We Love staying at Baileys Basecamp. They’ve put in some new bathrooms and have worked on improving the area even more. This is our spot when we come down to mtn bike!

Keith was so helpful throughout the entire weekend! Our MTB team rented out both upper campsites and the cabin and he was so helpful making sure we were taken care of the entire weekend. Highly recommend checking them out!!

The campsite was secluded, spacious, and lovely. The hill to the site was quite something. We were so thankful for Keith who hauled our gear with his UTV up to the site. We would have never made it without him. The trail system within a short walking distance from the site is an added perk. We sadly decided to leave a day early due to the heat (camping in almost 100 degrees is tough with a 6 year old). Keith was kind enough to take time on his Saturday to haul all of our gear down the hill. To also note, the bathrooms and showers at the bottom were spotless.
After returning home we had a notification from Ross that we had left an item behind. We are so grateful to him for reaching out and making arrangements for us to get our gear. I would definitely recommend this site. The overall experience was wonderful.

Excellent peaceful remote site surround by beautiful woods. Nice fire ring and plenty of options for staking a tent. The deck is great but a little lopsided. I used some sandstone rocks to level my cot. Good firewood too. The hill up to the site is treacherous, incredibly steep. Without Keith shuttling our gear it would have been nearly impossible. He’s great. Walking up and down it is taxing, way steeper than steps and straight up about 200 vertical feet. Just don’t expect to run to the bathroom or grab a quick something from your car. But the shower house is really nice, super clean and well built. Ride out access to tipple top and all the baileys trails! Can’t wait to stay again.

The Ridge Camp A site was beautiful to spend a couple of days in.
The person who helps shuttle people’s gear up to it, Keith, was so nice and helpful!
The platform for our tent was much appreciated, as we arrived after a day-long rain.
We also appreciated being able to pre-order a dozen eggs and have firewood up top to purchase when we needed it.
We came to this area to go hiking and wow, did we get some steep hiking in just going down to the bathroom! It was worth it to stay up in the ridge but just be prepared!
And speaking of bathrooms, there were two super clean, brand new ones with showers on-site to share with other guests. That was a real plus.
Also down by the bathrooms was a little community hangout spot with picnic tables, hammock stands, Adirondack chairs, and a firepit. Another bonus.
Love this place, would definitely stay again.

We had a great time despite the rain. We were able to have the dogs off leash with no issues. The area was great, clean and secluded. The bathrooms were super clean and very nice.

We rented both campsites for a large group of people. The area was nice and peaceful with no distractions. 15 minutes from Walmart and other stores. We had a blast, the area was beautiful even with all the rain!

This was our second time at Baileys Base Camp at the top of the mountain. We love camping up there. Baileys basecamp has added some extra very nice bathrooms. They helped get our stuff up and down the mountain. Love the peace and quiet up there! Can’t wait to be back! Thanks for the hospitality!

My recent camping trip was incredible! The campsite we chose was beautifully open, surrounded by nature but still felt wonderfully secluded. It provided the perfect mix of open space for activities and a peaceful, quiet environment, allowing us to truly disconnect and enjoy the outdoors.
One of the standout features was the cleanliness of the facilities. The bathrooms and showers were spotless, well-maintained, and felt almost like being at home—an unexpected luxury when camping. The combination of cleanliness, privacy, and natural beauty made this spot a perfect retreat.

Overall I cannot recommend camping at the campsites here. They are up a very steep road with loose dirt and rocks, too steep for anything but an ATV. There is parking at the bottom, but that is also where the bathrooms are. The bathrooms are very nice, but difficult to get to and I would strongly recommend trying to go down the road at night.
Besides that, the hosts and the campsite was nice. The cabin doesn't have any of the above problems, being down next to the road and bathrooms.

We had a wonderful time at Ross's campsite! The ridge top spot was beautiful and secluded, and Ross was an amazing host. We enjoyed mountain biking and Hocking Hills while there. We can't wait to visit again!

Bailey's Base Camp was an absolute AWESOME experience for intermediate hikers and campers.
They offer ridge top campsites that we stayed in late July of 2024 and it was stunning!
There is a massive uphill battle to get to the site but they offer an awesome shuttle service to get your gear to the top for you, however shower houses and toilets are located at the bottom of the mountain and an awful steep hike up and down from your site. Our host was Keith who had no issues what so ever shuttling us to the top if he was around when we needed it!
Keith was absolutely fantastic our entire stay, and was very accommodating.
I will say that when we were there the campsite appeared to have a frustrated beehive in the area, and it was basically swarming with bees,
Keith went out of his way to treat the site for insects and bees while we were gone hiking for the day!
I will say that this site is VERY primitive and I recommend experienced hikers and campers for it, but if you're up for a real stay in nature this is it!!! Bees and all we loved it.

Baileys Basecamp is an amazing property. We really enjoyed our 2 night stay. Super close to baileys trail system. Which was perfect. We will definitely be back!

First, it's great to have a host like Ross who is personally invested in a great experience for people at Bailey's Basecamp. The cabin looks great and I plan to rent that next time. This time, I stayed up top at one of the primitive campsites. Super quiet up there. Ross provides firewood available for purchase and he gladly transports your gear up and down the hill. And true to Ross' direction, you can head due west on the ridgeline and within a couple hundred yards connect to the Tipple Top Trail of Bailey's trail system. If you want to stay as close as possible to the Bailey's system, this is the best choice.

Such a stunning camp site! Very private and quiet, definitely feels more secluded than you would expect. The property manager and owners were very accommodating with helping us get our gear to and from the quite steep climb to the ridge top. The trail up to the top is almost 1/4 a mile and hits a pretty steep angle, so just be prepared! The bathrooms down at the main base were lovely and has outlets for charging batteries in between our time up at the site or into town (super close to Athens and Nelsonville). We had two kids in our crew that are right around 9.5 years old and they did pretty well on the climb up and down. Loved having fresh eggs and convenient firewood available as well. The tall trees around the site were gorgeous as well. Overall we loved the experience here!

Had a great time camping here for a weekend! Our host was extremely welcoming and kind. Plan to load your gear into their shuttle - the hill is very steep and you won’t want to carry anything up. Restrooms with showers and running water at the base of the hill were clean and convenient. Great getaway close to many hiking and MTB trails. Hope to come back soon.

This was a long anticipated weekend away from our busy lives and was well worth the wait! Bailey's Basecamp is a nice, secluded, and remote campsite that provides all you need for primitive camping. The host provided water at the ridge and helped with our luggage coming and going. Even helped after we had went grocery shopping!
At night, you can hear the wonderful nature night sounds clearly, including the occasional hoot hoot of an owl and the lowly call of a whiporwill. Plenty of shade and level ground to pitch a tent. Nearby trails for those who like to go on walks/hikes.
Definitely do pack hiking boots and a walking stick! You'll thank me later. The walk to the bathrooms is rather steep but with patience and the right resources, you get used to it and rewarded after accomplishing it!
I would definitely recommend this campsite to anyone and certainly hope to come back soon. We were referred to try out Gigi's Cafe, a few miles away, upon our departure, and were not disappointed!

My family and I had a great time at Baileys base camp. It’s well secluded and quiet. Keith and Ross were easy to get a hold of and we’re the best host. Helped us get our camping gear up the hill when getting there and down the hill when we left. The hill to get up to the top is steep. But honestly you get used to it after a couple trips up or down. Just take your time. The camp site is worth going up the hill. We will be back and can’t wait to stay here again!
