I loved this place! Michelle is wonderful. The property is beautiful, idyllic to camp among the horses. We opted for the fresh farm breakfast and it was SO good. The other add ons are really cool too. I hope we will get to come back.

We had a great time tent camping and enjoying the animals on the farm. Michele was a great host and very patient and accomodating to our girls. I even realized I'd forgotten my sleeping bag and was able to borrow a spare.
This is a great place to come relax and enjoy a farm for a spell.

We really loved staying here! The spot was perfect and our son loved all the animals. Michele and Rick were great and we added on the breakfast which was amazing. We highly recommend and will definitely be going back again and exploring more.

I had the pleasure of staying at Silk Purse Farm during the last leg of a cross country self-contained bicycling journey. It was definitely an experience camping out near chickens and geese…with goats and horses in nearby pens and pasture. There was a shower and bathroom in one of the stables, and there was electricity to charge up all of our devices. If your want to get the feel of being on a farm (and smelling the farm) this is a great place!

Silk Purse Farm RV Camping
I confess when I booked Silk Purse Farm it was because it was the closest location to the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst. But as the days unfolded, I quickly realized we experienced so much more than just a venue that was convenient to the golf course.
From the moment you meet Michelle, you feel like you've been friends for a long time. She is an energetic and engaging host, generous with eggs from the hens and veggies from the garden as well as sharing knowledge about the farm and the area.
We enjoyed a front-row seat to the antics of the goats, sheep, horses, and chickens, This girl from the suburbs enjoyed sitting under the awning of the travel trailer for hours, weaving baskets and watching the goats jump and play on the trampoline.
And if you do feel the need to leave the farm, there's plenty of golf, shopping, and other activities within a 20-minute drive.
Book the stay. It will change your idea of camping!

Michele was very friendly and quick to respond. Even accommodated later arrival due to changes in our travel. The property and animals are awesome! We woke up one morning and had 6 horses and a donkey hanging out with us. We’ve already recommended this location to other campers.

Really bad
The whole campsite was COVERED in horse feces. Animals are in dirty conditions and you can see the ribs on most of the horses. The listing has a bunch of things available at the campsite, but nothing is there when you show up. Maybe they were having an off week, but this place was terrible. I couldn't even stay the night I booked because of the health hazard.

An awesome working farm with free range to see all the animals you want as often as you want. The animals were very comfortable around my 5yo and 8yo which was nice that I didn’t have to worry about watching them like a hawk. The goats were the best part. Very secluded and private. Everyone there was so nice and it was just a peaceful experience.

I don’t know where to start! It was a happy accident that we booked here and honestly this would have been my 1st booking if we had stayed before. Michele and Rick are amazing, so helpful, and just great people. We are considering going full time and the people there are a well of knowledge.
We brought our two dogs and they absolutely loved walking the property, watching the horse and goats. The breakfast was amazing, we did the sausage gravy with biscuits, highly recommend it. We loved it so much that the lady we rented the RV from is booking her trip soon!

Michele was such an incredible host and Silk Purse Farm had a lot going on! There was plenty of space to set up camp and a bathroom available for showers and washing up. We needed more time to spend with the goats (so many baby goats!), horses, chickens, etc. Next time we want to help out with the garden and animals too.

We absolutely loved all the animals. We were greeted by the horses and miniature horses, several times, at our RV. It was such a neat experience. Michele and her family were absolutely wonderful. We learned about spinning the fur/hair of goats and sheep into yarn which was truly fascinating. The energy on the farm was great, and we left feeling so renewed. Hopefully we will be back through that area as we travel back from the west coast so that we can spend more time with the great people and lovely animals. Highly recommend!

The hosts were incredibly kind not to mention the animals were adorable! It was amazing to get to open the door with the animals right in front of us! They would come up to us for some pets and the hosts even let us try to milk the goats! 10/10 recommend!!

The land is beautiful, and the animals are wonderful! Kind and compassionate hosts- incredibly welcoming and helpful! HIGHLY recommend d staying here- they really take pride in your happiness and enjoyment of their space. Nice and quiet location and tons of property to wander about on!

This was fun for the kids because of the animal experience but had some unexpecteds that made it not great for adults.
There is no direction when you arrive. You get to a fence and ???? ….. we let ourselves in but weren’t sure what to do. As you drive up the road it says to find a spot under the trees but the shaded tree areas have 3 campers/trailers already there and look like residents so don’t expect to “camp under trees.”
So since we couldn’t camp there, we literally just guessed we should set up camp in middle of the pasture right off the road. It’s very dry now so expect to get dusty. The horses are kind but again, no direction as to what to do/not do.
There’s a couple structures so finding the bathroom isn’t obvious as there’s no sign. We wandered around, again, not quite sure if we should go or not go. Even though it’s on Hipcamp, you’re on private property so clarity about access is a good idea.
At night, don’t expect quiet as it went from road noise to dogs barking continuously til 1 am, one hr of quiet and then to roosters crowing literally from 2:30 am on. Ha! We slept about 2 hrs.
The host husband was kind. Shower is warm. All in all just expect a very different experience from what you may from pictures may show.

If you love animals and being part of the farm life …. this place is for you! We loved it - even had full hook ups :)
All the animals - ALL of them - are super friendly and comfortable around people.
Michelle and Rick were terrific hosts and it’s evident all the hard work they put into the place! Enjoyed our farm fresh eggs too!
Loved the goats, mini horses, horses, donkey, sheep, pigs, chickens, rooster, ducks and turkey! Something there for everyone!

We loved staying at the Silk Purse Farm in NC. Camping with goats, chickens, ducks, and more waddling around your site was such an experience. Also, sitting outside and watching the horses in the pasture was pretty cool. When we got there they were having a birthday party for some young kids and they were having a blast and then a huge bonfire. This was out first Hipcamp experience and it was a memorable one!
