Welcome to our magical farm and forest retreat — a glamping getaway where nature and agriculture live side by side. Nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains between Asheville and Great Smoky Mountains National Park, our site offers the perfect balance of wild beauty and working-farm charm. We’re just 7 miles from the Max Patch trailhead — one of the most iconic and scenic bald hikes along the Appalachian Trail — and only 2 miles from Ferguson’s Supply, a beloved local general store and café for biscuits, burgers, or forgotten essentials. Wake up to birdsong and mountain air, but don’t be surprised if you also hear the baa of a sheep or catch a whiff of compost or fresh hay. This is a real farm, after all — complete with horses, mini cows, mini sheep, chickens, turkeys, peafowl, emus, livestock guardian dogs, and a cat. We grow, forage, and graze much of what we live on, and we love sharing that experience with guests who appreciate the rhythms of the land. Whether you're here to hike, relax, stargaze, or get your hands a little dirty, we invite you to slow down and enjoy the honest magic of this place.

Camp with Goats!

RV/tent site · Sleeps 10 · Vehicles under 25 ft
Set up your tent in the heart of farm country — where sandy soil, grassy ground, and the sounds of a nearby creek meet the curious gaze of friendly goats. These primitive campsites are a work in progress — part of our continued recovery from Hurricane Helene — but they offer a quiet, affordable, and truly unique place to rest your head. You’ll be close to nature, close to animals, and close to the honest rhythm of rural life. There are multiple sites to choose from: Be close to the road for easy access, tuck a small tent inside a crescent of foliage, or get more privacy between the goats and creek. Expect a mix of sounds: crickets, bleating goats, and the occasional car from the country road nearby. The area is in sight of neighboring houses and structures, but we think the goats more than make up for it. You'll have: – Flat, grassy/sandy ground for tents – A creek to wade or relax beside – Plenty of fresh air, stargazing, and fireflies - Access to friendly goats (and a cup of treats)

Walnut Retreat -Creekside Bell Tent

Booked 1 time
Bell tent · Sleeps 4 · 1 bedroom · 3 beds · 1 toilet
Nestled in a walnut grove beside a gentle creek, Walnut Retreat offers a peaceful glamping escape at the edge of a working farm. Just a short 90-yard walk down a wooded trail, the 16-ft canvas bell tent sits on a raised platform surrounded by young trees, birdsong, and the occasional horse sighting. Inside, you'll find: – A tall queen air mattress and cot – Extra cot and standard air mattress available – Rugs, simple furnishings, and a solar power bank Outside, enjoy: – Private firepit with grill grate – Hammock and reclining chair – Stargazing, fireflies, and forest views - Tent to set up near platform available on request - Propane heaters available upon request The composting outhouse is located near the parking area and may be shared with other guests. Want to get closer to farm life? Guests are welcome to book add-on experiences like animal feedings and s'mores kits. If you're looking for an authentic, peaceful escape with a little bit of wild charm — this is it. *Wi-fi is available at the parking area and communal picnic table, but you will likely be able to enjoy the disconnect at your camp site. WORKING FARM: Intrepid Acres is a working farm, which comes with interesting sounds and smells. Most guests revel in it! One thing that new visitors may not be familiar with is our working livestock guardian dogs. They stay with the sheep and poultry all night and will bark if they perceive a threat. It is not common for them to bark for long, and we will generally be awoken and go investigate. PETS: The pet fee is refundable less $10. I have set it like this so that guests understand that we are a working farm with free range chickens and a cat and working livestock guardian dogs. So this is NOT a situation that an average pet dog would excel in. I am a certified animal behavior consultant and trainer and can offer boarding in our home if you would like to bring your pet but give them some distance from the livestock or if you need a place to leave your pet while you do some sightseeing.
