Located in the middle of Wayne National Forest and surrounded by the Baileys Trail System. Local attractions include Hocking Hills, Ohio University and many other Southeastern Ohio treasures. We purchased this beautiful piece of property in 2016 to be used primarily as a family hunting camp. Over the years we have continued to improve the land and make it a cozy get-a-way. The land host abundant wildlife and amazing views. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Baileys Trail System - Campsite #2
Ross's site was downright fantastic! He and his neighbor Keith (who shuttled our gear up in the dark on Friday evening) were so very nice and accommodating. The site is perfect, with multiple fire pits, a cooking grate and spectacular views at the top of the hill. The property backs up to Wayne National Forest and trails are easily accessible. There's also two very nice bathrooms with toilets and showers but beware of the walk back up the hill! Take a few breaks and enjoy the ascent.

What an amazing place to get away and enjoy the forest! We were greeted upon arrival by the neighbor Keith and his wife. Keith helped us transport our equipment to and from the camp site and was extremely friendly. We purchased firewood and fresh eggs that their chickens laid. The bath house was clean and comforting, nice to get a hot shower at night. Our kids especially enjoyed hanging out with the farm cat ‘Cupcake’ and the other little animals around. We can’t recommend this place enough, and we can’t wait to come back! Thanks Ross for having us, and thanks Keith for your hospitality.

Baileys Trail System - Campsite #2
Nice site but difficult logistics
Location is great for proximity to Athens, the Bailey’s trail system, and Wayne National Forest. The logistics of getting gear (and people) to and from the site itself and your car / the bathrooms and showers are a challenge. The hill is extremely steep and rough, so you are reliant on the person who lives at the bottom of the hill (who helps the host, but isn’t the actual host that owns the property and has their number listed in the booking) to take you and your gear up and down. This basically means going to his house and knocking on the door to introduce yourself and ask for a ride, and hoping they’re available (he was happy to oblige when we were there, but I couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if he wasn’t available or home at that moment when we arrived, or wanted to pack up and leave. It’s not a bad site and price is great, but these things are worth noting, especially if you’re anticipating more of a traditional “car camping” experience where you can plan on storing things in you car overnight, or having the convenience of coming and going as you please.

My friends and I had a wonderful time at this campsite. It is quiet and a two minute walk to the nearest trails. Ross was very accommodating shuttling us up and down the hill during our stay. There are also some very nice finished bathrooms at the base of the campsite that were a very to have. All in all we intend to come back for future visits!

Convenient seclusion
10/10 would recommend. This site was perfect for us. Our party was two families with children. We didn’t have to worry about the kids being too loud to disturb neighbors and felt comfortable enough to let the older kids walk to the pond and fish. The hosts were so incredibly nice and accommodating. Aside from helping us up the hill with all our stuff, they went out of their way to help my son bandage his knees after he took a spill on his bike. Then they brought him up the hill to us in their UTV.! All in all, lots of peace and quiet (you know, aside from our own children), but close enough to OU and Hocking to make quick trips “in”. We are already talking about coming back in the Fall and look forward to riding at Bailey’s when we do.

Camping with the family!
Bailey's site#1 - This place was awesome! This is the only camping site available on the hill and is very clean, green, private, yet perfect for a group to spread out. My kids ages 6-11 were able to run around and play and explore nature without me being worried about them. Because the site is at the top of a steep hill and parking is at the bottom, motorized transportation via a gator upon arrival and departure were 100% essential with all the camping gear. (which was provided) I was pleasantly surprised to find a newly remodeled full bathroom at the bottom of the hill that Ross has for his guests. It's the nicest BR you'll ever have camping. (It's worth noting that it's about 100-150 yards up-down the steep hill from the campsite. So, I'd suggest having something figured out at your camp so that challenging hike is saved for only the most needed BR trips.) In summary, it perfectly fit the bill for what I was looking for. I'd certainly camp there again. (Verizon get's 1-2 bars of reception at the top of the hill) Ross was great to work with. Very friendly, helpful and quick to respond to texts.

Peaceful camping trip. ☺️
We loved camping at Baileys! Not only were Ross and Keith very kind and responsive, their land was very clean and secluded. Just what we were looking for! There was only two of us camping at the top of the hill, but there was certainly room for many more. Next time we will bring our friends.

Location location location
This campsite is a terrific location to access the Baileys mountain biking trails. There is ambience lighting for nighttime fireside sitting. The wood is plentiful for the price. We enjoyed several rides from the campsite between meals! The only downside was the shower was not working for us. It’s always nice to clean up after a ride, but the location is still hard to beat!

Perfect stay
Site was east to find and we were welcomed by our gracious host, Ross! The site was large and quiet. We awoke to roosters crowing and fell asleep to the sound of crickets. Great stargazing. Electricity, on site toilet, and an outdoor camp shower were available. The site is close to a large mountain bike trail network so there is great hiking. Went kayaking at Murray’s Landing in Nelsonville (8 minute drive), dinner at Eclipse brewery. The lower site is good for car camping. Upper sites are more secluded and would be good for backpacking in. Will definitely book again!

Rugged Comfort in Appalachia
A wonderful little place to stay, close to the Bailey's trails and all the rest the Athens area has to offer. The cold shower is a game changer during the summertime, the hammocks are the most comfortable I've slept in, and the atmosphere is generally wonderful. Being woke up by the rooster was a nice touch as well. Would recommend for sure.

i highly recommend the upper site! we were looking for centrally located to the national and state forests, primitive off the beaten path type of place and baileys nailed it. we enjoy visiting nelsonville and athens so that was a plus too. we took gravel roads to get there and had no trouble finding ross’ property. ross let us know that his neighbor keith would be helping us up to our site with a UTV. we were greeted by two dogs and a cat, all very friendly. be warned, it is a VERY steep hill up!! it was no problem for us and added to the experience. kieth was great and told us to knock on his door if we needed anything, and gave us hammocks handmade by a buddy of his to set up at the site. the site is very secluded on a clearing on the too of the hill, surrounded by forest. it has a picnic table, fire ring, a bench and stools. we had the place to ourselves and loved that the campsite is bordered by wayne national forest. the flora and fauna at the site were wonderful. it was very quiet and we were able to stargaze despite it being a somewhat wooded site. there are currently no “proper” toilet at the top of the hill. there is a porta potty at the bottom of the hill, where you park. ross is a great host and we loved our stay on his property, and look forward to doing so again!

A great campsite w/ an excellent host. If you are riding Bailey’s trails, this is practically a ride-in/ ride out location. Ross is great to deal with, and his neighbor Deanna is a sweetheart. This will be my default campsite when overnighting at Baileys. Hint- ask Ross about the shower- that made our day! Highly recommended.

Bailey’s Basecamp not to be missed!
What a great find!! My buddies and I planned a trip down to ride the Bailey’s trail system. We booked 2 nights at Ross K’s Baileys Basecamp lower site and completely enjoyed our stay. It was super convenient to many of the trailheads and is a ride in ride out site. We met the owner Ross and he gave us a tour of the newly completed upper sites that are very secluded and serene. We checked out a local brewery called Eclipse one of the nights which has great food and beers. Full bathrooms and showers are currently under construction and we were told they will be finished soon. Highly recommend, I know we will be back soon!!
