The first day my ex-partner and I landed in North Carolina, a friend showed us this land and said it had just gone for sale that day, and that everyone wanted it.  I contacted the sellers, kind local folks who took a shine to us and wanted us to have it.  It was so incredibly beautiful, wild, and special, with the best view I had ever seen, that we just knew we had to buy it and move from California where we had lived all our lives. We spent years working around the clock to develop roads, water systems, and built a house, with the intention of creating a sanctuary for nature lovers.  He left me four years ago for a young girl, and I have continued my dream alone, creating a community kitchen with the special hardwoods we logged and milled, and building an incredible hobbit house.   It’s a place so wild that you hear nature sounds you can’t even identify — and only 20 minutes from Asheville!

Gorgeous hobbit!
Amazing place! The property has everything you need. Pictures don't do it justice. There is a great view of the mountains from the bed.

Fantastic views, private
Beautiful meadow and set up there. Super mellow. Great nature vibes and a really good view looking down a valley and seeing a series of peaks farther in the horizon.

magical mountainside paradise
Elicia’s place is something of magic. First off, this was our first time using Hipcamp and the experience couldn’t have been more smooth and amazing. The detailed directions she sent after our booking was accepted was concise and informative. Upon our arrival her caretaker April and her husband met us to show us the grounds, what we needed to know, and even had some really sweet hiking recommendations in the area. We picked the perfect, private little spot down through the meadow, tucked away in the trees and wild grasses, and it couldn’t have been more surreal. The walking trail to the property is well made and when that view opens up, it’s pretty magical. We brought everything to be self sufficient but there was an outdoor kitchen offered for those who needed and everything you could need was provided as well as a stunning picturesque view where one could sit and drink coffee or just be. My husband, the kids, and I really enjoyed our meals there, morning coffee watching the clouds float by, and random trips up for snacks (we stored our cooler up here just to be safe, bears) . There are pretty trails throughout the property, a flowing creek, some really gorgeous Airbnb’s (and even when peeps were there it was still super private, yet the sense of community was amazing), and stunning views. We also came during firefly season which honestly is one of the most magical things we have witnessed, highly recommend! The night sky lit up like Christmas, only better. Seriously surreal. The wildflowers sprinkled throughout the entire mountainside made my kids the happiest and made for some delightful smells. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed this campsite and definitely plan to return. Thank you for sharing such an amazing piece of earth with us, we are very grateful.
