Nestled under the shade bequeathed by a tall canopy of deciduous trees and alongside a gentle flowing brook, lies a forest opening perfect for immersing oneself in nature. From our parking area, our private campsite is a short walk (3-4 minutes) by way of a well maintained footpath which leads you alongside a farm pasture, to a wooded trail that empties on to a level forest understory ideal for your hammock or tent. Our campsite is equipped with the necessities: a firepit with a removable grill, a table, your own private outhouse, and unlimited sights and sounds of nature. Trails leading from the campsite will usher you short distances to one of our best stargazing hilltops, to the shallow creek which runs alongside the campsite, through shaded forests and ridgetop views. Our pond, a short 7 minute hike, offers fishing, swimming or simply relaxing on the dock. For longer hikes, all trails connect to our larger network of maintained trails winding over hill and dale, through shaded forests and open (mowed) pasture trails offering the hiker farm-life views across our 80 acres. To make your packing lighter and your stay more comfortable, we offer the following "extra items" at an additional cost. Please order your "extra items" at the time of booking. *Additional fees may apply for items not ordered in advance of stay.* - Firewood bundles (unlimited) - Garbage disposal (limit 2 bags per booking) - Charged battery pack with plug and USB receptables - *Stringed twinkle lights - we do the hanging before you arrive * must be ordered with our charged battery pack or bring own power source. All purchased "extras" will be waiting at your campsite when you arrive. Please see the "extras" for more detailed information and pricing.My Spot Campsite is totally private and secluded. Campers will have approximately 3 acres of complete privacy with access to hiking our farm trails and our family pond for fishing, swimming or simply relaxing and enjoying the views and sounds of nature. Visitors will often get a glimpse of our homestead life: we raise sheep and chickens with the help of our working dogs. Our farm is surrounded by 3500 acres of privately owned forest in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is a short 30 minute drive from Athens to the East and Jackson to the West. We have very little through traffic; it’s not unusual to only see one vehicle a day (our mail delivery). Overall our area is rural and chocked full of natural wonder: sandstone rock formations, an abundance of wildlife to include rare species such as the Whip-poor-will, and the amazing barred Owl, both of which campers delight in hearing during their stay. My Spot campsite is so scenic, tranquil, and relaxing you may never want to leave camp until it's time to head home. However, if you want to use the campsite as your base, Lake Snowden, which is only a 15 minute drive, offers kayaking, canoeing, swimming and the very popular Paw-Paw Festival in September. The quaint riverfront village of Pomeroy is a 30 minute drive. Hocking Hills State Park is only a 45 minute drive.

My Spot Private Campsite

Our second time visiting this beautiful spot, 3 years later, and it lived up to the memories. Communication was excellent. We were offered earplugs with a warning of the dogs potentially barking to protect the sheep during the night. The occasional barking from a distance didn't bother us, but we appreciated the heads up. We really enjoyed the trails off of the campsite through the trees, and we did do a little stargazing. The campsite is so private and comfortable. The outhouse is so convenient. Everything was absolutely perfect and peaceful and it was exactly the getaway we needed!

Such a good time!

The stars were amazing!!! This place was perfect for a quick getaway for our family of five. Beth is a knowledgeable and attentive host and has created such a fun space. The trails, pond and assistance getting our stuff to the site were all special extras that made the experience a great one! Again, if you love stargazing- there is even a special spot for that! We had a lot of fun counting the shooting stars as a family and listening to the sounds of the farm and nature. Very remote, total privacy! We hope to get back soon!

This site offers a rare chance for total peace, with the added comfort of a kind and welcoming host, Beth, who ensures your stay is unforgettable. **Key Tips:** - **Vehicle:** Ensure your car can handle gravel inclines—this is no place for a Toyota Corolla! The path to the campsite involves a STEEP, banked hill. - **Footwear:** Tight hiking boots are essential for navigating the uneven terrain. - **Amenities:** RENT THE LIGHTS AND JACKERY. The dense canopy makes it dark much earlier than expected. Avoid flashlights or headlamps—they attract swarms of insects. - **Connectivity:** AT&T service works, but consider "pretending" you don't get a signal to fully disconnect. - **Local Resources:** Less than 15 minutes away, there's a country store with gas, a deli, and all the essentials, plus a Family Dollar for extra supplies. **Wildlife:** Beware of the local buzzards—grandaddy vulture might give you a scare with his sugar glider-like swoops! **Beth & Scout:** Beth is the heart of this campsite, meeting every request with an open heart and sharing wisdom that makes you feel truly cared for. Ohio Dark Skies

Beth was a great host and took time to show us around the area. The campsite was great. We stayed in our van and made trips to the actual campground while hiking around. The meadow we parked in was great to watch the stars and the Perseid meteor shower which is the reason for the outing to the "Dark Skies of Ohio" area. Also saw lots of birds, some rabbits and a deer!
