This primitive Tent/RV site offers: 2-Private Acres + FREE Firewood + 8-foot Industrial Picnic Table + Little Tikes Picnic Table + Commercial-Grade Port-A-Potty + Large Garbage Bin + 5-Gallon Bucket + Adirondack/Sitting Chairs + Pet Friendly! Solo travelers, families, and romantic getaway travelers: This is a very private and safe place to camp! Because we only have 1 site, you will be alone in the space the entire time. My family lives on the premises so we are here in case of an emergency. My daughter and I own this 35 acre secluded piece of heaven just minutes from Winston-Salem, Hanging Rock State Park, and other attractions. We are pet friendly (if your pet does not play well with our dogs or horses, please leave them on a leash or at home). Our Shire horses are endangered and very BIG! We hope you have time to say hello to the horses during your visit. NOTE: we do NOT provide electric at the campsite; you are allowed to use a generator. NOTE: please remember to bring garbage bags for all of your trash. Because we only have 1 site, you will be alone in the space the entire time. My family lives on the premises so we are here in case of an emergency. We own 35 acres and your campsite (The Grassy Knoll) is right in the center. Your campsite is about 2 acres. You cannot see our home from the road. When you arrive, you will pull to the front of the house and I/we will greet you and give you your paperwork and information. You will drive past the house, down the hill, and park/camp in the Grassy Knoll. You are surrounded by trees on 3 sides and a creek on the 4th side.  There is plenty of room for outdoor games (soccer, corn hole, Frisbee, badminton, croquet, etc.). The creek runs next to you. The creek is not real deep so it is perfect for kids to play in. Some have strung their hammocks across the creek and napped/read listening to the sound of the water running over the rocks. Others have sat our Adirondack chairs in the creek and soaked their feet while reading their latest book or watching their kids play. There are minnows and crayfish too. The horses will be grazing across the creek from you. Our horses are Shires! The Shire horse is a draft horse and listed as the tallest horse breed in the world. They are considered endangered. Be sure to say hello to them! WATCH YOUR FEET! You visit them with your own insurance so ENJOY THE HORSES AT YOUR OWN RISK! NOTE: We are OPEN starting April 1st through October 31st. Kohler Farms-A Shire Horse...
The shire horses and creek to play in were a treat for the kids. Our group enjoyed the location and plan to return, hopefully when the assortment of Hostas are blooming. The Hipcamp description was accurate. Although it is near the highway and hosts residence where you can hear a truck every once an a while, the site is quite secluded. Nice flat open mowed grassy field for camping.

It was perfect! Private, great dogs and an amazing creek. Owner was the best, plenty of firewood, Will definitely be back.

Kohler Farms-A Shire Horse...
Great place to stay. The hosts are super friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. This is a great option if you want to visit Hanging Rock State Park but don’t want to stay at the campground there. This would be perfect for big families as well. There is plenty of open space to throw a football or a baseball. The creek is nice and isn’t very deep. I had good cell reception with Verizon. Stores are close if you need something as well. We had a great stay and will definitely return.

Kohler Farms-A Shire Horse...
Another great camping trip to Kohler Farms on the books! We had colder than expected weather, rain, and a little mud but that did not stop us from having a great time. Sitting by the creek listening to the water trickle while watching the gorgeous horses directly across from it was so soothing and relaxing. This is one of our favorite spots. We are looking forward to coming back again.

This spot is such a great find! Plenty of space to spread out and nice and private! Host was super welcoming and helpful. We loved how close it is to hanging rock state park.
