Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
For now it would be best for people who like to cut trails and are capable of dealing with brush. It's a very nice place on the river but it's terribly overgrown and wild. 31 miles from the ocean. Located on a very nice piece of the Alsea River. Mushroom hunting, Salmon, Steelhead, and Cutthroat Trout Fishing. There are all kinds of outdoor activities to enjoy. There are beautiful old trees. There are even fallen trees that you could chop for firewood if you wanted. It's a beautiful place and the river sounds so beautiful! I'm right in the middle of the forest so not far from logging roads where people can hunt for deer and elk. Morel mushrooms and other types of edible grow wild on this property in April and May. Campers could enjoy picking their own wild mushrooms here or just up one of the nearby forest roads. Please only eat something if you know for sure that it is the right mushroom. A lot of good mushrooms have lookalikes that aren't so good.I have to warn you that this place is overgrown. I didn't know it was so bad but the first campers pointed it out to me. If you can fight the brush it should still be a great place. Pitch your tent only about 30 miles from the Oregon Coast, in the middle of the woods, by the Alsea River! You can listen to the river at night as you sleep. It's so beautiful and green everywhere! Wake up in the afternoon if you want and have more time to explore because of later checkout time. Deer and elk often camp out in this area because of the easy river access. The wildlife is truly amazing! You might even get to hear an elk bugle! There are a few trails but lots of wild areas to explore and you can make your own trails if you want. Lots of wildflowers grow everywhere here and the natural butterfly bushes and hummingbird flowers draw beautiful wildlife. There are fallen trees for as long as they last that people can use for firewood. Somewhere in the brush out there is a firepit but I think it grew over. It's a beautiful quiet place in the middle of the Siuslaw National Forest. The Alsea River is only 48 miles long so it's very clean but it holds salmon and more than one type of trout. I have seen some Big fish taken from this river! You can stand on big rocks and cast your pole at my favorite part of the river. It's a great little swimming hole and there are crawfish to catch which is always fun. If you use a crawfish tail for fishing, you can catch wild cutthroat trout. 2 kinds of trout and 2 kinds of salmon run this river. There are fish available for catching year-round. The Alsea really is a magical little river with so much to learn and explore! This property has a great swimming hole above the good fishing area that goes about up to my shoulders of calm water in the summer. The Alsea is warm in the summer so it's a very comfortable swimming experience. This property runs directly into the national forest where you can hunt elk, deer, bear, and other animals. I can also tell you about a great nature hike, mushroom foraging, and hunting if you ask. Camping this close to the coast is great because you can enjoy the more pleasant weather here at night and then head over to the coast for an enjoyable day on the beach.
