DuPont Bike Retreat is located 1/4 mile from the Fawn Lake Access area into DuPont State Forest. The DBR is 37 acres and has a pond with a dock and numerous camping sites available. The property used to hold Glass Feather Studio, which was a glass art studio and is now Glass Feather Lodge. The mountain view from the indoor porch is amazing and there are several places to relax and enjoy this view. There is an outdoor shower and bike wash station behind the lodge and two indoor bathrooms (one with shower) off the porch. The lower Pond Area of the property has a port-a-john near the pond. Starter bundles of firewood are included, and additional can usually be purchased on-site. Come enjoy the forest straight from your campsite!

#6 Comin' In Hot! -TENTS ONLY

100%
(1)
Tent site · Sleeps 4
ALL POND SITES REQUIRE AW/4WD. THIS SITE IS FOR TENTS ONLY. There is NOT a level space for vehicles or trailers. Comin’ In HOT! sits down below the road level and is accessed by steps. It is for tent camping ONLY and has a little gravel drive to park your car. Trees are available around the site for Hammocks. The small creek that runs off from our pond is just down the hillside adding to the peaceful, relaxing vibe. Site is partial sun/shade. The surface is grass/mulch. Firepit on site. Leveled site area is ~ 12x11 ***Please note: we have done extensive landscaping around this site to reduce erosion, and it is still somewhat fragile. Please only access the site by the stairs and especially avoid stepping on the mossy areas along the hillside. This is not a good site for dogs or young children as we’re trying to establish the vegetation around the site.

HillTop #1

98%
(105)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 22 ft
This site is closest to the driveway. It has a graveled spot for vehicles (needs some leveling for camping), a firepit with wood-plank bench, a picnic table, and spot for one tent in the woods. Be aware that the Hilltop sites are right at the top of the paved driveway and close together. This makes them great for groups that know each other, but they are not super private for separate groups. Site has access to 15 amp electric hookup (bring an extension cord). Guests love that they are close to all the lodge facilities. 4WD is NOT necessary to access the Hilltop sites.

#8 In The Zone

96%
(55)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 22 ft
AWD/4WD required for all Pond sites as the access road has some steep sections of loose gravel. This site is tucked in right beside the pond with a wooden deck to chill and enjoy the evening on. It is shady most of the day making it the perfect spot for those hot summer months. The access drive is only about 7' across so it is mostly used for tents, but if your vehicle camper is able to fit without scraping the trees in the drive, you are welcome to pull it in. Site is ~13 deep and ~9' across at the widest point, and viewing deck is 10x12'. Picnic table and fire pit on site. Site floor is woodchips/mulch.

#1 Dropping In

100%
(32)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 22 ft
AWD/4WD required for all Pond sites as the access road has some steep sections of loose gravel. This is a large site and is big enough for vehicle and trailer campers (max 22') or multiple tents. It sits slightly above the pond on the main access road to the pond area (TaxiDog Lane) and is centrally located. It is set back in the trees so the canopy keeps it cooler in the summer, but gets sun in the cooler months once the leaves drop. Picnic table and fire pit on site. Site is ~26x17. Site floor: Forest floor, dirt, sparse grass, ferns.

#7 Bike Escape

100%
(9)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 22 ft
AWD/4WD required for all Pond sites as the access road has some steep sections of loose gravel. Just past the woodshed and port-a-john at the bottom of TaxiDog Lane, this site is nestled in among the rhododendrons and laurels, close to the creek for a peaceful camp experience. This site is great for multiple small tents as there are a number of fairly level spots among the rhododendrons. The leveled nook below the drive is only big enough for a 2-3 person tent, but there is also a larger, mulched space (less level) beside the drive that can be used for larger tents. There is a fire pit and a picnic table at Bike Escape. This is a shaded site.

100%
(6)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 6 · Vehicles under 22 ft
AWD/4WD required for all Pond sites as the access road has some steep sections of loose gravel. #10 Missing Link is one of our larger sites. It is located just past #9 and sits level with the road so easy pull in and out, making it great for larger vehicle campers and trailers, as well as multiple tents. Site is mostly sunny with some shady spots throughout the day. Come camp at DuPont Bike Retreat and ride your bike into the park with great access to some of the best trails around. Get away from noise and crowded campgrounds with our private, forested mountain sites where you can truly enjoy nature. With DuPont State Forest right across the road, you can hike and bike to Bridal Veil Falls or easily visit any of the other great falls in the area.  These camp spaces are on the lower property near a small pond. 4-Wheel Drive is required to access these sites.  Please read site descriptions before booking as they vary in size and some are TENT ONLY sites.  Pond Amenities- Firepit- Starter bundle of wood included, Port-a-John, and some sites have a picnic table (see site descriptions). Trail is now open for direct access from the pond up to Reasonover Road (about 200 yrds from Fawn Lake parking lot)  Additional Amenities-  On the hilltop, there is an outdoor shower (seasonal), a bike wash station, TWO indoor bathrooms (one has a shower) and access to a large porch for gathering. Post-ride you can enjoy the beauty of the forest from the hot tub located behind the lodge. It is about a 1/4 mile UP steep terrain to these facilities. Camper vans/trucks are allowed with a maximum length of 22 ft. in certain sites, but be aware there are no hookups in these spots, and 4-wheel drive is required for the gravel access road.
