(Note: Fireworks, crackers, sparklers, garbage burning are not permitted) Tip: check out the 'Phases of the Moon' calendar in photos before booking! Formerly: Spruill Farm Conservation Project The Spruill Farm belonged to the Spruill Family for over a hundred years and has just been set up as conservation easement protected land. It includes hardwood forest, swamp, a beautiful swimming beach* on the Albemarle Sound - one of the largest freshwater sounds in the world-, acres of farmland, vegetable garden and perhaps the largest fig orchard for hundreds of miles around. The purpose of the Spruill Farm is to further environmental research, promote ecological education and sustainable practices, and provide access for the public to the ever-diminishing shoreline experience. Please enjoy the incredible sunsets and woodland views, while respecting the serenity of this unique gem on the inner-banks. Wildlife on the property include Red Fox, River Otter, and 95 species of birds, including Bald Eagles (2 nests on the farm), nesting Osprey, Wood Ducks. Visit the 'Spruill Farm Conservation Project' on inaturalist(dot)org to see all 95 species, and upload any images from your observations. Because it is a nature preserve, please read the guidelines and rules closely if you choose to book with us. *Note: the shoreline changes with the wave action and the seasons. This makes the Bobby Wilkins shoreline trail so beautiful- always changing. Spruill Farm Site #2
Fantastic campsite. One of my fav.
Absolutely loved this place. Huge spots, wide open. Beautiful view of the sound. Fire pit, picnic tables etc are fantastic. They provide loads of dry firewood very close to the site. Immaculate Porta John. By time I got there it was pitch black so a bit tricky to find and maneuver to the site. They had laminated maps at the gate though so it was easy to find. There's also cell signal at the site which is a plus. Met the owners for a moment and they were great. This is one of my top Hipcamp I've been to. Highly recommend. Rented a kayak from them and they provided life jackets etc. Can't say enough nice things about this place. And 10 minutes away from gas stations and dollar store for ice or anything you need, which is always convenient when your teenagers forgot to bring anything they were supposed to. Ha.

Site was well kept. It was far enough away from the other camps that privacy was not a concern. Would book again!

This campsite was perfect for a weekend camping trip! The location was great for fishing and hiking around the property, the views from our campsite were gorgeous, and the hosts were more than helpful! We would definitely recommend this spot and we’re looking forward to camping here again in the future!

What an amazing property!
Wow! What an amazing property! This was our second stay here. First time was at site 1, this time was site 3. Both were great. Site 1 was more spread out and better for being IN the water with its little beach. Site 3 was best for fishing! We were very happy at both and will be coming back! The site was clean and private. Julia and Lincoln were wonderfully pleasant, quick to respond and happy to answer any questions. I was also thrilled to see that the port-a-potty was clean and well maintained. The sunsets were to die for and the trails were a very peaceful stroll for my dog and I. By far our new favorite camping site!
