For the price, the site is okay. However, you’re right next to another campsite with almost nothing in between, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for privacy. It’s also not the most accessible—you have to haul all your gear up a pretty steep, long hill, though they do provide carts to make it easier. Additionally, the campsite itself is on a slight incline, which can make sleeping a bit uncomfortable. Overall, the campsite is good if you have minimal items, like if you’re backpacking and just need a place to crash. But if you have a group of people with a lot of gear, I’d recommend finding another place to stay.

Wow! Such a beautiful place! Views are stunning! Great location, close to Boone and Banner elk, also to Grandfather mountain. Easy to access a campsite. Mike is a great and friendly host ❤️ We had a beautiful time. Definitely recommend this place, for peaceful stay with amazing views and being close to towns and amazing Grandfather mountains

I needed a place to crash for the night at a decent price, and this was that. I came in late after a concert, and the sites were easy to find, even in the dark. There are motion lights down by the parking/porta potty area, which was nice. I did hear 8-10 gunshots (probably rifles) in the morning, between 8:00-8:45am. Not close enough to be threatening, but not far enough away to sleep through.

Perfect HIDDEN GEM RV site!

Loafers RV site is exactly as advertised and what I'd call a "hidden gem"! Very quiet and peaceful, beautiful morning and evening views of the mountains, large enough for a mid sized camper/rv, and literally within 15 minutes or so to Boone, half hour to Blowing Rock. Mike, the owner, came to greet me on the first day to make sure I was settled in and had everything I needed. Very nice guy! The site has everything you'd need-- electricity, a pump for spring water, a fire pit and a porta-potty. The only sounds I ever heard were from some dogs in the distance, and the family who owns the property who use the road in front of the site to drive to and from their home (slightly to the side, beyond a hill). None of those sounds were at all bothersome. Mike has done a lot of work repairing the gravel road leading to the site after damage from Helene.... no worries at all now! I had a buddy staying at an RV park nearby with fifty other RV'ers... no privacy at all, noisy, filled with kids riding their bikes, people walking their dogs... vastly different experience. There is nothing wrong with that if you like the more "social" experience of RV'ing. BUT I like the fact that Mike only has the ONE RV site-- it was JUST me... nobody else except for few folks that used his two primitive tent-camp sites that sit up above the RV pad on the hill beyond the barn, yet I never heard a peep out of either of them. I'd rate this experience 10/10. I would definitely come back. THANK you Mike!

Great campsite! Private, quiet, and offers a beautiful Mountain View. You will have to do a short hike up to the campsite 1 and 2 but it’s all worth it. They provide metal wagons to use. There’s a nice creek along side the campsites. 18 minutes to downtown Boone. We’ll be back.

Beautiful and peaceful! This was a wonderful spot to gather with friends to camp and enjoy the outdoors. The only caveat to this space is having to haul your gear up a steep hill. They provide wagons and the path is cleared, I just recommend packing on the lighter side! We will for sure be back.

Michael's property was beautiful! He was super responsive when we asked for water, the porta potty was very clean and well stocked, and the instructions were very clear. Great location, very close to Boone and Grandfather Mountain. Would stay here again!

The campsite was situated at the top of a hill between the woods and field beside a small creek. The site fit my 2 person tent just perfectly and the nightly show from the fire flies was a great way to spend the twilight hours. There is plenty of signage and parking, so no guess work to find where to go. At the parking, there were buggies to help tow your supplies to the campsite, but pack strategically, as the hill to the site will make you second guess a really large cooler. The site is located pretty close to Boone for easy food options. I would have no problem staying here again if I ever found myself on a solo or duo trip to the Boone area again and needed a place to camp.

Peaceful, beautiful sunsets!

We stayed five nights and had a very enjoyable experience. We would definitely recommend this site to others. The area was very quiet and peaceful. It took us approximately 30 minutes to get to Blowing Rock. Michael was available, but certainly not intrusive. Our only suggestion would be to have an extension on your awning for the west facing sun. It really was not a bother to us, since we were usually gone in the afternoon. You will be rewarded though with an absolutely gorgeous sunset over the mountains as the fireflies make an appearance. We were able to dump our tanks at the Boone KOA.

We loved our camping trip!! The site was quiet, clean, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. We ended up hammocking and there was a trio of trees that made the perfect spot. If we’re ever in the area again we’d definitely come again!!

We stayed at site 1 and everything was as advertised. The view is spectacular and we loved the sound of the creek at night. Site 2 is behind but there's enough privacy - no different than staying at a campground. The 500ft walk up the hill might not be everyone's cup of tea given how much you pack. We had no issue but I could see this being challenging for some with mobility issues or lots of stuff. We'll definitely be back and would recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Boone area.

Wonderful Campsite. Nobody else was camping so I had more privacy than i’d expect with the other site full. The shade kept my tent dry from the storm and the view was amazing!

I love the spot! Spacious camp ground, tough walk up to the site but by no means unreasonable. The view from the campsites are incredible. The only thing I would point to as a downside is that the farmhouse you are staying behind is very much in use. There will typically be people working in it and riding 4-wheelers/bikes in and out of it. Taking a trip out to Loafers Joy is definitely worth it and the people hosting are very polite and give you lots of privacy.

I love the fact that I am secluded...and not stacked side by side with neighbors being only a few feet away. The owners are super nice and friendly. The area is just beautiful. I strongly recommend Loafer's Joy for anyone to stay at ..familys, couples, singles...very nice camping area

Site 1 and 2 are very close, if both were booked you may have a privacy issue. However the view is great and the sites are reasonably priced, it would be very easy to book both and bring the whole family. The walk to the sites is uphill so be ready to get some exercise.
