The Bright Spot is a campground and marina nestled in the woods along the Muskingum River in McConnelsville, OH. We welcome tents, vans, pop-ups, & small RVs — however you camp, you'll find your people here. 🏳️‍🌈 Proudly women and LGBTQ+ owned | Open to all 🏳️‍🌈 Campground reservations & boat ramp passes now open! Check back soon for boat slip reservations! Our goal is to provide an affordable array of amenities for our guests to enjoy. All camping reservations include access to our amenities -- including a complimentary boat ramp day use. We are actively working on improvements to the Bright Spot -- check back soon for new additions! Chelsea & Tessa started camping in their late 20s. While in graduate school, they scraped together some savings and purchased an old pop-up camper online. Having renovated their little trailer using mostly repurposed materials on a budget, they deeply appreciate opportunities to spend time in nature comfortably, while still prioritizing time together outdoors. Now, they enjoy pulling their little camper across the country, but especially to smaller campgrounds like The Bright Spot, where they can slow down and enjoy both quiet and community in nature. Their goal in owning & operating The Bright Spot is to make camping comfortable, accessible, and fun for people (and pets) from all walks of life.

Our primitive sites are nested along the tree line of the surrounding wooded area. These sites can comfortably accommodate larger primitive setups, multiple small tents, or a single setup with plenty of space to stretch out! We have a larger community firepit near the central primitive camping areas in addition to picnic tables and fitrepits at each site for you to use. Please contact us if you would like to book multiple sites for your group, and we would be happy to set you up for multiple sites in the same area. This cozy 1-bedroom beauty features a brand new queen sized bed, along with a fold-out couch that's ready for an extra guest. The bathroom is available for getting ready and washing up only. Please note that toilet facilities are not available in Dixie; our clean, private campground restrooms are just a short walk away and available to all guests.
