A rocky creek winds through the woods at the base of several hikable peaks hidden just minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor. The location is convenient to tons of local attractions for sightseeing and outdoor activities as well as shopping, dining, even wine tasting. We would be happy to supply a comprehensive list of the various local attractions upon request but the following are a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; drive the Blue Ridge parkway; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines or Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock or Banner Elk make them each wonderful day-trip destinations.

This Premium Creekside Tent site is shady and secluded down a curvy, narrow gravel road, nestled back in the woods. Sitting on high ground right beside the creek, Shady Creek View II has a nice long view down stream and can accommodate up to two large tents (truck-top tents allowed). A path provides easy access down to the creek where small rapids sing around the clock but there is also some deeper water to cool off in. At present with only two other sites along this portion of the creek, and two sites (not directly across) on the other side of the creek (at an angle) making this one of our more private sites. - Picnic table and fire-ring provided - short walk to Portable toilet -No trailers - We love dogs! Feel free to bring your furry friend but please be conscientious about cleaning up after them :-) - Be mindful of the potential for falling walnuts at certain times of the year.

This shady tent spot sits in the woods on a portion of elevated bank along the creek. The view is lovely and the sound is wonderful but this might not be the best site for campers with kids or who want immediate access to the water due to the sharp descent. - Picnic table and fire-ring provided - short walk to Portable toilet -No trailers - We love dogs! Pebble Beach tent site has exactly what the name implies, a big expanse of pebbly creek beach. The site is large and can accommodate 2-3 M-L tents. It is furnished with a steel fire-ring with a cooking grate and large picnic table. Close walk to clean portable toilet (bathhouse coming 2025!); Potable water available near campground entrance. This with its beach, private swimming hole and distance away from other sites in our opinion makes up for the slightly closer proximity to the secondary Peppers Creek rd. which is a good bit higher.

This location now boasts a brand new Safari tent oriented to enjoy the gorgeously long downstream view of the creek that made 'Shady Creek View' our most popular primitive site. The tent is furnished with two twin beds, a table and two chairs and a banquet providing counter space, storage, a Keurig coffee maker with accoutrement and a generator sufficient for powering it, charging mobile phones/tablets and running a fan or heater. It is easily accessible by vehicles of any sort and within close walking distance to water and clean portable toilet (Bathhouse coming 2025!!) The site can accommodate 1 additional average sized tent or can be used in conjunction with its larger next door neighbor, 'Creekside Safari Tent' (Q,F,T,T) for larger groups that could benefit from the private proximity. *Beds and pillows are protected with covers but Campers are responsible for bringing pillowcases and sheets/sleeping bags * We love dogs! The Creekside Safari Tent has a beautiful long view of the creek winding a path thru the woods. It consists of two zippable bedrooms, one with a queen bed and one with a Full/Twin bunk bed and a living area with a table and four stools. A picnic table and fire-ring are also provided outside. Boasting two decks overlooking the creek and an option to use the wood-fired, fresh-water hot-tub*; the Creekside Tiny House at Tanglewood is perfect for a romantic get away or small family. The space sleeps 3 adults comfortably (and in a pinch, could sleep a 4th slightly less comfortably) in the King loft, Twin berth with pocket door, and on the convertible bench ‘pullout’. There is a tiny but full bathroom and a kitchenette with a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, toaster, and small fridge/freezer. The house is cozy but if you’re like us, you will spend most of your time outside: cooking steaks on the charcoal grill; tending the hot tub in preparation for an evening soak; staring at the campfire from one of four comfy adirondacks; or sipping morning coffee in a glider overlooking the creek. Come see why, with the great outdoors, you only need a tiny house 😊 *** There is a one-time $100 fee to use the Hot tub that includes 2 small starter logs and 4 bundles of wood. It takes between 3-5 hours to heat and is well worth it but you have to be planning to be around, or at least in and out, of the campground in order to tend it periodically. Filling the tub and starting the fire on Friday eve gives you way more flexibility on Saturday. Select the option under 'Extra's' when booking and you will receive explicit Instructions and a Safety document which must be initialed, signed and returned BEFORE THE HOT TUB IS MADE ACCESSIBLE. ***Some aspects of the Tiny house- loft access, bathroom- may not be as comfortable for individuals of significantly larger than average stature. If you are 6’5” you may not be as charmed by the dimensions of the space as some others 😬

Blair was a fantastic host, friendly and quick to respond to any messages through the app. The campsite itself was beautiful, peaceful, and felt very private. The sites are spaced out nicely, giving you a real sense of seclusion, which we really appreciated. While there are no showers on-site, we enjoyed a refreshing dip in the nearby creek to freshen up. Overall, our group had a great experience and would highly recommend this campsite!

Blair was an outstanding host, ensuring we felt welcome from the moment we arrived. He greeted us personally and made sure we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. When we encountered an issue with yellow jackets under our picnic table, he was quick to assist, making our experience even more enjoyable. We stayed at Peppers Point and loved being right by the creek—it was such a peaceful and scenic spot! Our family had a wonderful time and is already looking forward to our next visit to Tanglewood. Highly recommend!

Hilltop Safari Tent

Awesome campsite and the Safari tent was next level camping. Cooked a great campfire meal and was lucky enough to have a late night rain to sleep to. My kind of camping! Blair put me on a great hike, a cool excursion up the mountain to the orchard and a perfect midday lunch spot.

Great peaceful getaway. Easy to find, incredible response time and timeliness from Blair. We were full of questions and he went out of his way to take care of us each time. Safari tent was clean and spacious. Fire ring was great to cook steaks on. Creek was nice for the kids to play. 10/10 recommend.

Overall, we had a nice weekend and the creek is great. We also enjoyed that the place was very dog friendly as we had 3 dogs with us! However, we felt the price was quite high considering the limited amenities. Upon arriving, you have to get out of the car to open a combination key box, then use that key to open a padlock on the gate. Why not simplify the process and just use a combination padlock? Better yet, install a keypad entry that you can reach from your window. This would be more secure and easier to deal with in the rain while coming and going. Also, there is no trash disposal on site. The camp host let us know that we could take our trash 3 miles down the road, but after driving around we were unable to find any nearby business that was willing to let us leave our trash. Driving home with 3 days worth of wet trash in the back seat with dogs trying to get into it is not ideal. For primitive camping, this is one thing, but when you're paying nearly the same price as a rental house (as we were in the glamping tent) you'd expect at least trash pickup to be included. There is a bath house in progress that would help in justifying the high price, but it is not done yet.

We really loved the privacy and space of Pebble Beach campsite! With it being at the end of the drive, we felt like we didn’t have to worry about neighbors and our kids had ample playing space in the river and surrounding area. Packing out trash was told to us beforehand but it would be helpful to have somewhere in mind to dump your trash after camping or do very close to zero waste. Thank you for a great stay! We hope to visit again!

Wow! What a serene and beautiful place!! So many places to hike, the creek was so nice and the safari tent literally had EVERYTHING we needed!! The owners are AMAZING and you can tell they put all of their heart and soul into it. We definitely plan on visiting so much more and telling all of our friends! There isn’t a bad site!!

We had the best time camping here! Instructions were very easy to follow, well water was easy to get to for refills. The creek was beautiful with wonderful views. Portapotty was very close and remained very clean even after a storm came through one night. Blair was very accommodating and responded to questions very quickly! Definitely will be planning another trip back in the future.

We had an incredible experience! The camp site was clean and well kept! The river was beautiful and created the most amazing white noise while sleeping! This was the perfect place to bring children we would most certainly come back to this cite again!

Mt. Glade Safari Tent

The tent was very nice and the site was nicely private, though we could see the people in the tent next to us- but not a bother at a distance. I will say, the tent is unlikely to be nice in the summer because it was hot with so little ventilation and it was on the 60s at night. Creek access wasn't as easy as I expected based on the camp photos. I'd like to see stairs to get down to the creek which was really nice too cool down. But very slippery to get to the lower part of the site

Lovely little spot! Spent a quick couple of nights looking for some piece and quiet. The spaces are far enough apart to offer privacy. Being along the stream was fantastic. This site doesn't have easy access to the stream but I was able to manage. The pups and I enjoyed our time here. I recommend being tick aware. They weren't terrible but regular checks are necessary...it's North Carolina.

We LOVED our stay at Tanglewood and hope to come back with more friends in the future. I'm so happy with the site we picked as well (Pepper's Point). The curves of the creek gave us lots of privacy without being too remote. It was fairly buggy the first night which I worried was from the creek and we had some bees as well so make sure to store your food carefully and bring citronella torches or candles. But on the second night I slept in a hammock without issue and enjoyed the sound of the creek and watched the lightning bugs, it was magical!

Great, super well maintained camp site. The site and creek are beautiful and I'd absolutely stay here again. It has a single tent site with rocks laid down for an even and flat site. The site itself is large enough and flat enough for at least two additional tents. Wood chips cover the site to protect against mud which is a nice touch. I'd consider the site semi-secluded with the left and right neighbors semi close but not right up next to each other like some other sites I've been to. The sound of the creek does cover a lot of the sound. Some other members of my party remarked several times "this is probably the best camp site I've ever been to!"
