So peaceful and beautiful! The porta-potty was extra clean. We were only able to stay one night but hopefully we can come back for a longer visit soon. We were escorted out by about 2 dozen cows which was the perfect end to a lovely night and morning.

We booked late, but the directions provided were spot on and we had no trouble finding this lovely spot by the river. Quiet, open meadow with trees and brush with space between sites so it felt private and serene. Very friendly and helpful host. We would definitely stay here again!

This was easily one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. You can hear the roar of the ocean from the campsites and the calls of seabirds. The water of the river was clear and mild. The host Joe was very kind, welcoming and accommodating. We will absolutely be returning someday!

We camped at Fennel Flats (site #1) for two nights and loved it! The location was beautiful and peaceful. We were the only ones there with our pup, so we had the whole place to ourselves. Even if there were other campers, the sites are spaced far enough apart that it still feels private.
The bathroom was clean, and the hot shower was such a treat after a long day outside. At night, we enjoyed stargazing, and our dog Twinkie had the best time running around and exploring. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and we’d definitely come back!

I had such a peaceful stay at Fennel Flats. The views were stunning and the outdoor shower was fantastic. It’s a great location near to many things, including a hike to Black Rock Point just down the road! The Great Pyrenees dog was such a friendly love and was so well behaved around my cats as well. 10/10 recommend, will stay again!

Our 3rd time here and it’s as wonderful as ever.
Site 3, while a little less private perhaps, has the most lovely river-side views.
We saw lots of birds, little fish jumping and could hear the ocean in the distance at night.
Love that shower with a river view!
We will be back.

Amazing campground for the price showers on site. Only if you we had was a bin for our trash joe is an awesome host. Campgrounds are clean very very private with each campground and the access to the river right there is amazing.

We stayed at site #1 and it was an absolute delight, in my opinion best site because of the privacy, and the large space, but honestly there were no bad sites. My dog loved the off leash aspect, lots of space to roam, and the other dogs were very friendly. I embarrassingly missed the firewood when I first arrived (it was in a very obvious space but I must have been distracted by checking out all the awesome campsites) and when I messaged Joe inquiring about the firewood he amazingly showed up and brought us some. Even though I had made the oversight he was gracious and so kind. He is a fantastic host. We slept so soundly, the camp was peaceful and felt very safe tucked in down a long driveway. It was perfect distance to the beach, and to Port Orford and Bandon where we ventured for snacks and site seeing. 10/10 would recommend and come back to camp again!

Such a great location and we'll appointed camp! We stayed at site #1 and had plenty of room between us and other sites. Super well maintained, amazing shower (crazy views and hot!) and composting toilet (also clean, no smells). Blacklock Point trails were spectacular and so close. I hope to be back!

One of the best sites I’ve ever stayed at. Had no trouble with the steep road pulling a 6000lb camper. 4wd helped.
Site 1 was the best and felt the most private but they all had their pros and honestly you probably can’t go wrong with any choice.
The propane shower was incredible. We have a shower in the camper but used their outdoor shower every day.
100% would camp here again.

Wow - what a special spot!! I am new to Hipcamp and my experience at Joe’s has me wishing I had found it sooner. I was in site 3 which was close to the water front. Like others have mentioned, it did indeed get windy at times so make sure to have your tent strapped down well. But the wind wasn’t constant and was worth dealing with, having such an awesome spot at the waters edge. I loved hearing the cows and watching the wildlife. I had the grounds pretty much to myself and my pup for most of my stay, though we were privileged to be visited by the friendly property doggo who swam and played with us one afternoon. If you’re thinking of booking, do it!

I’ve been on a three week road trip camping around the US and this is by far the best place I’ve stayed! Everything from the location, to the communication with the host, the facilities at the campground, all amazing! The outdoor shower (with hot water!) was my favourite part, I only wish I’d stayed longer.

This is a wonderful spot tucked along the Sixes River. We stayed at site #1 and loved it. The sound of wild birds, cattle in the distance and the wind blowing through the trees was relaxing. Sites were clean and well marked. There was a nice composting toilet, hot showers, and wood for sale. I wish I had remembered to bring my kayak to paddle the river. In August the river had very little current and would be an easy paddle both up and down river.

Fennel Flats is great!!! We had the good fortune to camp in Site 2 for 3 nights. The campground was variously full while we were there. We never felt crowded. The river runs right by the campground giving it a lovely serene feeling. Composting toilet was really well kept up and we looooved the outdoor shower with hot water. I know Joe had no influence over the perfect weather or the lack of bugs but it was truly a wonderful camping experience. Thank you Joe for offering this oasis on the coast. We hope to camp at Fennel Flats again.

This is about my third visit. On the other two visits there was no more than one other camper which made it great and private. This time most sites were filled and I had to be more carefully about my dogs plus it was a lot less private.

This was our second stay at the flat. Favorite place to stay - the sixes river running by, regrets and Osprey, swimming - peaceful open arrangement - hot shower a plus. Wonderful, wonderful environment.

The space was beautiful, the amenities were certainly rustic but a luxury for camping somewhere remote enough to really feel like we were getting away from it all. The host was responsive and helpful. The firewood was a bonus because we didn’t bring any. The Milky Way was visible with the naked eye and you can hear the ocean! There were some, but minimal, bugs and enough wildlife to keep my 10 year old excited. We had a blast!

We really loved this location and the host was easy to contact when we ended up in the wrong pasture with cows looking at us. We stayed only one evening on our way down to the redwoods, so it was a fast trip, but looking forward to coming back again. Just note we were towing a teardrop and on the drive out had to pop the truck into 4wheel drive to get up the steep slope.
