The following are but a few of our favorite things to do within a short drive: visit Linville Falls, Caverns, Gorge and/or Winery; cruise the Blue Ridge parkway; pick apples at the Orchard at Altapss; tube/kayak down the Catawba river; hike beautiful Tom’s Creek Falls or Crabtree Falls; cross Grandfather Mountains mile high bridge and explore the nearby towns of Spruce Pines or Little Switzerland. The scenic drives to Asheville, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Sugar and Beech mountains make them each wonderful day-trip destinations as well.
We are happy to supply a comprehensive list upon request (including distance, drive time and links with directions) but there is also plenty of exploring to do right at here on site where nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts are encouraged to explore, on foot or mountain-bike, anywhere within our 170 acres (or the adjoining 250 acres owned by the US Forestry Service off our North Western border) and are likely to catch glimpses of turkey, beaver, deer, fox, eastern box turtle and the many species of songbird and raptor.

PLEASE NOTE, our rate is based on the number of vehicles in your group. The first vehicle is included in the nightly rate and admits 4 campers. WE CHARGE FOR ADDITIONAL CARS. The charge will be added to your booking once you select the number of vehicles at checkout.
Please note that each additional car admits four campers. For EXAMPLE, 2 cars = 8 campers total. If you only have two cars but more than eight people, YOU MUST select the "Extra Person" Extra for each night they are camping. Please select these extras at checkout. Our 95-acre farm was once owned by the Davis family who predominantly raised dairy cattle. We now raise the wooly Mangalitsa pig and sell to the best chefs and restaurants. We sell our pork at the farm too!
All of our campsites are next to running water except the two hilltop sites.
Two porta-potties are on the farm and private porta-potties are available for rent. Groups of eight or more are required to rent a porta potty should you not bring your own toilet system with you. We do not allow the use of our small wooded areas as toilets. No porta potties are provided b/tw Dec 15 and March 15

We are 1 mile off of I 40, 17 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, 15 min. to Maggie Valley, 10 min to the Elk at Cataloochee, 25 min to Cataloochee ski area, 10 min to Lake Junaluska and 15 min to downtown Waynesville. Asheville is 20 miles to our East.

Festival season is fast approaching, and we are centrally located for you to take advantage of all the fun festivities! Sites are already booking fast, and we don't want anyone to miss out on the fun!
Please respect our land by not bringing firewood from off-site and burning it here. We are a working farm that allows camping, not a campground. Our native trees and crops could easily be devastated by outside diseases or pests that are carried in firewood. We offer firewood for sale from our farm (delivered to your site for no additional fee). You do NOT have to purchase it prior to your arrival, and we have large tubs too!
Our STORE offers firewood, meats, eggs, Tallow, lard (both rendered right here!), drinks, Amish ice cream and jams/jellies/preserves, hammocks, hammock chairs, smoked dog bones, soaps (made right here), rentals of: cast iron cookware, a tent, Coleman stove, fishing poles, ... and MUCH MORE!
Please note that all our sites are reserved with a one vehicle limit. Some sites are large enough to accommodate additional vehicles but each additional vehicle will incur a $10 per night charge. Free parking for additional vehicles is located at the office/store.
Looking for a camping experience with a little luxury to boot? Look no further than our Oasis at Harmon Creek Farms! You can drive right up to most sites, weather permitting. You will have access to a fire ring and picnic table (located at each site), firewood for sale on site (please do not bring firewood from off-site), clean well water (located near the pond), the creek to explore, our stocked pond to fish, and wooded trails to hike. Once roamed by Native Americans and now farmed by the same family for over 6 generations, Harmon Creek Farm is a working farm of over 160 acres. Peace, quiet, tranquility and privacy are overflowing along the creek, and hiking throughout the hills on the backside of the farm (and on the other side of the creek) leads to interesting and abundant flora and fauna. The stocked, spring fed pond is 'brimming" with angler challenges🎣

Sleep under the stars while listening to the river run while staying on a working farm! During the summer months watch our vegetables grow and the pickers pick! The winter months you'll enjoy a sea of green as our cover crop takes over the field.
You can cool off in the river or check out the surrounding Pisgah National Forest. Dogs on leashes are welcome and owner is responsible for cleaning up after pet.
The farm provides a portable toilet but no other amenities. Campfires may be restricted, so check local regulations. This is a working farm, so please be respectful of the crops and workers and keep dogs on leashes. Fishing is NOT allowed on the river unless you have booked a trip with one of our guides. Please note, if it’s rainy the roads will be muddy and 4-wheel-drive vehicles are the best option.
Head 4 miles east to the town of Mills River for restaurants, stores, and services. You can find hiking, biking, and horseback-riding trails within a short bike or car ride in Pisgah National Forest. Chimney Rock State Park is 25 miles east and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountain scenery. Or perhaps go for a drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Bald Eagles have been seen on April 27th, 2026! The views are hypnotic, looking down and out over the continental divide. Good morning, and sunsets can be seen from the same spot. Your car is parked within feet of your deck, so Car Campers and experienced campers can enjoy. Designed with campers and dogs in mind. The deck is large (384 square feet) with a tin roof. Some are two-thirds, and some are one-third, depending on what one wants for tent size or sun exposure. (See pictures of each site/deck) Each deck features sun and rain curtains to help keep you comfortable in both sunny and rainy weather. Dogs enjoy a two-gate system that allows guests and dogs to be leash-free and away from the road. All dog owners know to pick up after their pets. The human Private Porta John is cleaned frequently. Lights and electrical outlets are 110V (3 prongs) for YOUR coffee pots, electric grills, mattress inflators, crockpots, electric blankets, fans, etc. I do not provide any electrical appliances, other than counter area lighting and low-level string lights, so one can see the night sky. PMany of my campers will "Pay it Forward" and leave coffee pots, hot plates, fans and such, so count yourself lucky to find a deck with them. I provide chairs, 5 gallons of fresh water in containers, a fickle solar shower, and a pop-up changing room, along with an assortment of camping supplies from dog bowls to antimicrobial. I provide various-size garbage bags to manage your garbage. Your parking area is next to the deck. Black Mountain’s tasty restaurants are 4 miles away, and All Trails is an excellent app for finding trails suited for your interests. Be respectful, please.
Private Glamping Decks with a view that pictures do not do justice. Private decks on a dead-end gravel road mean hopefully the sounds will only be of nature. The conveniences of electricity, porta john, water, chairs, table, roof, cleaning supplies, rain curtains, and astounding views have my Glampers coming back often. Designed with Dogs in mind with a two-gate system and no need for a leash when on the deck. Obnoxious, barking dogs are not welcome, so bring only controlled and well-socialized dogs. Help me keep it dog-friendly. Never block the road with a park car.

Our farm is vast and sparse,
focusing on sustainability while giving back to the community. We are a safe haven for animals and humans alike.
Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and wildflowers galore. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.25 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend)
If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close.

The climb up sunrise mountain is bumpy, be warned, and do adhere to the conversation and guidance of the host on the call or in person meeting preclimb. Even though the section titled “the climb” is passed each and every visit by capable awdr and 4wdr vehicles, this does not mean everyone is capable of picking a thought out path. Thankfully everyone of our guest have been wonderful in the over 8 years with zero damage to their vehicles. MSG for more info.

We're about 10-15 minutes' drive away from downtown Asheville and a $12-$15 Uber ride. Unfortunately, public transportation is not very accessible from the campground.
*FAQ: Is this a good spot to bring my kiddos?
Our campground is not equipped to handle the magical, whirlwind force that children release unto the world. There's a lot of breakable stuff, tempting treehouses (that might be occupied by other guests!), sites that are within earshot of each other, and hazards that aren't a good fit for kids.
WHAT'S NEARBY?
- There are approximately a bajillion breweries in Asheville, many of which are within 5-15 minutes away.
- Downtown Asheville (~10-15 minutes), West Asheville (~5-10 minutes) and the River Arts District (~5 minutes)
-Hiking! Waterfalls, mountain-top views, fog-drenched valleys, rambling rivers... There are some trails about 20 minutes away, but to get to the good stuff, you'll drive 40-90+ minutes.

Unbelievable location! It was my 14 year old daughter’s first time camping, so I figured the dome, creek, and a toilet would be a good introduction. I hung my hammock the first night and slept in it. There was a torrential downpour and thunderstorms the second night, so I stayed in my tent. Unfortunately it was a little too chilly and rainy to swim and float, but I would love to come back in the future. The location truly cannot be beat. Such a gem!

We loved the cabin! It's very remote and not a cabin like "glamping" it's a cabin tent but with a shelter (what we wanted). Although there is 2 other tent sites that Brian has, there was one other camper there but we didn't even know that the were there! (with the creek sound, it's very loud but peaceful) 100% would recommend if you're into relaxing, a peaceful setting, looking at the stars or just getting away!

This is one of my favorite places to camp. This was my second time camping here and will definitely be back. The views from sites 7-9 are incredible. Camp host is very helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend for those who love primitive camping.

We had a wonderful trip again this year. The rain caused us to stay at a different site than usual. We chose when we arrived and enjoyed Site 5. This was our 3rd time camping at Harmon Creek Farms, and I sincerely hope it won’t be our last. Our son met us for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday and enjoyed exploring the creek for a bit before heading home. This is a wonderful place to stay, and you couldn’t ask for nicer hosts. Thank you!

Weekend Trip to Black Barn Farm
I would recommend this spot 100%! I’ve been coming here for over 2 years now. I come when I need rest, want to feel childlike wonder again, or would like to enjoy some fresh air. I’ve camped in a tent as well as most of the extraordinary cabins. The family on the property is compassionate, creative, and extremely kind. The animals are a bonus!

I loved camping at Blue Bear Mountain! I was in site 11 which was very secluded yet walkable to the bathhouse. I really appreciated they had a dish washing station stocked with cleaning stuff. The hosts were amazing, very patient with me as I arrived 3 days late. Plus it's nicely located near great outdoors spots in WNC. I highly recommend!

Even through a weekend of rain, we still had a great time! We were on the end at Site 12 and had a awesome view of the river. We were also just stones throw away from the community area with tables and hammocks. Took out the floats and relaxed on the river. Will definitely be returning one day!

Catherine and Rick have created such a special place to camp! Every time we visit, the campsites are spotless, and even the porta potties are always incredibly clean, which says a lot about how much they care about their guests.
They are some of the kindest and most welcoming hosts you’ll meet, making you feel right at home from the moment you arrive. The farm itself is absolutely stunning, with breathtaking views, a beautiful river that’s perfect for relaxing, and wonderful animals to see throughout the property.
If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic getaway with exceptional hospitality, I can’t recommend this place enough. It truly feels like a hidden gem. 1,000% recommend, and we can’t wait to come back!

Catherine and Rick have a beautiful property that overlooks the river and so many friendly animals to visit! The camp site was absolutely beautiful and very spacious! You can walk down the bank to the river and there are even a few trees you can hammock in! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and can’t wait to come back again with our family!

The farm was gorgeous and "the rocks" camping site was huge with plenty of space for our large group. Catherine was extremely helpful and quick to reply with any questions we had. The location is close to hiking trails and nice restaurants. I would definitely recommend this site.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Only one night, but it was perfect! Rained during our stay, but we stayed dry in the tent. Was not damp at all either, which we had an issue with at other places we stayed. Sealed doors kept the mosquitoes out. Porch allowed us to enjoy some outside time without getting wet. Our dogs seemed to enjoy it, as well. Felt very private. Host instructions and communication were great. New bathhouse was AMAZING! Wish we could have stayed longer. Highly recommend; would happily stay again if in the area!
