Waterrock Hideaway is nestled at 4,600 feet directly beneath Waterrock Knob, with unobstructed views to the summit. The property is located in a remote and isolated area of the Plott Balsam Mountain Range near Maggie Valley, North Carolina, and is perfect if you want to get away from it all. Due to the remoteness of the property, AWD or 4x4 is required year-round. The property features a nice flat area to pitch a tent or back a truck camper into. There is a fire pit, charcoal grill, and solar lighting. There is also a small shed with a pack-out toilet for privacy. Top Activities: 1. Hiking, hiking, hiking: You can hike for miles directly from the campsite along numerous logging roads. 2. Waterfalls: There are numerous waterfalls in the immediate area, both on-trail and off-trail. 3. Absolutely incredible campsite with an amazing view of Waterrock Knob! Very remote, peaceful and just what I was looking for. 4x4 required is no joke but added to its remoteness. Communication with Brandon was excellent with quick response. I will definitely be back!

Beautiful remote property! Host was very responsive when we had a little trouble late on night 1 getting in to camp. Would come back (with a proper AWD vehicle 😅)!

A Hidden Gem of Maggie Valley

Waterrock Hideaway

We loved waking up to the foggy mountain view every morning! The site is cute and secluded...the automatic solar lights and small shed were great to have! Definitely follow Brandon's instructions on getting to the site instead of plugging the address into your GPS (If your GPS tries to take you down Hornbuckle or Reservation Road, ignore it!) The few neighbors we drove past seemed welcoming. The road to get up to the site is definitely 4x4 terrain and the entrance to the site was easy to miss the first time around. Brandon had his brother come escort us to the site when we got lost and he was incredibly kind. He told us all about the nearby hiking trails and showed us around the site. Even though there was a burn ban, we were able to use the charcoal grill and enjoy a great trip.

The perfect spot to setup camp! Nicely maintained and the host was super friendly. Beautiful view, plenty of privacy. Would definitely stay again.
