Everything in the description of this sacred space still didn't prepare me for the true beauty that's on this property. We were there during, suspected tornado activity, and the yurt kept us safe. I was amazed at how sturdy and resilient the yurt was. Liz is so kind, caring and considerate of her guests. I could not recommend this amazing place enough. I can't wait to go back.

We loved staying in Liz’s land, we were joined by another family with kids and had the most magical experience. Liz is a warm, thoughtful and amazing host. We booked the Yurts and they were pristine, comfortable and had basic needs for our trip. The gym was a nice bonus for everyone to have fun. Can’t say enough good things about our stay! We would love to come back !

Beautiful and serene

This is a beautiful and serene camping spot. We stayed in one of the yurts, but the camping would have been fun too. The forest was full of spring flowers, and there is a beautiful short hike to a creek on the property. We have kids, and playing in the old school gymnasium was a big hit! We did do some nearby hiking, but our kids just wanted to go back to the Heart Center to play :). I also appreciated access to the dining room area. Being able to use a microwave while camping makes it so much easier! And we appreciated the coffee and tea Liz had ready every morning. What a treat! Liz was a wonderful host, and one of the best parts of our stay was getting to spend time with her. She is a kind and generous person!

Wonderful stay

I loved my stay in the yurt, which was very clean and inviting. The bathroom/shower in the gym was clean and perfect for my needs. I enjoyed shooting some basketball and trying to balance on the slack line. Liz was very attentive host and hospitable in every way. I do wish I had more time to explore the offerings of the retreat. It was a beautiful and peaceful area also.

Unique historic property with conveniences such as bathrooms and showers. Beautiful environment with numerous hiking opportunities nearby. Liz has extensive knowledge of the area and she’s available and willing to provide any info needed.

Lovely property! Liz is wonderful & extremely helpful. The grounds are very well maintained, and incredibly quiet. Great for a weekend getaway. Liz made coffee and tea in the morning, and the restrooms up at the gym are very clean. We did a great easy hike in the general area. Would certainly recommend!

Amazing Place to Stay!

Our family stayed at Yurt #9 and really enjoyed our time. The yurt was clean and comfortable, and the outside areas surrounding the yurt was beautiful and peaceful. Having access to our own fire pit and picnic table was great. We didn't use the showers while there, but the half bathroom was super clean and nicer than you would expect. It was also really helpful to have access to their cafeteria where we could wash our dishes. The hosts were very accommodating and super nice! We were a little concerned about the low overnight temps (we had our baby with us) so Liz brought us a space heater to use in the yurt. They were so sweet and welcoming. We will definitely be back soon!

Inspiring and magical wonderland 💜

I stayed in a yurt on the property with my friend and we had the best experience ever! This was my first time in North Carolina and it could not have been any better. Liz and Anna were so kind and sweet to us and made us feel so welcomed. Typically when I travel, I like visiting a new place but The Heart Center is definitely somewhere I would love to visit again. I only stayed for 2 nights but I would love to come back to stay longer. Clean restrooms/shower, spacious yurt tent, so many activities, and even a hike to a creek on the property. You will without a doubt have a wonderful time with what this place has to offer. I left feeling so inspired and hopeful for the future. Don’t hesitate, book your stay!

Truly Magical Hipcamp

Site 1 - TENT CAMP IN-TUNED WITH NATURE!

I loved my stay at The Heart Center. It was the mini-retreat I needed. I wish I could’ve stayed longer. Liz and Anna are phenomenal hosts - kind and caring. The yurt was lovely and the bed comfortable. You have the opportunity to relax or explore. There are hiking trails and a waterfall a quick drive away. They have several different healing arts offerings: yoga, meditation, foot detox, infrared sauna, etc. Directions to get there were clear. Communication was easy. A great opportunity to take a break from technology. You’re mostly off the grid, so be sure to download a map of that area for driving. WiFi is available near the main communal space if you need it. I can’t wait to return for a longer stay to relax, breathe, adventure, and rest. Highly recommend!

We signed up to stay in tent sight 1, but when we arrived during a thunderstorm, we decided to rent the Highlander yurt instead. It was clean, beautiful, cozy, and kept us dry and warm. Liz was friendly and welcoming, and went out of her way to accommodate us. The next morning included yoga and meditation and coffee and snacks in the cafeteria and great conversation. We feel like we have met new friends. We hope to return to this place one day!

An oasis away from all the hustle.

We had a memorable experience. Liz has created and oasis. There is something for everyone at this location. Our boys had fun at the gym. The showers and restrooms were clean and well maintained. The location offers great nearby hikes and driving activities. We hiked yellow creek falls and Joyce Kilmer forest. Both were exceptional. All in all A+++ and would highly recommend for any campers.

Special Place in the Woods

We loved staying in the yurt on Liz’s property. It was private and comfortable and we had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The amenities offered at the campground are great. Clean bathrooms and showers, fresh food available daily and yoga and meditation. The community atmosphere makes this a very special place in the woods.

Perfect mix of nature and comfort

We LOVED our stay at the Heart Center! We tent-camped, and had a really nice, peaceful site, with the perfect amount of space to park our car and set up all of our stuff. The sites are a bit further away from each other than what you may experience at an RV campsite, and the surrounding trees really helped make our site feel more private. We even had a little tiny stream behind our site that we could hear at night while we slept. It is heavily wooded though, so don't forget bug-repellent! I loved the accommodations provided here - there was a single toilet building (with a composting toilet) very close to our site (shared with surrounding yurts and campsites), along with access to a water spigot. A short walk up the hill lead to the communal buildings where there is a gymnasium with large restroom areas and hot showers (very clean and nicely kept up), a dining hall type building (where we were able to access wi-fi and could hang out with other guests), and the office building and space for morning yoga and meditation. Regrettably I wasn't able to participate in the morning yoga or meditation, but hope to if we visit again. There are some nice communal outdoor spaces as well, set up for gathering with others staying there, or just having more space to be out in nature. Liz was an amazing host, and helped make our stay perfect. We only stayed 2 nights, but will definitely keep this on our list of places to visit again, and hopefully get to bring our kids next time!

Beautiful peaceful comfortable place! Liz is an amazing friendly warm and helpful host, made sure we had everything we needed. Very cute yurt, we had the whole section to ourselves. Really enjoyed the quiet, salamanders, campfires, the gym for the kids to play,.. really recommend this place for families especially. Appreciated the hot showers since it was a bit chilly at night! The yurt was very welcoming, beautifully decorated, comfortable beds, complete with a few games, a fan and heater if needed. Beautiful area, perfect for day trips to do hikes, see waterfalls, play in the river, see mountains,… close to stores if you need any supplies. Strongly recommend!

Tranquil Retreat

This yurt really is magical! The window at the top of the yurt gives off amazing light and views! It's a solo unit perched a little above the other yurts down the hill. So, lots of privacy! The property is large with plenty of space for amenities and add-on features. Meditations reiki, and an infrared sauna are available on the property. There is also a restaurant on the property, easy walk from all sites on the property. Liz is very welcoming and has created a warm community space for mindful people.

Incredible Spot in NC Close to TN

My husband and I booked a camping spot at the Heart Center and Liz was an amazing host. We have a very large tent that wouldn’t have fit one of her typical camping spots and she accommodated us with quite a large space which worked out perfectly. The nights we stayed got around 22 F and even though we managed to keep warm with our set up, Liz was kind enough to offer us an upgrade in one of her yurts. Each morning, Liz provided coffee, tea, and breakfast snacks to everyone who was a guest and has a few warm showers in the gym that’s on her property. Liz also has an organic garden, a spa, and meditation/prayer room that is available for guests to use. If you talk to her about the history of the Heart Center, you’ll be amazed at what she’s done to make it what it is. It’s really an incredible place and she’s so sweet!! My husband (and two dogs) and I will definitely be back to stay and help her out. This is certainly a place to check out that you don’t want to miss!

Cozy Weekend in the Yurt

We loved spending our weekend at the Highlander Yurt while checking out the fall foliage in NC. Liz was a great host and was very attentive to anything we needed and she also offered great recommendations. The location is very remote without cell service but that was one of my favorite parts. The yurt was very cozy for my husband, my dog, and I.

This place was peaceful and quiet. It's exactly what was needed. I've been to alot of hipcamps and this one had the easiest drive in as well as the most level parking. Having a real bathroom was a huge plus! The location is great, there are tons of hiking areas close by. The host made sure to make recommendations on trails and they were all fantastic. Will be back!
