We stayed at J.’s “Cabin in the Woods” and it was awesome! It’s nestled deep among the trees and really makes you feel like you’re in the woods. It’s so tucked away that it’s hard to see from the lower cabin so make sure you read those instructions carefully! The cabin itself was very clean and comfy! There was a ton of handy extras inside like a lantern, a camping chair, a lighter, a hammock, and even some bug spray! The porch had a nice spot for setting up our camp stove and the area around the solo stove was great for sitting around the fire and hanging out for the evening. J was super helpful and responsive! Can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for a super isolated stay in the woods! Oh and the bugs weren’t too bad and it rained pretty hard most of the night and we stayed nice and dry in the cabin. Oh and there were two overhead LED bulbs that let us stay up chatting even when the rain drove us inside.

Lizzies RV Boondocking Site
This location was awesome! Quiet and beautiful, with trails that connect to the nearby forest, and no cell service! Perfect for disconnecting for a few days.
Marietta, Ohio is just a few minutes away with shopping, dining, fishing, kayaking - so much to do and see there.
J.R.'s property is huge, with lots of hiking opportunities.
The fire pit has a bench seat that was perfect for cozying up when we got back to camp. Also, it was nice to have the composting toilet - it kept us from having to find a dump station on our way home to empty the RV tanks.
We saw deer, turkey, owls, woodpeckers, hummingbirds, and SO MANY FIREFLIES!! The meadows matched the evening sky - it was awesome.
J.R.'s father met us as we arrived and, let me tell you, that man is a gem! Through our conversation, we realized that he (at one time) not only worked in my hometown, but in Shannon's hometown, too! It's a small world.
The amenities were just as described in the listing, with a steady power supply, picnic table, BBQ grill, fire pit, composting toilet, and a nice platform for tent camping.
J.R. even gave us great recommendations for day trips (I even caught some fish!).
Overall, a great escape from the rat race. We'll be back!

I will be coming back here, guaranteed. The owner of the land I camped at, J, was a super cool, chill dude. The camp site was awesome with a huge space tucked right into the hills that provided the perfect mix of sun and shade. J even got the outdoor shower up and running for me. There was no cell service at the site but a 1 minute drive up of the hill and you've got it so you can efficiently post all your picks of this cool place to instagram 😊The local town, Marietta, also has anything you’d ever need. Can’t wait to go back!!

This is an incredible spot. Full of meaning and history. J and his family steward their land in the most wonderful way - it’s an incredible contribution to the community and the region. The cabin itself is perfect, hidden, and very private. Everything you could and (and more) for a tent alternative.
J is an excellent communicator and full of amazing tidbits that make the trip even better. He is kind, considerate, and genuinely wants people to enjoy this land. Thank you, J and family!

A clean, safe, accessible campsite perfect for those with a pop up tent on a suv. (Bronco sport). Or regular tent. Very quiet and peaceful, great spot as a midway point or for exploring nearby Marietta OH. Couldn’t be more pleased. Having a SUV I think is preferable for navigating the roads.
The only down side is no internet or cell service so make sure to make arrangements and get everything done before hand. Literally a 7 min drive to a Walmart if you desperately need internet. I actually enjoyed knowing that I can’t be bothered. Overall 10/10 experience.

A group of us stayed at Aunt Lizzies Escape for a weekend, and we had an amazing time! The campsite has ample space for tent setup, hiking trail access, a fire pit supplied with dry firewood, an impressively clean bathroom, and a nice wooden platform that is extremely handy in the case of rain or wet ground for things like tent setup, dry feet, and a spot to consolidate your things while camping.
Nights are incredible here. The stars are extremely visible, and there is water flowing near the camp which is practically a natural sound machine!

This site truly was perfect. There is so much grassy space to spread out, the fire pit was lovely, the platform was great to put our tent on… I could go on and on. The outhouse and composting toilet were the nicest and cleanest we have ever seen. J has truly thought of just about everything. We can’t wait to come back!

My partner is writing this review on my behalf since she has stayed at this cabin before and can compare trips:
I was so excited to be able to come back and spend some more time in this cabin to see what a cold weather stay would be like, and it did not disappoint. In spite of the fact that the temperatures dropped to a chill factor of about 20, my partner and I stayed warm and cozy inside on account of the wood stove. It’s a small one, and if you start with a cold cabin it will take about an hour or two to reach a comfortable room temperature, but after that we only needed to feed it once in a while to keep the fire going. It burned all the way down overnight while we slept, but the cabin was still a little warm inside when we woke up the next morning.
These are close quarters and perfect for a romantic getaway for two. Other than the small birds visiting the feeders, the area was extremely quiet and peaceful. We didn’t hear a soul. It was cold enough that we didn’t get a chance to walk about the property, but we were in the mood to stay cuddled up inside anyway. Just FYI, the composting toilet doesn’t work at these temperatures, so you have to improvise …we kept a bucket inside for #1 during the night.

If you’re looking for a spot to camp that is completely private and peaceful, this is your spot! The cabin itself is cozy and the compostable toilet is very easy to use. There are many amenities provided for cooking, both for cooking over the fire or on a propane stove. There is even firewood provided, but we brought some of our own to supplement as well so we wouldn’t exhaust J’s supply! When we arrived, J offered to help us take our wood and supplies to the cabin with his UTV, but he does also provide a wagon you can use if he isn’t there. The cabin is a short walk from where you park. I’m not sure how large the property is, but my partner and I went on a 2 hour hike on the trails that J mentioned and I’m sure we only saw a fraction of what was out there. I would say the trails are not for beginner hikers, as there are frequent inclines and declines. We did rent both cabins so we would have the space to ourselves, but the second, smaller cabin is somewhat tucked away up on a hill. We could only just see the top of it peeking through the trees. The foliage was beautiful out there, definitely worth a visit! We will absolutely camp here again!

This is an excellent place for motocamping! I stayed for one night with my husband and our dog (on a Ducati Multistrada and Honda Transalp with a dog carrier). The camp site is spacious, private, peaceful, and in the thick of nature. It’s also the first place I felt comfortable training our puppy off-leash recall that isn’t fenced in. J. has added the most beautiful composting toilet and out building I have ever seen. The road is gravel. This is an area that is perfect for motorcycle touring, adventure riding, or dual sport riding. There seemed to be enough space to park a trailer if desired. As long as you stock up on water and food heading in, you’re all set.

I tried both cabins, one night each, and this one was by far my favorite. I missed being up in the trees in the 1st cabin, but this one still has a lot of nature to offer!
While it is rustic, this cabin provides all the basics you would need for a comfortable visit. It’s also PRIVATE. I stayed in the other cabin the 1st night and can say that, at least with leaves on the trees, you cannot see one cabin from the other (just the 1st cabin from the outhouse and vice versa). I was amazed at how clean the composting toilet was; it doesn’t smell at all.
Even in the hot (90-ish!), humid weather, this place was comfortable; it has both a sliding screen door and a screen window on the opposite side near the bed for great air circulation. With my battery fan, I felt cool despite the outside temps. Roomy enough for me to sit behind the screen door in a hammock chair to enjoy reading during a rain storm.
This site is far from main roads, and aside from the sound of a vehicle entering/leaving the main house about a few times a day, there's zero human noise; I've been reserving spots for years through sites like Hipcamp and this is the quietest I've stayed at yet. Nothing but the sounds of nature all around me. Several types of butterflies were attracted to wildflowers all around the cabin, and birds to nearby feeders. Firefly shows at night during summer.
I strongly suggest printing any directions and information you want to have on you during your stay due to zero cell service.

This is the perfect spot for the solo traveler who is packing light and needs a quiet, serene place to stay. I wish I had more than 1500 characters to describe it.
Be prepared for a little bit of a climb: the way to the cabin is a short hike of about 7 minutes, mostly uphill, and the last bit is a little steep. But this is what puts you in a great location on an edge that overlooks almost nothing but trees. It's PRIVATE. I stayed in the other cabin the 2nd night and can say that, at least with leaves on the trees, you cannot see one cabin from the other (only this cabin from the R's outhouse and vice versa).
This site is far from main roads, and apart from the distant sound of a vehicle entering/leaving the main house about a few times a day, there is zero human noise; I've been reserving camping spots for years through sites like Hipcamp and this is the quietest I've stayed at yet. I got to enjoy nothing but the sounds of nature all around me.

There's a wagon provided, but it's solid metal; I wouldn't recommend pulling it up to this cabin. This site has a solo stove; I didn't see the directions for it in the cabin until after I used it with only the 2nd of the 2 pieces that goes on top. Be sure to read the directions: the 1st piece makes more room for wood to be in the stove and the 2nd piece goes on top of that for cooking.

This is such a wonderful hidden gem. I'm so glad we found it! The host was very accommodating and keeps the property extremely well maintained. We stayed at one spot the first night because we arrived so late and didn't want to do the big hike in the middle of the night, then the next day we hiked up to our spot. Both camp sites were gorgeous, the hike to the one we went to the second day is definitely not for the weak, I'm a beginner hiker and this was my first experience backpacking, my boyfriend is very experienced thankfully and took most of the heavy load. I personally loved the hike, just took it slow and steady and enjoyed the scenery on my way. I have already recommended this hidden gem to friends and will continue to do so, it's hard to find good private camp sites and this one was an absolute winner. I'm already thinking about planning a girl's trip in one of the A frames!

When I’m looking for a Hipcamp, I want one that has one site because we enjoy the solitude. Even though this Hipcamp has several sites you would never know it. We did not see any other camps or campers during our two nights stay. When we turned onto the road, I knew that we had made the right choice! Big woods and open fields with plenty of wildlife. We saw turkey, deer,, butterflies & birds. We heard coyotes, tree frogs & owls. The hiking trails felt as though you had entered a magical Forest, huge majestic trees were overhead and the forest floor was lush with ferns. (J. gave us detailed, hiking directions & we enjoyed a 4 mile hike with our two pups.) The camp site was big with paths through a field of milkweed & wildflowers that had beautiful butterflies dancing in the wind 🦋 it provided access to the picnic area with a charcoal grill, a compost outhouse and a fire ring. If you are tent camping, the wooden platform is the perfect place to set your tent on. The luxury of electric was a bonus as was the new, clean compost outhouse. The site to setup your R.V. Is close to a gravel road but there were only a handful of jeeps & side by side’s that drove by. We slept soundly for 11 hours both nights! The new cabins look amazing too. J. was just a text away when we couldn’t figure out the electrical connection. (Breaker was shut off) speaking of texting, my cell phone had connection by the picnic table. The site was perfect; it was secluded with easy access and a great view of the night sky. Our van is set up for 30 amp hookup, but the site is designed for 50 amp. The host was kind enough to divert from an ice cream run with the family to make a trip to Walmart and grab the converter cable. It was a wonderful night in a stunning location!

The was a VERY secluded spot! So much, I completely hiked past in on the first Ruck in (hahaha) It is about 1.8/2mi ruck in from the parking spot, and its an uphill hike to get to the spot.
I had to ruck out earlier than expected due to a night time shoot, and I was worried about hiking back in a 2am. SUPER QUIET and the hosts were very helpful with bringing in extra firewood and getting me to the spot when I missed it the first time. **Headpalm** For sure bring Bug Spray! Also, be very particular with what you NEED for this campout. This is NOT "Glamping"
If I was just camping to unplug, this is the perfect spot!

Great spot for a nice quiet night in the woods. J is an awesome host and takes great pride in his land. I will definitely be back. Land is level with options for pitching a tent or parking your rig.

We had a great few nights at masons ridge camp.
The campsite itself felt isolated and private, if you want the feeling of being out in nature this spot is an excellent choice.
Masons ridge provides good tree cover and had plenty of flat spots to places tents and good trees to hang lines from. Because we camped in mid-november the leaves had come off the trees revealing beautiful views down from The Ridges and colorful sunrises and sunsets.
The campsite was equipped with nice fire ring with a Grill attachment. It had plenty of fallen wood to make fires from and already had some firewood in a wood holder at the campsite.
There were plenty of wide, well maintained trails that winded through various parts of the property and with the map provided to us, we hand no problem navigating the trail systems through the picturesque ridges and Forest.
Furthermore,
We arrived in a rain storm that lasted for multiple hours. however this did not create any kind of issues with mud. The campsite dried out very quickly. And the trails did as well only a few low spots on the trails held onto water that turned into mud and the muddy spots were few and far between.
The host went above and beyond making sure that we had a good time campaign on their land.
