Mountain Paradise

Awesome campsite beside a beautiful creek surrounded by mountain laurels and rhododendrons. The hike down and back out was a great little workout that helps to ensure your seclusion. It was a very peaceful spot. We will definitely return!

Beautiful view and great skies.

The view is beautiful as everybody else said. There's also plenty of space and he was nice enough to leave behind a decent pack of logs for the campfire. There are a few things that some people might consider downsides that I didn't see listed in the reviews. Though it isn't busy, the campsite is pretty close to the road. Maybe 30ft or so. While I was there, one of the neighbors happened to be doing some construction well into the night and two neighbors have pretty persistent outside dogs. The owner (I'm guessing) showed up during one of the days to do some construction on a cabin he's building a little bit further down the hill (great spot for a cabin). Though he left around sundown. Again, beautiful site and I'm greatful to have spent the weekend there, just wanted to share some details.

This campsite was absolutely beautiful, honestly even better than we expected! It was huge, peaceful, and surrounded by the most stunning fall foliage? Between exploring up and down the creek, the little waterfalls, and the quiet wood paths, it felt like our own private retreat. We ended up staying all four days without leaving once, we just wandered up and down the creek, read, relaxed by the fire, and enjoyed the scenery. It was perfect! Now, getting there is a bit of an adventure! The drive up and down the mountain was pretty scary, and the hike from the parking area to the campsite is steep. It is totally doable, but definitely a workout. We left some things in the car and made a few trips up when we needed to. The provided cart helped a ton (honestly, we don’t know what we would’ve done without it), but hauling camping gear like tents and cots still wasn’t an easy task, and we’re fairly fit people! That being said, it was so worth it! The peace, beauty, and space made it one of the best camping experiences I’ve ever had. I’d absolutely do it all over again just to experience this place one more time!

Incredible views

Absolutely stunning views. Mostly very quiet with some quaint country sounds like an occasional donkey or hound dog. Dead end road so almost no traffic. We had our 13 foot camper pulled by a mid sized truck so it took some maneuvering to get into place. The " exit" drive has deep ruts so its better to go in and out from the " entrance" drive.

I can’t emphasize enough go read the reviews before you stay. The site description is very vague and not true to the actual hike in and out of camp. For context, I am a college track and field athlete and run for a living 7 days a week, my girlfriend has played soccer for 10+ years and we are both very athletic compared to most, and we hike/camp multiple times a year. The “hill” you have to go up is not a hill at all, it is full on a mountain that you are going up, very steep, very slick in the fall because of leaves, and if you don’t backpack in lightly you will regret having to pull the wagon up the hill, which was a lifesaver so thank you to the host for that. All in all it wasn’t a bad stay, the pictures are definitely photoshopped or highly edited the water is not very much to talk about just a skinny stream between some nice big rocks but the noise is great. We stayed at waterfall wonderland and the site beside us had a huge blue tarp strung in the trees which was sort of an eye sore the whole trip. Along with random bouts of wood strewn about that the host said not to move. And what appeared to be an abandoned outhouse stuffed with trash beside a moldy hammock hanging in the trees from paracord. All of the other sites seemed nice and the benches on the site were great to have for storage and seating, the provided chairs were also a nice touch. All in all not a bad place just READ THE REVIEWS before you stay, the hike in and out is very demanding for the mediocre site.

all the reviews about it being so steep are very silly. they must not be much of true camper. lol. pack light but it’s not that long of a walk, and yes it’s steep but worth it. will be back so soon. host is great and communicates well :) spaced out between other sites perfectly.

Rustic Camping with a View

Jungle Island was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful! The creek running through the site was amazing and absolutely loved listening to the water flow through while drifting to sleep. Definitely pack light as it is a steep hike down to the private site. But it was definitely worth it and would love to come back and stay again.

This is an incredibly beautiful site that is incredibly hard to reach. While the actual distance from the parking lot to the campsite can't be more than a quarter of a mile, the incredibly steep incline of the trail to and from the site makes it really un enjoyable. A friend and I checked out the site this weekend. We backpack regularly and packed very light knowing we would need to walk to the site. We attempted to use the wagon that was provided at the site the first day to take items to the river, and quickly learned that trying to move the wagon up and down the hillside was even harder than just carrying items. By the time we got everything down to the river, and the cart back up to the top, we were totally exhausted. The level of exhaustion really kept us from wanting to go out and hike over the weekend as much as we have originally planned. Again, the site itself is really beautiful on the river, the steep grade of the trail makes it a place I would not recommend staying unless you are intending to hike into your site and spend a few days there without leaving. For the amount of work required to get to this site, you would be better off to look at some free dispersed camping in the national forest where you could get just as beautiful of a site with less of a treck.

Creek camping in a forest

This jungle island campsite was a truly unique experience. The host’s instructions were very clear, which helped a lot since the trek down to the site near the creek was quite steep and challenging — definitely recommend packing light! We knew it would be tricky when we booked, but it was absolutely worth it. Once we reached the site, it felt like a hidden paradise. We didn’t see another person for an entire day, offering complete solitude and immersion in nature. Huge thanks to the host for listing such a special place and giving people the chance to explore this untouched spot.

Creekside was great! Our two boys (8 and 12) had loads of fun in the creek. Ryan greeted us when we arrived and was very helpful. Grocery store is only 10min away. I recommend buying a few floaties if you have kids. The hike to and from creekside can be strenuous if you’re making multiple trips between creekside and the parking area and/or carrying a lot of stuff. There is a wagon there but it may already be in use by other campers so don’t count on it. Overall, very peaceful site and pretty private. The sound of the creek at night makes it easy to fall asleep. We got in the creek about 15 times a day and was a great way to cool off fast in July. We would definitely come back!

Peaceful and tranquil

Such a lovely peace of property and perfect camping spot. My dog and I explore and enjoyed our time here very much. It was so tranquil and beautiful. I will say getting down was definitely as hard as everyone says. I backpacked in to pack lightly but struggled hard and slipped due to it being steep/muddy and no natural foot holds. Although it was a bit amusing how much it was a struggle, I do not recommend for beginners or if you plan to bring a lot of stuff. Pack light, good boots. Maybe clip your bag to the rope they have up or slide it down as you go so you can focus on your footing as you go down. Good luck, it is worth the trouble if you understand the terrain you'll be dealing with.

The camp site was very pretty and secluded, but just be prepared to take the walk down. The trail to the camp site is down a very steep hill, make sure to pack light. There were several dogs roaming at night which came up to the tents in the middle of the night. Additionally, the owners were not reachable through the number provided and did not respond to calls. Overall I had a nice time, but would hesitate to return due to these reasons.

First of all, let me say it is not a 5 minute walk to the campsites. You get to the dirt rd and it's nothing but grass and weeds as tall as 4 to 5ft. Even on the driveway in the middle. Then you pass what appears to be a lab in a little abandoned looking camper, then you reach the owners home. There, he has a 4x5 wagon with plastic tires, waiting for us to use to help take anything down to the sites with us. HA! To be most accurate with the "5 minute walk downhill" it is A 2 MILE HIKE DOWN AND UP 1 TRIP. with rocks and extremely steep inclines!!!! Would not recommend for family sized groups unless you are going to primarily hike! The waterfall is small as well and nothing short of chimney tops or any other rock formation within the river.

Stay at the waterfall wonderland

Ryan had a few great spots on his property, but we got lucky booking his “waterfall wonderland” it was the most gorgeous spot. We went during the perfect time, nice and cool at night and not too hot during the day. The fireflies were magical and the roaring waters lulled us to sleep. However, head warning, pack light! He does offer a wagon to help transport gear, however that trip back up can be hell if you over pack. Only bring the essentials!

Our campsite was absolutely stunning and so peaceful. I will say that walk is not terribly difficult if you are empty handed, but hauling gear does make it a challenge! The site was well worth the walk. Pack light because it is a pretty steep walk. That property is a slice of heaven for sure.

Beautiful but misleading host

Ryan was great to communicate with and the site was beautiful! BUT the description is SO misleading. I saw someone else review saying that the trail to the camp was brutal and I thought “I work out every day, I can do it.” OMG no. It is HORRIBLE!!! The way down is soooo steep and bringing your gear down is difficult. But the way up takes about thirty minutes. They only have one wagon and tell you to bring it back up. By the time I was set up and brought the wagon back up it the sun was being the trees and to cold to get in the water. I messaged Ryan before hand to make sure the trail wasn’t treacherous because we had a 10 year old dog that needs a leg brace and another dog Who recently had lost a leg so we were trying to find an easy walk for her. Ryan said that it was completely fine. I’m upset that he did not mention the incline or how at the end it does become difficult. We ended up having to carry a very heavy dog at the end of, the hike to be able to get to our campsite. I was also told that I could not have a larger party because a couple nights before me they had a larger party who was difficult for them. I was not involved with this group, but still not able to have more people. It’s like a business saying I couldn’t be hosted because they had a previous guest that sucked. I cannot state enough how misleading this is about the hike down and up. I timed myself making it up the next day. Even the guest at the campsite beside us were surprised how the path is.

Great Weekend Getaway

We LOVED our campsite at Creekside Paradise. The area was spacious, felt very private, and was naturally stunning. It felt like our own little wonderland. The only downside to staying here is that the site is at the base of a very VERY steep set of hills, so getting down and back up with your gear a bit challenging unless you've packed everything on your backs. The host did provide a Gorilla Cart which was helpful for our gear. I would 100% stay here again, I'd just pack my gear a little differently! Thank you for having us!

We had a great time at Mountain Paradise. Although, I do believe the description and other reviews are a bit deceiving. The “short 5 min walk” to down to the camp site is 10 mins down and 20 mins up for 2 physically fit people. Then you add your supplies and it adds even more time. We packed fairly light and even still we were exhausted from the trip up and down. I also saw another review call the campsite “pristine” but that’s not how I would describe it. There is trash all along the river side and the trail is not maintained. The place is nice, just not as described and the hike up and down hung over our heads the whole time.
