(Note: Fireworks, crackers, sparklers, garbage burning are not permitted) Tip: check out the 'Phases of the Moon' calendar in photos before booking! Formerly: Spruill Farm Conservation Project The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has just been set up as conservation easement protected land. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. This makes the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing. Spruill Farm Site #1
Happy Campers!
It was an absolutely great experience!! Site #1 was exactly what we were looking for; it was spacious, on the water and distant enough from our neighbors that we felt alone in the woods. It’s an incredible location if you’re looking for water access. We spent the day on our stand-up paddle board which was only made better by the dolphin pod sighting. Julia was a great host! We’ll be back.

Spruill Farm Site #3
Very pleasant time!!!
We stayed at Spruill Farm Site #3 for 3 nights during the 4th July. We had a wonderful time and truly enjoyed a relaxing time. No crowds or noise! Site #3 is the one closest to the waterfront and we place our tent 10 feet from the water. We even listened to dolphins one night and saw them the following day. You can have a firepit and there are banks to sit on made from trees and a table. This site is the one with less shade so a canopy is a good extra. We swam by the common area and also rented kayaks, which allowed us to explore the sound coastline. On the farm, there are small trails, which are quite nice to hike, and we even saw deer there. Everything was quite pleasant. The host Julia was very welcoming and she was always available. An extra is that you can buy produce from this farm if you wish and support this preservation project!

Water’s Edge Escape
One of the best parts about this campsite is the scenery. The sound is beautiful and so relaxing while taking in the sunsets and sunrises. Being able to camp on the water’s edge is awesome. We have a tent sitting just a couple of feet from the water. The water is perfect for kayaking and cooling off and when the heat hits. There are also a few trails to explore. The campsites are separated with plenty of space in between that you get a great sense of privacy. I would highly recommend camping here to anyone.

The Perfect Summer Getaway!
This space is an absolute gem! We visited in July and campsite 2 was a perfect escape from the heat with constant sea breeze and great tree coverage. The site is steps away from a beach area with really good fishing ( we saw Reddrum and White Perch). The sites are well spaced so we had plenty of privacy but not dangerously "off grid" to access. I still can't believe the view of the stars-breath taking! Spruill Conservation project is a must see location!
