SAMS TOWN is a one-of-a-kind, rustic hangout and pit stop put together by Samuel Hagen, an artist and landscape photographer. He used all sorts of reclaimed materials and rescued nostalgic artifacts that give it a unique vibe, celebrating the good ol' days and a desire to reignite community spirit. Right on Old Route 66, in Erick, OK, this spot mixes up some classic Americana feels with a chill roadside rest or an overnight stay. If you're on the road and want a stop that's anything but ordinary, this is it! Come visit or stay at one of our campsites or one of our unique accommodations: 100-year old One-Room School House 7-Ricks Loft Cabin Homestead Log Cabin We welcome: Bicycles: Individual or groups, Walkers, Runners, Hikers, RVs, Motorcycles, well... we welcome everyone! Campers: looking to pitch a tent or rent a rustic cabin. (some have more amenities than others Hunters: Looking for a low-key place to chill out after a long day Travelers: Anyone looking for a unique place to stay halfway between Oklahoma City and Amarillo Texas Anyone needing a rest stop, come sit a spell, or stay awhile. Pets are welcome as long as they are kept on a leash while outside and cleaned up after. We have rabbits and a turkey (named Pilgram) who roam the property, freely. We also have our mascot, Patsy, a lovely little terrier mix who will always be with Sam, our on-site host and creator of SAMS TOWN.

RV Parking Spot
Traveling cross-country with a small teardrop camper, we needed a safe place to stop for the night. Sam’s Town had a place to park our camper. As advertised, there no hookups but we did not need them. There was a clean bathroom, shower, and washing machine available for our use. There were tent campsite available on the grounds in a very unique setting constructed by Sam. It would be a great overnight stopover for bike packers. Sam was a delightful host - very communicative and welcoming.

7 Ricks Loft Cabin
Rustic and Interesting Place!
Sam has created a shady and inviting oasis in western Oklahoma just a short distance off I-40 (Route 66). His creative and artistic workmanship is apparent in his photography, his ability to build structures with old found objects and wood, his signage, and his landscaping. Sam has put in a lot of sweat equity, time and love in Sam's Town! He gave me a great tour of the buildings, including stories, history and meanings behind them. I didn't stay in the 7 Ricks since it has steep ladder steps up to the sleeping loft. I just had a shoulder replacement 12 weeks ago and expressed my concern to him about them. He was so kind and immediately offered up the One Room Schoolhouse. It was comfortable and charming! Pilgrim the turkey kept me company during my wanderings around the property. I was enchanted by his place and look forward to staying again if I ever travel through that area again! Thank you Sam for sharing your special place with me!

Unique and tranquil setting
Sam and his turkey graciously greeted me when I arrived. He was a wonderful host and made sure I had everything I needed for my stay. He even switched me to another available spot that worked better for me. Once I was settled in he asked if I wanted him to start a campfire in a large common area and offered to give me a tour of his place if I liked. I took him up on his offer and thoroughly enjoyed exploring all the unique and thoughtfully crafted areas he created. I also had a wonderful time talking to Sam later around the campfire. His place runs right along route 66 which was perfect for my cross country trip. The bed I slept in was very comfortable. I would say the overall the accommodations are a little more rustic, some sleeping areas even have dirt floors, but that’s part of charm. Don’t expect a hotel type stay but there are conveniences like a toilet, shower and place to wash some clothes if you need to. I really enjoyed my overnight stay and I’m looking forward to hopefully a longer visit next time.
