You've been given the key. Come experience 60-acres of private mountain land off the Blue Ridge Parkway with big mountain views, lush Appalachian forest, & our very own waterfall! Inspired by the tale of a young gnome who discovers the power of gratitude in the forest. We bring Hoot Owl Ridge to you with in the same spirit. We are within 15 min of three magnificent waterfalls (Crabtree, Grassy Creek, & Tom's Creek), and only 25 mins from Linville Gorge! Though we are very secluded in the mountains, Walmart is only 5 mins down the road. Spruce Pine is 10-15 mins and has food, grocery, gas, hospital, and a brewery. Marion is a bigger town with mostly anything you could be looking for and is about 20mins away down the mountain. If you want some city buzz, head to vibrant Asheville under an hour away, where you'll find endless art, restaurants, breweries, live music, and more. Live closer to the earth, the mountains, the curious creatures, and return home with some gratitude!

Embrace your gnome and reconnect with your roots off-the-grid in our local handmade yurt just 3 mins from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Wake up to the sun pouring through the canopy, and sip your coffee as the sun awakens the mountains. Take a morning walk on your own wooded trail to the waterfall before heading out to chase the waterfalls. Retreat to a campfire, then drift off to the barred owls hooting across the valley. PLEASE NOTE that you will encounter our bug and spider friends — they help keep things in balance. This is not a hotel room in the woods (read all details below!). Trip Tip: For an epic sunrise, take an 10-min walk down the road to our big mountain overlook for some golden hour magic. Bring coffee! Host Note: Morning views are spectacular here. Grab your coffee and walk down the road to our big mountain overlook about 30 to 45 mins after sunrise. FRIENDS: There is only 1 king bed. If you have friends who would like to join, they are welcome to pitch a tent on the cleared area by the fire pit (maximum of 2 additional guests). KITCHEN: You will have a gas grill and side burner cooking setup with two 5-gallon water jugs, sink basin, and a 55-quart cooler pre-filled with ice. POWER: Portable solar battery provides plentiful power for device charging, lights, and a standing fan. BATHROOM: We have a clean outhouse for you by the parking area. This fully off-grid experience is designed for a group of 3 or 4 looking for campfires, coffee, and waterfalls. Enjoy a morning yoga session on the spacious deck overlooking Pisgah National Forest, or take a hike to our on-site waterfall. PLEASE NOTE You will encounter our bug and spider friends- they help keep things in balance. This is closer to camping than a hotel room (read all details below!). Host Notes: Summer evenings here stay cool compared to the valley- a perfect break from the heat. BEDS: There are 2 memory-foam king beds and 4 yoga mats. Friends can pitch their own tent by the fire pit. KITCHEN: A covered outdoor kitchen equipped with a BBQ grill single-stove burner cooktop, two 5-gallon water jugs, a sink basin, and a big cooler pre-filled with ice. POWER: A solar battery and 400W of solar panels for device charging, lights, and a standing fan. HEAT: A propane heater is provided with 20lb propane tank for heating. Staying at the yurt was the best week I’ve had in a long time. So peaceful and beautiful, the yurt was lovely and cozy and immediately felt like home. I loved being immersed in nature everyday but still having a very comfortable bed. Hiking the trails on the property and sitting by the waterfall and creek were so restorative. We really enjoyed our time on the property. Normally when we come to Pisgah we backpack camp, but this time we wanted something a little more cozy. It was the perfect amount of camping with a touch of comfort. Our dogs had so much fun as well. One of my favorite things was being able to catch the sunrise just a quick morning hike up the driveway.

This site was great for a quick weekend getaway- everything you need is there. The bed was very nice and comfortable- we were comfortable, but there was a fan to cool it down and extra blankets for when its chilly. We felt very private and did not see anyone else. The listing is true about lots of spiders. Only negative/con- the dish sponge was very gross and used and dish soap was too watered down (I saw one negative review about this and wish I brought my own). There was a "cold plunge" near our site and when we walked over, there was 1' of pretty gross water. Would still stay there again!

My first experience on Hipcamp couldn’t have gone any better! Evan was an amazing host. Gnomes Yurt was everything my wife and I wanted. The backdeck has an amazing view of the local foliage and the mountains. Outdoor shower was lite and refreshing. The .1 mile walk to the local waterfall was the icing on the cake. This was our first wedding anniversary and it was perfect in every aspect.

One of my favorite stays during our trip! Loved all the homey touches in the dome. Rained overnight, but we stayed dry! Dome was not damp like another one we stayed in. Generator was great for the lights and fan at night. Pit toilet was clean and outdoor shower was a plus. Was really nice being able to relax and have the dogs off-leash on the fenced deck. Super peaceful! Highly recommend; would gladly stay here again when in the area!

The yurt was amazing! Large, lots of cute little touches and the power bank was nice for (limited) electricity. It was rainy and cool while there so I didn't use the fan, or propane heater, but great to have if needed. Fun to explore the trails and was a beautiful setting.

We had a lovely time here. The yurt had everything we needed. The grill and burner were perfect for cooking and making coffee. The property was private and it felt like being alone in nature but with everything we could possibly need. The yurt had a battery that we could use to charge our phones and they had a fan to keep the home cool. We are hoping to come back again!

Fairy Grove Yurt, Trails & Kitchen
Exceeded our expectations! Such a nice place to experience nature and solitude. We had our 8 year old son and two dogs and the place was the perfect size for all of us. We enjoyed a rinse off with the outdoor shower, roasted marshmallows, hiked to the waterfall and just enjoyed each other. Highly recommended and would love to come back and stay a little longer.

Such a magical place! Well thought out and private space where we enjoyed relaxing and exploring here and locally with our pup. We didn’t expect it to go from super warm to super cold but we’re well taken care of and comfortable in our yurt by using open windows with the fan and the propane heater that last freezing morning! We loved unplugging and being present and will be back.

We absolutely loved staying here! I wanted to camp for my birthday, but with a busy work schedule packing for camping sounded stressful. I probably overpacked, as the yurt was well appointed with basic needs & in the kitchen. The beds were comfy, if very firm. The space was clean as well as the outhouse. The only bummer, no fault of the owner, was it hadn’t rained in a while so the shower was completely dry. Day 3 we drove 30 miles away to plant fitness to bathe😆 Everything was wonderful, it felt as if you were in nature except extremely comfortable! Tons of hiking within a 45 minute drive. We really liked the view on top of Hawkesbill! The butterflies and wood peckers were plentiful. There is a really cool used bookstore close in Little Switzerland,. The sweetest touch was the beautiful hand written card that greeted us, as well as the gratitude journal. Loved the games & was grateful for the book left, although it was my 5th time reading it. Really liked the story of Evan and his partners journey to starting this magical place. We briefly met him walking towards the waterfalls and he was kind & friendly. The whole stay felt private & spiritual, exactly what I needed after working in busy bars talking & listening all day. It was a great birthday & we definitely will be back!

Wow! We love checking out unique spots to get outdoors with comfort. Evans set up was amazing. The yurt was such a comfortable, perfectly set up, fun way to stay at such a fun place to explore! From the bedding to the kitchen set up, everything was truly thought of! We had a little car trouble and as soon as Evan saw us he stopped to check in and even loaned us some jumper cables AND invited us to use the sauna with them! Happy to support awesome people and stay at a one of a kind place.

Our stay at Gnome Yome was a great experience. The yurt was cozy, clean, and spacious with the perfect balance of rustic charm and modern comfort. I loved seeing the beautiful mountain views right from inside the yurt. One of the best parts was being able to walk to a waterfall just a few minutes away, along with other hiking trails with our two dogs. The yurt had everything you need, and we especially loved the private grill for cooking. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with beautiful views.

I decided last minute that my pup and I would spend the week leading up to Christmas here and it was the best decision ever. We absolutely loved everything about it. The trails on-site, the driveway with amazing views of the blue ridge mountains, beautiful sunrises every single day. The first night it was in the 20s and the heaters were great at keeping us warm. If you’re unsure whether or not you want to book this place, this is your sign. My dog didn’t want to go home and that hasn’t happened before.

Super unique little yurt camp out in the NC Blue Ridge. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for an easy glamping experience that's a very affordable way to stay in the area really nearby Little Switzerland, Linville, Grandfather mountain, etc..The property itself still feels remote as it is situated on the side of a nearby mountain. That being said, be prepared to drive carefully on the property, especially if you have a smaller car, as the drive is a bit rugged. Very doable even in our little hybrid 2 seater, but take your time in inclement weather (even in early December, we still had a lovely time, and enjoyed the tranquility). Would totally return if we come back through the area!

My family and I loved this glamping experience! The yurt was spacious and cozy, and the beds were super comfortable and it was easy to find/navigate to. The space had all the amenities and supplies you need on site, which made packing a breeze. We enjoyed sitting around the fire and stargazing, the mountain views from the deck, and playing the games provided. Would definitely recommend this experience!

Perfect escape to the mountains!

I can’t say enough about how great this place is! The property is beautiful, and also secure. I felt safe being there. The different sites are far enough from one another that you don’t feel like you’re there with anyone or on top of each other. The yurt itself (I stayed in the Gnome) was clean and well kept, had every thing I could need or want. It was comfortable and felt very cozy on the chilly nights. Sitting on the deck for breakfast and dinner was perfect. The view is beyond words! Having utensils, propane heat, electricity for basics like charging electronics, and everything I need for cooking was perfect. Add on top of that the little additional things like games, towels, a little rechargeable and portable lamp, and cleaning supplies, this place was perfect! Even if I never left the property it was an amazing vacation with great hiking and a beautiful serene escape. My dogs both loved being able to explore off leash and I never felt like they were unsafe. I’m already planning my trip back next fall with my entire family!

I loved my stay, the yurt was immaculate and the property beautiful and fun to explore! It was such a good time I booked another night while I was out there; the host was amazing and I will definitely be back. 10/10

Amana's Dream Ridge in Old Forest
This site was so great and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to camp in the area. The amenities provided were very nice and made the trip enjoyable. Also, the beds were super comfortable

April’s Treetop Dome, High Mtn View
i absolutely loved staying here! the bed was so comfy, the towels were lovely, the coffee was amazing, the yurt was spacious & the heater was very nice. i loved all the personal touches like the gratitude journal & the games and activities for guests to do- i wish i had more time here! my only complaint would be that the outdoor shower water was FREEZING- would love to have a warm shower. might be OK / better in the warmer months

Hidden Oasis in the mountains
April’s Treetop Dome, High Mtn View
Literally the most earth-friendly place I’ve ever stayed! I’m an experienced camper and boondocker who has owned multiple RVs, so I know my nature vibes—and this spot truly blew me away. It offered the perfect balance of comfort and connection to the outdoors. The dome felt like a romantic getaway surrounded by nature, yet had all the amenities you could ask for: a private shower, a grill with a burner, pots and pans, electricity, and even great cell reception. It was peaceful, rejuvenating, and thoughtfully designed with sustainability in mind. I’ll definitely be coming back—and honestly, I could see myself staying here for an entire month if possible.
