Veteran-owned and proudly American, our simple campground is located right in the town of South Heart, ND. We offer 12 nightly sites on less than one acre, providing a safe, affordable, no-frills place to park just minutes from Dickinson and Theodore Roosevelt National Park. We don’t operate for profit; our $30 and $40 nightly rates are intentionally low to give fellow veterans and travelers a break. We’re not a resort, so there’s no shower house, laundry, or Wi-Fi. What we do offer is full hookups, an on-site RV technician, nearby golf, a bar within walking distance, and DoorDash and Walmart delivery to your site. Back-in sites #1–8 have 20- and 50-amp service. If your rig requires 30 amps, adapters cost about $12–$13 at Menards, seven miles east. Pull-through sites #9–12 have 20-, 30-, and 50-amp service. The frost-free spigots may require a push and slight clockwise turn to start the water. By reserving a site and entering the premises of American RV Park, all guests, visitors, and invitees ("Guests") expressly agree to the terms of this Release of Liability and Indemnification Agreement. 1. Acknowledgment & Assumption of Risk: Guests acknowledge that staying at an RV park involves inherent risks, including but not limited to risks from natural elements, severe North Dakota weather events, trees, wildlife, uneven terrain, campfires, utility connections, power surges, water or sewer service interruptions, and the actions of other guests. Guests voluntarily elect to enter the premises and assume any and all risks of property damage, personal injury, illness, or death. 2. Release of Ordinary Negligence: To the maximum extent permitted under North Dakota law, Guests hereby waive, release, and forever discharge American RV Park (including its owners, management, employees, and affiliates) from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action for personal injury, death, property damage, loss, or theft resulting from the ordinary negligence of the park or its staff. 3. Indemnification: Guests agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless American RV Park from any and all claims, costs, expenses, damages, or attorney fees arising out of or resulting from the Guest's own actions, the actions of their minors/invitees, or their stay at the park.

If you like trains this is the place to stay. The tracks are about a block from the park. It was great!! We had a personal issue and contacted the host. They were a great help to us. Very nice people.

Perfect location for visiting Theodore Roosevelt NP. Nothing fancy, but has full hook ups and pull through sites for easy in and out. We had site 12 nearest a quiet back road overlooking the field. Very happy.

No frills but has everything you need!!! Full hook ups. Medora is 30 minutes away. North Unit of TRNP is an hour. 15 min to Dickinson where they have grocery stores and anything else you may need. I thought it was a good location and very easy to get to using the directions on the website. Definitely turn on Broadway and not Main. I never met the host but I appreciate their service to our country and the represented flags on the property.

We stayed 4 nights. It worked out ok as a hub for us. We left each day to visit Medora and the TR library and national park. The site was doable but pretty rough. When it rained there were a lot of large puddles in the site(s) and the road. On a scale of 1-10 I would give it a 5.

Great site, easy in and out of RV park. FHu, no hassle check-in, everything done on line. We're a few mud holes after the five hours of rain received the night before we left. Close to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library

Mixed feelings about this location. The site and location were fine with no frills. Trailer park beside campground was not a pretty site, but we only stayed 2 nights. Water pressure was so low we couldn’t hardly flush our 5th wheel toilet. Host said town was working on water line so fill up your water tank to help with pressure. We did, then a neighbor told us (not the host), that a boil water alert was issued. You can’t drink the water and everything should be sanitized. Great, this wasn’t American RV’s fault, but we ended up buying new hose, filters and Clorox to sanitize the tank.. Most unfortunate.

Easy access. Nice big pull through site. Sites nice and wide as well as long so neighbors are not too close. Quiet. Full hookups but no other amenities. We stayed there for three nights. Easy drive to Medora and Dickinson and up to the north unit of the National Park. Should have scheduled a longer stay, so many things to see and do in the area.

Great small park! Veteran owned and cared for. You know it's a labor of love as soon as you drive in. Everything was thought of for our one night stay. We were 30 Amp and they even left us the converter so we could more easily plug into electric. I would highly recommend this park for an overnight stay.

We loved the area as it was close to Theodore Roosevelt National Park and to Dickinson which had a Walmart and several restaurants. We ended up having to stay well over a week because of issues with our truck. Jason and Angela worked with us in extending our time while we waited to get our truck fixed.

Good for large rigs that need hook up. Sites are close together, so privacy is minimal. Sounds from trains and trucks close by. Area seemed safe and well tended.

SITE #12 - 100 ft Pull-Through
Meh. That’s my rating for the “park”. It’s just a grass field in a mobile home park with hook ups. Everything works as it should, but it’s just an open grass field. It was level. I would stay here if everything near the park was full, but I wouldn’t intentionally stay here.

Great camping spot with good central location to both Dickinson and Medora. Not very big park so it was very quiet and everyone was super friendly. Nice spacious sites. Great value for full hook ups! The hosts are very nice and helpful.

Nice no frills campground

SITE #11 - 100 ft Pull-Through
This is a no frills campground with full hookups and pull through sites. Price was very reasonable. We stopped for a couple of nights to visit TRNP and found this place very adequate since we were only interested in a place to park. Would stay here again. We camped in a motorhome pulling.

We stayed at American RV Park in South Heart, ND. Everything is done online. This was a great overnight campsite. The owner came and introduced himself and then left us to be.

SITE #3 - 50 ft Back-In
Great spot to camp for the night. No frills, but had all the FHU utilities and everything we needed for a comfortable, safe, clean and quiet experience, all at a great price. Dickinson was just 15 minutes down the road for laundry, Walmart, restaurants and tons of shopping. Thank you to the owner! And, THANK YOU for your service!!

Inexpensive and basic campsites.

SITE #10 - 100 ft Pull-Through
This is a basic, no frills, inexpensive campground. We stayed several days as we visited Teddy Roosevelt National Park. The campground has full hookups and mostly flat sites. Our campsite was one of several long pullthru's that easily accommodated our 38 foot MH pulling a Jeep. Its about 30-40 minutes to the South part of the NP, and over an hour to the North. No frills means there are no bathrooms or showers which was not a problem for us. This is probably the only campground Ive stayed at that didn't have picnic tables.

The full hookups are a great perk. Location is very convenient to TR National Park. Services such a fuel, restaurants, etc. are all within a 30 minute drive.
