This site was lovely, plenty of room and multiple hammock hanging options. In addition to a picnic table there were two lounge chairs and a patio table with chairs. The swimming hole a very short walk away was great.

This campsite is perfect for a weekend getaway. The creek is one of the best we have been to, while there is a road that follows it the creek is beautiful! We fished using worms and caught over 20 in one day for 2 people (blue gill, small & large mouth bass). While the “outhouse” needs a little love, it works—we brought our own set up but it would work if you don’t have one. There is some road noise, but that doesn’t bother us.

It is a primitive campsite, so don't expect state park amenities, but you can expect privacy. You are only a few miles from Shawnee State Park if you want to take advantage of their activities. Tree coverage was mother nature's umbrella during heavy rains and the fishing and swimming were great. Getting to the campsite was a brief adventure, so you absolutely need 4 wheel drive. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.

Janine and Clinton’s property was beautiful and well kept/maintained. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay. The campsite was exactly what we were looking for. The hosts were very friendly and hospitable as well and made sure that if we needed anything during our stay to let them know. We hope to return to this campsite in the future!

The good:
- absolutely beautiful camping space with nice layout and plenty of privacy
- creek and swimming hole were awesome. It was way too cold to swim in late October, but it was nice to do a little fishing… Small mouth and blue gill were around and hit on most everything, but not many landed… use live bait if possible!
- Creek was WILD at night with a blacklight. Tons of glowing and fluorescent rocks, animals and fungi.
- Horses were super friendly and definitely greeted me right as I arrived, but careful with the gates as the horses will follow you through.
- plenty of fire wood at site (I paid the extra fee to have wood delivered, but it lasted me all weekend, easily)
- fire pit has lots of rocks and over rack and grill grate made it easy to cook (I brought a 12 inch cast iron pan and a 2 qt saucepan)
The bad
-As others have mentioned, car noises were present. I didn’t notice it most of the time, but when sitting quietly, they definitely interrupted. I slept with earplugs because I like to sleep in and didn’t want them to wake me up.
-the compost toilet is pretty rustic. Not somewhere you can “sit and think”, but host said they are working on improving it.
The other
- definitely need 4wd. It was a lot of fun, but I don’t do much off-roading, so I’m glad I had an suv that could handle it.
Will come back, hopefully in summer, with family, so we can enjoy the swimming hole.

Janine’s property was a great spot for those who wanted a private more primitive camping experience. The location is nice and shady, and a great set up for our two tents for family camping. The creek and swimming hole was the cleanest around, well surpassing the quality levels of the state park water areas, and we enjoyed spending time down there looking for fish and crawdads. The drive in through the creek and up the hill was a fun 4 wheel experience too. The composting toilet wasn’t the best, but it was fine if you are used to using a hole in the ground for a bathroom. For us more remote primitive campers it worked.
The only downside was the highway road noise which was very minimal (only the occasional car and truck engine breaking), otherwise it was very relaxing and felt like we were in our own private little world. 10/10 would recommend though for a non - camping park site spot!

Janine was phenomenal in helping us get to our site! It was a spur of the moment trip so it was dark when we arrived and I was unsure of driving across the creek (my jeep grand Cherokee made it easily) but she walked me the entire way to the campsite beforehand so I could get a better understanding of where the campsite was and was nothing but helpful. Beautiful land and a fun little swimming hole close by.

Nice, secluded area with plenty of shade and a wonderful little creek and swimming hole right next to you! Bonus: my horse-lover daughter got to spend time with Mira and Joey, who enjoyed eating carrots out of her hand. Just minutes away from Shawnee State Park, where we went on a lovely hike. Next time we'll bring kayaks for the nearby lakes! Gorgeous area, wonderful hosts (we had to jump our van because a door got left open overnight, and Clinton was very kind to do that for us). Janine was always quick to answer any questions, and she left us firewood and water. Great experience!

Janine was very responsive and the site by the creek is very nice. The creek crossing was a bit more than I was expecting, but an Audi q5 made it with no issues at all.
If you want a nice private site instead of the crowded state park campground up the road I recommend it.

Cool little camp site on the creek. Fun driving across the creek to get to the site. Nice and private. My only negative comment would be the traffic noise but I’m not sure that can be avoided. Host had wood for us brought us water everything was great.

What a great location! Quiet, private, and not your typical camp grounds. The stream was clean, the fishing hole was very close and full of rock, and small mouth who would hit on anything thrown at them. The road noise was the only thing that reminded me of being close to civilization. But it was no issue at all. Close to Shawnee Sate Park and tons of hiking trails!! All this with no camping neighbors! Was perfect for us!! You will love it to!

The creek was amazing! The location was so serene. There's a second campsite nearby but we couldn't hear nor see them unless we were at the creek. Such a great experience! Highly recommend!

The creek was just as nice as the photo on Hipcamp! Janine’s YouTube video was so helpful we were able to navigate to our campsite as it was getting dark. She was very nice, interacting with us via text. The campsite had two good spots for tents. The outhouse was very primitive (no door, no seat) but the site was private. There was another family camping but we only saw them once briefly at the creek, which was large enough that we could have spread out if we wanted to. It was a hot weekend and the swimming hole was just what we needed. We also loved how close the site is to Shawnee State Park where we hiked.

We loved camping here, we brought 2 dogs who enjoyed the fresh air and getting to walk around the campsite and the woods it was in. We were unbothered the whole time we were there! Janine was really a responsive and helpful host.

The creek is a true gem and I can only hope that Janine and her family will continue to share it with the people of hipcamp :) she is just lovely and the nicest soul! My husband and I had a wonderful time here on our cross country trip. We got in pretty late, but we found the spot pretty easily. The horses were sweet and walked up for a quick pet and in the morning we were able to greet the dogs as we headed out. The creek was incredible and we ended up staying a little later than we planned the next day just to enjoy the water. The host was incredibly nice and communicated with us the whole time.

Beautiful little spot. We were greeted by 4 very friendly horses :-). Had Breakfast along the creek before heading to Shawnee State Park Backpacking Trail. Perfect location to spend time at Shawnee State Park. Near a road, so some car noise is heard.

This was a fantastic site! We had a blast crossing the creek to get to it. Very private and we loved playing in the creek and exploring the creek bed. Great secluded spot in the woods at the back of the property. Nice thick tree cover kept us dry and cool and the kids really enjoyed the creek. The location is great for utilizing the amenities at Shawnee State Park without the crowds. Definitely watch the hosts YouTube video to help you find the right spot.

We had a great weekend here! Janine was very friendly and made us feel right at home. 💙 We enjoyed driving the Jeep across the creek to the site. The campsite was very spacious, plenty of room for multiple tents and hammocks. Was too cold for any swimming but we certainly enjoyed hearing the creek flow by. Host had a large water jug and a dry stack of firewood waiting for us when we arrived. The site was clean and very peaceful. The fire tower is only a 20 minute drive from camp. We will return when warmer to spend the weekend floating and fishing in the creek. Highly recommended 🤙

The campsite is beautiful and very private. The table and chairs on the site were helpful, and the host provided a fire ring that includes grates. I love that the host also provided a place for garbage and recycling. Driving through the farm and seeing horses right there in the field with you was a fun experience. All in all, a great visit! 😊

Watch the videos on YouTube for how to access the property. Use the Google maps link from the confirmation email rather than putting the address in for directions. Another group was in the other site, but there is plenty of space. Really nice setup.
