The site has awesome potential and is in an amazing area but it would be helpful to have some designated sites or areas that were level. It has some dilapidated structures on it and the remnants of a Halloween haunted forest attraction as well as an old stage which makes it intriguing. Beautiful wildflowers in the field down below and the forest is filled with birds but the dirt road going up gets pretty rutted out with some deep mud holes towards the top. I camped just off the road in the lower meadow and it was fine for my purposes. I'm interested to see what this becomes in the coming months or years.

Heed the reviews!!!
I chalk this up to experience. Should have listened to previous reviews. Overgrown and bad road conditions preventing me from safely getting into what was probably the nicer part of the property. Overgrowth of the cleared area I did have access to was not ideal. I chose to not stay since because I was by myself and didn’t want to risk going into property farther with my Outback. I would have hiked in but my tent is on my car. 🤷🏼‍♀️. I asked for consideration of a refund and received no other communication again. So I donated to his cause. I’ll do better research next time. Seems like it has great potential with a bit of management and maintenance. I’ll revisit one day and see if conditions and reviews improve.

Great open area. Be prepared to bring your own water and bathroom, lol. There was one portapotty there but was overgrown with grass/weeds, so we weren’t willing to attempt it. We keep a Luggable Loo for those situations. Otherwise, it was great! Secluded and private spots.

Excellent stay on Shag’s land! Had the place to myself. Plenty of room to spread out even if others were there. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a dispersed and primitive experience. I had a 4x4 and it was necessary to get deep into the property due to some muddy hills, but plenty of spots available for normal vehicles too.

Great, secluded backwoods camping!
Loved camping here with my wife and 1.5yr old! We loved how secluded and private our camping area was. Shag was very nice and helpful and was very easy going. A few things to note to future prospective campers: A) Shag has a lot of land and he allowed us to essentially find wherever we liked to camp, however our vehicle isn't a 4WD so was limited on where we could go. So just be aware that a 4WD off-roading vehicle is ideal for his land, but there's still some great camping with a 2WD vehicle B) Essentially no toilets are available. There was a port-a-potty up near the front, but would have been quite the hike to get to. Or take down out setup (we car camp) to drive to it. C) There is creek on his property, but the rough trail to get there made it prohibitive to get to by a normal vehicle. We ended up camping in a field area with no water features around. To be clear, none of this is a negative thing for us. We love backwoods primitive camping so we were well prepared for no toilets and no water, just want to make others aware. We loved our time and definitely will be back soon!
