A place carved out of history dating back over 200 years ago. This is where history welcomes you to the Cherokee culture. This land has been handed down for generations and has stayed in the family beginning on my mother’s side of the family, Mary Ann Groundhog, the fourth generation great granddaughter of Sequoyah on the “Dick” side of my family tree. My mother was heavily involved with AIM (American Indian movement). My dad was the last monolingual Cherokee. His name was Mack Vann, he was a man who loved culture and sharing it with visitors and handed down that passion to me. My hip camper site is named after my daddy, I am still a daddy‘s girl. The land originated before Sequoyah. who created the Cherokee syllabary. Sequoyah was my fifth generation great grandfather and I am very proud of my Cherokee heritage, I would love to share my culture, my tradition, and my passion with you. History comes alive!!

My wife and I had a blast at Lisa's childhood home. The views were beautiful, quick access to the river, and Lisa was an incredible host. The air conditioning was excellent as were the farm fresh eggs. Lisa has extensive knowledge and history of the area, which made it that much more powerful. She is world class and will stop at nothing to give your loved ones a safe place to stay. We will definitely be back. This tiny house had everything we needed to cook a great dinner and start our next journey.

Lisa was maybe the nicest host I’ve ever had. She did anything and everything to make me feel welcome even though I was just staying one night. Cozy little cabin and a cool area.

Lisa communicated with me as I was on my way, asking if I needed anything. I was greeted with a hug as I got out of my car and a tour of the little house and the property. The little house has AC and has a little porch where you can watch the sun set. I I soon heard her family stories about their Cherokee heritage and Lisa’s mothers book about the Cherokee tribe. , I had to leave early the next morning but would have lived to stay another day on this beautiful Oklahoma property in Cherokee county. Thank you Lisa for being such an attentive host, my stay was a memorable one.
