We had such a blast here and can’t wait to come back! We rented both sites with friends, so we had the whole place to ourselves. It felt private and peaceful but still had all the glamping comforts—fire pits, hot water, shower, toilet, fridge, stove, food prep supplies, pots/pans/dishes/silverware, couches, wood stove, stereo, WiFi, arcade game, and more. We had enough Verizon service for texting and the WiFi worked great, even at Site 2. That site was cozy, wooded, and stayed cool in the shade most of the day. The sites are spaced far enough apart for decent privacy, but having the cabin and bathroom all to ourselves was definitely a bonus.
The road in is rough, and the 4x4/AWD warnings are no joke, but we made it in our 2WD Pleasure-Way camper van (thankfully with new tires!). We scraped a little at the creek crossing and if it had rained, it might have been a different story…. We got lucky!
Our friends loved hiking at Big Creek (15 min drive) and swimming at Midnight Hole 1.5 mi up the trail. We wish we could have stayed longer and hope to make it back soon. Next time we’ll bring a hand-washing station for the kitchen plus extra toilet paper and paper towels. Wonderful camp!

This is a very cool spot tucked away in the mountains. It feels very secluded, private, and peaceful despite being only about an hour from Asheville and an hour from Pigeon Forge. I was a little concerned about the drive there based on some of the other reviews, but had zero issues in my Subaru Outback. Elizabeth gave fantastic directions to find the place and was overall super responsive.
Facilities were great. The house is a real treat to have there and is well stocked with kitchen equipment and games. This would be a perfect base for a group camping trip in particular.

The campsite was great. Well maintained and very peaceful. A vehicle with decent ground clearance is needed to make it up the drive but our Jeep had no problem. The entrance had a gate with lock so we felt very secure.

We loved our time at Elizabeth’s place! The cabin on site was so convenient for cooking and warming up food. And the two bathrooms were an added plus for our family. It was so peaceful and the perfect place for our dogs to roam around without worry. Our family played corn hole with the game at the cabin, which was so much fun! The cabin and bathrooms were super clean with everything we needed. We would recommend for sure, but make sure you have a 4 wheel drive to get there, ESPECIALLY if you’re pulling a camper - this is a must for the creek crossing!
Wonderful hiking close by and our family had a great time sitting around the campfire and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Thanks for a relaxing stay!

We had a family camping trip here and booked both sites. It was amazingly private and our dogs loved the space. The main lodge was large and had anything you could think to need for your stay. Hot shower and good water pressure. Overall, one of the best Hipcamps we’ve ever stayed at. 12/10 recommend! You will need 4 wheel drive if pulling a camper and our only clearance issue was at the creek crossing; we used boards under the wheels to get across.

The best sleep I've ever had-- No city noises, dogs barking, etc. just nature. Damages to i40 and waterville Rd made traveling around a bit of a pain but there are so many other routes and trails that are stunning drives, especially with the fall scenery. Location is pretty much in the smokies, so there is much to see and do. Property felt secluded and private. No cars passing by. Amenities were as described.

We had a great time at this remote camp! Elizabeth was very responsive to our questions, which were many! It was super quiet, and the common house was perfect for when it was raining. We loved the ability to take a shower, and the bathrooms were super clean and well stocked. Our dogs loved it too! We are already planning our next visit in October!

It was a pleasure meeting the owners Matthew and Elizabeth, great couple. loved how secluded the property was, but centrally located to everything we wanted to do. Property well maintained and communal building and bathhouse were very clean and convenient for campsite users. Highly recommend

Such a cool location and well-outfitted, remote hip camp! Stayed at Site #2 but we were lucky enough to have the whole camp to ourselves. Sites 1 & 2 are maybe 75 yards apart so if you're looking for a private weekend, book em both! Agree with previous reviews that a 4WD vehicle is recommended (especially after rain) due to rutted single track and the creek crossing. All amenities are as described plus a basic perc coffee maker and a small microwave in the cabin. 3 bars of 5G with T-Mobile. Very clean facilities, hot showers, and great communication from the host. We'll definitely be back!

Had a great time! Very peaceful and appreciated the water and electrical hookup. The cabin was a HUGE plus when one of the tents had a big leak during a pop up storm one night.
Elizabeth was very helpful and responsive with my overabundance of questions.

Our group sadly had lots of rain, but luckily we were able to make do with the house/communal cabin on site, which really saved our trip. The site is remote, and it was very nice. The amenities were all good, and I was skeptical at first since I'd only seen good reviews, but I do genuinely recommend this spot to others. I would definitely make sure your vehicle has 4 wheel drive, but if, like us, you have one vehicle that can make the trip up to the site and one that can't, the national park has a lot available for 15$ a week parking, its very convenient. I would definitely go again and thanks to the host for being so responsive and welcoming.

Great location. Amenities were very clean and convenient. A cool adventure driving to the camp itself. Sites 1 and 2 are closer than expected yet still a peaceful spot. Very close drive to Parks and rivers for fishing. I would absolutely go back. Host Elizabeth was great with help pre trip as well. 👍🏻👍🏻

Fantastic campsite with all the amenities you need to have a great time while wheeling, hiking and exploring! The lodge was clean and well appointed. The wash house was great, We will definitely be back!

What an amazing time we had!
Elizabeth was super helpful! She even let us stay an extra night when the weather didn’t let us get the Yurt down in time!
The extra night was just what we needed to wake up to it snowing on the mountain the next morning.
This was the PERFECT spot for our family.
We have working dogs and kids so it’s a whole circus!
We were able to have the nice amenities of electricity, water and nice HOT showers. Without giving up the private out in the mountains setting we were looking for.
This place is the best of both worlds!
We likely won’t camp anywhere else when we come back to the Smokies!
We were able to hike down the mountain to let the dogs and kids play in the creek.
Some tubing at Maggie Valleys Tube world topped off the weekend.
We can’t wait to be back!

This spot was perfect! Our group included a first time camper who loved the combo of “roughin it” and amenities. The hosts thought of everything that we forgot to pack! Drive to the site was also a perfect introduction to “off-roading” for our friends. We would definitely love to make this a traditional spot for future camping!

Enjoyed my stay at Rustic Camp site 2. Peaceful and remote. The added benefit of on site bathrooms made it easier and a bit less rustic in that sense. Beautiful grassed area to relax. Elizabeth recommended hiking on the Big Creek Trail which is very convenient to the campsite and was much enjoyed.

This hidden gem is a must place to stay if you like a quiet and peaceful environment. It’s very easy to find and has all the amenities we needed. We even got greated by the host with crackers and cheese, which was the perfect snack to have!

Perfect Secluded Basecamp

This is the second time we've been to this spot. The first time we had 3 adults and 2 kids and brought our small (14 ft) camper and a tent. This time was just my husband and I plus our dog. We brought our 26 ft camper this time and had no issues. I will note though that the camper and truck are built for offroad so I don't know if a standard trailer of the same length would be able to make it. We absolutely love this spot and will definitely be back! It's remote and feels safe with the locked gate. We use this as a basecamp and go exploring and hiking around the area. It is so nice having the amenities of hookups, bathrooms, and a kitchen/ eating space. It has all the amenities without being in a crowded RV park. A hidden gem that is worth going to.
