Saint Anne's Chapel and Oak Grove Retreat Center is a unique historical venue for your next camp site in the Tarboro area of North Carolina. The farm was originally established in 1832 by the Pender Family. On the current 25 acres is a restored 1920s Episcopal Mission Church with parklike grounds that is maintained year-round and has a rich and interesting history. We have host a wide variety of events over the years, including weddings, receptions, meetings, retreats, drum circles, sound healing's, festivals and more. Camping is available in the field or in the 17 acre woods. Learn more about this land: Welcome to Oak Grove - a property with a 100 year old deconsecrated Episcopal church, beautiful woods, and amazing grandfather oaks. A common site for weddings, drum circles, and other metaphysical and spiritual happenings, the property has a labyrinth, a free expression chalkboard, a Zen sand box that are free to use.  A short walk down the wooded trail brings you to a small clearing with a central fire pit and several areas suitable for a tent. Situated close to a road, traffic can be heard but easily tuned out, particularly as the road gets much quieter at night. The woods are next to a large open field that is great for star gazing.  Bring your hammock!

Beautiful grounds and helpful host. Note it's not the big church you will pass first. It's just immediately before Howard. Hard to see the entrance at night. Owners do not necessarily answer the phone they have posted on their site so use the Hip Camp app to contact.

"We LOVED that campsite!"
Wow, what a great time! What a wonderful experience! Stayed for two nights with my wife and four young children. Near the end they were all begging to stay longer. Our hosts were welcoming, very accommodating and wonderful to talk with and learn from. We had the entire place to ourselves. Plenty of beautiful nature and forests for short walks / hikes. Large open fields for tossing frisbees, footballs or stargazing. When we crossed the Virginia state line to go back home our 9 year old son read the State motto and said "Virginia is for Lovers, and we LOVED that campsite!" what more is there to say? We look forward to returning :)

Delightful stay
This was a great experience overall. The hosts are kind and welcoming. Sites are clean. The chapel is wonderful. Toilets are maintained and unoffensive. The only real con that we experienced was some traffic noise at night when trying to sleep, so bring some ear plugs. A potential con, depending on how you like to camp, is that you'll be sharing a fire ring with whoever else is there.

Beautiful property
A beautiful place to camp with nature trails and a beautiful church and very clean composting toilet. Didn't get a chance to explore much this time around, but hope to walk the nature trails next time! Not far from Rocky Mount also.

Highly recommended
The site was comfortable, hosts very welcoming, and everything was very well kept. We appreciated the firewood and firepit. It was great to be able to camp in Tarboro, we are slowly kayaking down the Tar River. We will return and hopefully have time to explore some of the other features of the property.

We were welcomed with open arms upon our arrival and the welcoming sentiment Carried throughout our whole stay. A gorgeous property with plenty of space to roam and explore. The large fire pit was perfect for roasting dinner and dessert while watching the sunset. We especially liked the wooded trails and eclectic natural spaces, where you can stretch both body and mind. My family looks forward to our next visit!

We didn't see the host Kevin much, but he was great at communicating. The camp did take a minute to find because the pin we were given took us to the wrong side of the road. Overall it was a good site - very peaceful with a lot of cool touches. There were quite a few spiders in the bathroom which I personally didn't love, but overall it was a good experience!

Pristine forest and friendly host
Kevin's property is an interesting and wonderful location. It's at a semi busy light and next to a farm, but once you drive in, it's completely secluded. The trees line the property on both sides, with a dense forest on the left and a large open field in the center. Kevin was friendly and told us about a renowned guest staying on the property. Kevin was friendly and was an awesome host. We loved the open air feel as we drove in and appreciated the forest where there was a smaller trail already created. The church on site is magnificent and should be explored (with permission). Take a walk, hang out around the campfire, explore the grounds.

Wonderful Hosts & Charming Property
We loved our stay at Oak Grove Farm. The property is beautiful, and the hosts were kind and welcoming. There is a charming church on the property where the hosts hold events, a sprawling green lawn, a covered wooden platform, buddha statues, Tibetan flags...overall a great vibe. The traffic from the road was slightly louder than we expected –– bring ear plugs. This was worth the tradeoff of being able to camp on such a great property. We would return in a heartbeat.

This space was amazing! Sunday meditation with Lipbone Redding was one of the coolest perks I could think for a campsite to have. One of a kind experience if this place sounds good to you definitely check it out. Great hosts, great amenities, and I had a fantastic time.
