Perfect little secluded spot for a weekend camping trip! Crystal was very informative about the area and also very responsive when we had questions! The drive up is a little rough, but totally possible without 4 wheel drive as my friend drove her BMW up, just be extremely careful! Hosts did offer to drive non 4 wheel drive vehicles up for us, which was much appreciated! Perfect location as well, as we were away from everyone but downtown Bryson City is just minutes from camp!

I was the only person camping the day I was there, so I was able to choose which site I'd like to stay at, which was really nice. Site 1 was the most convenient and was private, but also not the cleanest. Host said they'd forgot I was coming and hadn't had time to clean it up. Wasn't a big deal because they had other sites available. I set my tent up at site 2 because it was the biggest and closest to the car. This had the disadvantage of being closest to the host's house, though, and after a while I noticed that there was a pretty foul odor around the site. So I ended up moving up to hang around the fire ring at site 3. This site is really the best option here, and I would gladly camp there again. Very private and in the woods. The hammocks and trails are a nice benefit to that site. You also get a nice view of the mountains through the trees. But you do have to hike a little bit to get there. Not far or hard though, so not really a problem for anyone most likely. If you could guarantee site 3, I'd definitely recommend camping here, otherwise, I might consider staying elsewhere in the future.

While Crystal and her husband were absolutely fantastic and available, we had a few hiccups with our trip that I think it would only be fair to be honest with other campers.
This is a really tough campsite if you don’t have experience with steep driveways and it’s very difficult to walk. That said, do everything you can to arrive during daylight.
There are a lot of dogs. If you’re camping with your pups, it can be frustrating for dogs (and confusing!) because it’s their home, but also your dog’s new home.
We also did not have a Mountain View as advertised. It might have been a simple miscommunication, but it was a bit strange realizing we were camping in their practice range and had other campers drive into our site at midnight.
I think it would be really helpful to have a separate price for the lesser/no view campsite for those who simply need to camp on a budget. And perhaps put up small signs that give directions to designated campsites. These are all growing things to learn and, again, they were incredibly kind and communicative.
I wouldn’t discourage other campers from staying here. Clearly, many had great experiences! But, just wanted to share a few things I wish I knew before we went. Hopefully some of these notes are helpful to everyone so other campers can have a great experience.

Hosts were awesome, lots of camping and hiking to do in the area. Cute little campfire pit. Crystal and her family obviously love having guests and helping them explore the area.
Free puppy kisses and pets from the dogs, who are super friendly and quite adorable. If you can pack a fold out table, it would be helpful to keep them away from the food, but they aren't food aggressive (just curious and kind of sneaky).
There are definitely a few spots for Hammocks, which is how we camped, but you need to be a bit creative with the hammock (you'll be on a decline). We did a tiny bit of brush clearing to have good hammock spots in front of the house, maybe 10 minutes.
Campsites surround the house, the one with the best view is basically in the front yard, maybe 30 meter? from the house. the one up in the woods is a bit of a hike but more private.
100% loved staying here. will be back

Very nice place. I was there on a motorcycle, so it was perfect. You need to have some skills to get up the hill on a bike. Other than that is perfect, dragon tail is 45 min away. Owner has few friendly dogs. So, i will be back to that spot.

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING. Before arriving I had a few questions and the host responded back very quickly (less than half hour) . Arrived at the place or spot and it was peaceful, serene, beautiful, very breath taking. Our dogs stormy & diesel they had a blast running around sniffing new territory. We have a 5 yr old little boy that just seemed to adore camping. The nice thing is the host & their family lives on the land but they are out of sight unless its urgent. I had the pleasure of meeting the host and their beautiful family, their place gives you a piece of ease an makes you feel safe. Thank you and we look forward to coming again.
