secluded area all to ourselves. The kids played in the river all afternoon and had the best time. The camp hosts were also kind and helpful. The RV park nearby was useful for bathrooms and showers, but do know that it is a short (5 min?) drive away. Overall a wonderful experience!

This was my first time using hipcamp so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The site itself was OK, a mostly flat mowed area of cow pasture right next to the elk River close to 101. There was no shade and no wind break and it did get very dry and dusty. The section of river we had to swim in was very clean and cool and lovely for the kids. It says $55 a night. I now understand that as you add people onto reservations, the price goes up. We were a group of three families and the final cost was a whopping $210 a night. i’m sorry, but that is very overpriced for a mowed section of cow pasture next to a river. No facilities at the site. Nowhere to dump trash. You were able to use the bathrooms and shower at the elk Creek campground nearby. The shower I had there was one of the best I have ever had in my life.
I suppose what you are getting for that price is camping next to a river and PRIVACY. However, we did not have privacy. We were encouraged to leave the gates open. One of the nights some van lifers followed us in, parked 50 yards away from us on the river and spent the night. It made several people in our group very uncomfortable. I did reach out to the host to see if the cost could be adjusted based on this issue and I never heard back. Also note that if you have people in your group arriving at different times this place is impossible to find and GPS does not guide you there. There is no cell signal so have a rendezvous set ahead of time to guide everyone in.

Miranda was a great host and her place exceeded our expectations! My wife and I full time and have stood at many Hipcamps and this place goes down as one of our favorites.
We have a 36ft Travel trailer and had no problems getting to the site. The road to the site is a bit bumpy but just take it slow. We were easily able to make a u turn once at the site and positioned our RV about 50ft from the water.
It wasn’t too warm and a bit windy while we were there but that didn’t stop us from getting into the water. We even Kayaked a bit up and down the river. It was so peaceful hearing all the birds.
If you’re in the area, I wouldn’t pass this place up, very few hipcamps are this good and you get to enjoy it all by yourself.

Such a beautiful place to be, stunning spot along the elk river, good swimming spot if you’re up for it, stargazing was amazing too! The wind can get pretty intense out there. Overall it was just what I was looking for as a place to be at peace and play in nature :)

Beautiful secluded spot just off the 101 with plenty of room to camp. Swimming in the creek and watching the sunset over the hills was the highlight of our road trip up the coast from SF to Portland for sure. A little breezy and chilly at times, but definitely looking forward to returning in the warmer part of the summer - highly recommend!

Fantastic private campsite. Great for letting your dogs run and play. Easy access to a beautiful river where you can enjoy the quiet and/or play in the water. Our dogs loved playing in the water. Brilliant stars at night.

The campsite is fabulous, and the swimming was superb. This will be a nice fishing spot in the fall. I wish we got there earlier to enjoy a longer afternoon swim. Our dogs enjoyed being off leash and they left the cows alone. The cows can freely access the campsite.

The land was spacious and beautiful. Perfect river frontage with a jumping rock that my family enjoyed. I advise keeping you dogs on a lead as mine loved rolling in the cow pies out in the field. 🤪 I would stay here again.

This spot was perfect for our group (airstream and tent camping). Secluded, beautiful, and quiet. Great base for exploring mountain bike roads and beach hikes. Sweet swimming hole.

This land was so beautiful, truly an amazing place to see birds, lizards, bugs, river otters, salamanders and more. Plus the cows will occasionally come by. The local area is so fun. Lots of hikes and beaches to explore. It was pretty private. The only issues I faced were people in the area screaming loudly in a very nearby area ( Im guessing it was local teenagers looking for a place to hang out by the water) and two people from the RV park randomly canoed by our campsite and later came back to fish right in front of the sight. I’m sure these incidents were rare but I wanted to share. I would definitely recommend this place!!

WOW absolutely perfect. Not a soul around, so much space to run in the fields, our view on the river every morning was heaven. Miranda and her coworker at the RV camp were so helpful and kind. 100% can’t wait to come back soon.

This was our second visit here, which should say a lot about how much we enjoyed it. It was a great place for our dogs to run loose plus being next to a river added to the pleasure. All went well as usual and we will be making another visit in the near future.

Absolutely loved this spot! We will definitely be back. About as private as it gets. We had a 40' 5th wheel and had no problems navigating to the site. Being right on the river is another bonus!

Beautiful, quiet spot in pasture, steps away from a nice fishing hole. Working ranch with cattle. The hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. Short drive from town of Port Orford. It is a working cattle ranch, there are a few cow pies here and there are gates that needs to open/shut as you enter and leave the property.

We had a great time at Miranda’s private camping spot! The access to the beautiful creek was an added cherry on top. It was relaxing, peaceful and a wonderful escape. The stars at night were breathtaking! We will definitely be back!! Thanks so much for sharing your beautiful land with us. :)

What a heavenly spot! Well worth the longer drive from Portland. Miranda was very accommodating when we arrived later than expected and the site was clean, private and most of all absolutely stunning. Some of the clearest water I’ve seen in Oregon and some of the brightest stars in the sky. We could see the Milky Way! Plus, the friendly cows came close to our campsite and watched as we cooked dinner. We loved them. I would definitely recommend and I hope to come back next summer!

Pretty spot on a river bar. I recommend bringing table and chairs if you want to have your camp set up on the river bar. Also the bathroom is pretty far distance away so if you have a camp toilet bring it. Great swimming spot.

What a special place, we took our large bus and loved being surrounded by meadows and the occasional cow coming to say hello. Great for your dog to be off leash as theres lots of space to roam. The river spot was gorgeous and tranquil. We unfortunately were there for some rainy august days, but i still managed to take a dip in the river, it would be so so nice on a hot day for swimming with a large rock next to a deep pool you could jump off. Miranda drove us down there and it was wonderful having all the amenities like showers and toilets at their family campground a 1/2 mile away. If you need a getaway away from other people this is your spot.

Absolutely stunning spot, very private and quite except for a little bit of cow mooing which was very peaceful and beautiful to see them walking around, up the road there was free ice, washrooms and showers which were all perfect, i would definitely recommend this to anyone to go and enjoy!
