Great experience for a first timer!

For a first camping experience, this trip was a blast! Herman communicated often and clearly with us. The location was easy to find and quiet. I was happy to be able to see some stars for a change, even though it was cloudy during our stay. There was ample space for pitching our tent, the grass was cut low, and our daughter loved the chickens and rock wall! There was a fire pit for cooking that made it easy for us to stay safe. Really loved the time here and would like to book again! We definitely recommend this site!

The camp is great !!! The only thing that i want to let people know is that the walk is 500 ft from the car/truck to the camp site .You have to use two wagons to haul your gear .Portajon is near the parking spot .The site was great and so was the weather .Herman was a great host . I would go back

This was our first Hipcamp stay and it didn't disappoint. We rolled in around sunset after a long day of driving and Herman was there to welcome us and help get us situated. Our campsite on the far side of the pond was private and serene. We spotted a heron, some ducks and twinkling fireflies. The kids enjoyed the bouldering wall and bb range. The port-a-potty was super clean and our host provided water and bug spray. We couldn't have asked for a better place for our night's stay. Highly recommend!

Herman's place was absolutely beautiful! The campsite by the pond was quiet, and private. The wagons to help haul stuff back to the site were also extremely helpful. Beautiful scenery, and I would definitely stay here again!

The campsite was really beautiful othe than the mosquitoes were really bad cause of the pond and back in the woods there was some swamps. The scenery was beautiful though and the privacy was great. The host also did a wonderful job in makeong us feel welcome

We were looking for a nice place close to the city where our family could take a long weekend, and Picturesque Pataskala delivered. Herman and his wife have a nice piece of land, and they have put a lot of thought into creating fun interesting spaces. My daughter, Bella, loved the bouldering wall and the lookout tower near the pond. The tower has a hammock, and is a good place to relax.
There was good wildlife at the site. We heard a symphony of frogs, several types of owls, and coyotes. There were also wide variety of birds, so ornithophiles take note. The stilted cabin the woods, is pretty close to my dreamhouse.
The hosts were very accommodating and kind. There had been a lot of rain, and Herman contacted us in advance to let us know, in case we preferred to cancel. They provided us with carts, water and a flash light. They also have really interesting careers/ hobbys including art, animal training, gardening, bee keeping and astronomy.
Port Columbus is nearby. The low rumble of the planes sounded like rolling thunder to me; but, if you are looking for a secluded camp site with no civilization this camp may not be the one for you.
My favorite part of the experience was when Sherry brought her dog, Champ, out to meet our daughter, Juniper who is autistic. Champ was very gentle. Overall we had a wonderful time!

Our party of two humans and a dog stopped off at Herman’s on our way through Columbus heading out west.
We arrived after dark but easily found the designated Hicamp parking spot. Herman was there to welcome us and offered the use of his garden cart to haul our stuff to the camp site.
There was plenty of space to spread out and run around with the dog before bed. While the site is very nice and pretty quiet be sure to bring bug spray (this is the east coast after all). The site also has an awesome little tree house/art studio and watch tower nearby.
In the morning we were able to use the very clean and accessible house bathroom before hitting the road.
Overall this was a great alternative to a hotel or RV-heavy campground. The space was tidy, private, convenient, communication was great and we felt very welcome and safe.
If you’re passing through the Columbus area, definitely consider making this your overnight stop.

This property is a blast. My children swam in the clean pond and got to climb the lookout tower with great views. They got to play basketball and baseball and any other sports as there were plenty of balls and equipment to have a blast there are even a couple chipping holes to sharpen your golf skills. My children got to shoot a ton of bbs at the bb range which is really cool and challenging. And as for the host Herman is a stand up guy that is very skilled and it shows around the property he a great person to carry a conversation with and goes above and beyond. Thank you for having us and I can’t wait to see what future plans bring
