The campsite was wonderful, plenty of room to spread out and the three other sites on the land are far enough away that we only saw or heard them while they hiked passed on the paths. We were at Site 2 right next to the river. There is a steep stone path down to the water, but it is very muddy so wear water shoes. There are a lot of trees at the site, so no star gazing, but it provides great shade, and we hung hammock chairs from the trees which worked great. We rented kayaks (and Ray brought them down to our site for us) and spent a pleasant afternoon on the river, and then hiked three miles on their land (mowed paths that all lead back to the campsites so we didn't get lost) trying to find the elusive "big tree". Sam's parents were very nice and helpful and welcomed us when we first came in, and rented the kayaks to us. A bundle of firewood was provided (and a metal cylinder and top grate and water bucket) and we found enough branches nearby we didn't need to buy another even though we stayed for two nights. I was worried about mosquitoes since we're right next to the river but we didn't get any bites at all. We would highly recommend this hipcamp if you want solitude, beautiful nature views, river access, hiking, and friendly hosts. We let Sam know when we left Lincoln City (cell service gets spotty soon after so text while you're in town) as requested and they were waiting for us, although we overlooked the "hipcamp" sign and arrow to the left of the house to follow.
