Peaceful Setting
19 ft campervan · With pets · I'm an avid Hipcamper and spent three lovely nights at Deep River Campground. Most of my Hipcamp stays have been in the west, in California, Oregon and Washington states. This Hipcamp seemed a bit unusual in that it's more like a traditional campground with hookups, a game room, and a laundromat. I sense they have people who live on the property in their RVs full-time. One of the things that I enjoy about Hipcamps is how different they usually are from campgrounds, with relatively few campers. Boondocking is more the norm. The Hipcamps I've experienced are on people's private, large swaths of farmland and ranches whose owners are welcoming and have eclectic setups. The setting of Deep River is lovely, though, with a pond (catch and release), two swimming pools (one was closed), and the Deep River close by, within walking distance. There were plenty of entertaining ducks around the campground and dogs are allowed off leash. My dog had a ball romping in the field. With a few changes/upgrades, Deep River Campground could be a favorite place to hang out with friends or simply enjoy the peace. The proprietor of the campground was not on site, but she was totally responsive and available to answer any questions. I will definitely consider returning in the future.
