Mark's place is stunning -- a large camp area surrounded by beautiful trees and a babbling brook. It is great to have a bed, stove, refrigerator, and shower in the camper, then step outside and enjoy the firepit or the hammock. If you're chemically sensitive though, you probably already know that campers have a lot of synthetic materials, so better to stay in the tent, which is tall and large and has a nice cot and air mattress.
I assumed there would be hiking, but not much of the land is cleared of dense underbrush, so plan to hike in any number of nearby parks. Chimney Rock and Hickory Nut Falls are magnificent. We also enjoyed trying the hibiscus mead at Fae Nectar.
As far as the Deluxe Camper, which has two very comfortable recliners, there is another camper within 50 feet on either side plus there's the clubhouse. There was no one in one of the campers so we had the place to ourselves, which was so great, although you can hear the AC compressor from the clubhouse. A lot of people don't even hear things like that, but I'm very sensitive to my environment. Mark and his wife were super nice and accommodating.

The secluded site really feels secluded. Actually there are others pretty close to you. Overall it seems like a work in progress but it’s getting there. Trail in isn’t very compatible with a van, jeep or small Subaru probably better. Overall it’s a cool getaway. Oh yeah the dog always wants a ride.

The host was very welcoming to our stay. My daughter and I had a great time. I would definitely recommend this spot. My only recommendation is taking a four-wheel-drive car. I came in with my van. It all worked well though.

Great camping location. Nicely secluded from the other campsites and any neighboring properties / roads. The creek was a short walk away, which my kid really enjoyed. _Plenty_ of firewood to scavenge from the land. The camping pad area was just barely big enough for my super-large 9person tent (oversized for the family), your normal size tent will definitely fit. The rest of the camping area was a good size too, and well laid out. The owners/ hosts were very nice. You can tell they are putting in the effort on this property. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but they aren't done putting on the final touches yet. Definitely a 5 star stay. Pretty much the only thing that you should be aware of is that the "bathroom/shower" is in a singlewide mobile-home (clubhouse) and you have to walk through a living room/kitchen/hallway to get to the bathroom. I don't think the owners actually live in the "clubhouse" since they have a camper trailer just outside of the clubhouse. They had a sign on the clubhouse door that says it's "open 24/7, no need to knock". So even though I felt like I might be bothering someone by going in to go to the bathroom at 7am on a Saturday - I actually don't think I was bothering anyone.

Excellent, friendly hosts who went out of their way to make sure we were setup and had a good space. Their dog was super sweet and got along great with our doggos. They have a clubhouse where you can use the restroom, refill water, and wash dishes. It is clear they are putting in a lot of effort to make a great spot for campers. We will definitely go there again next time we camp in Black Mountain.

I loved camping on the sky deck, beautiful weather and foliage! Mark and Susan were great hosts, very accommodating and made me feel very at welcome. Directions to the property and parking were spot on. Wish I could have stayed longer!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the creekside campsite! This was our first time camping together and we are very pleased with the ease of our experience. The hosts, Mark and Sue were very friendly and hospitable! The campsite was very easy to find and easy to access. The sounds of the babbling creek put me to sleep each night. And the small hike suggestion on our check out day was DEFINITELY worth it.

A wonderful couple hosted us this past 4th of July Weekend. Susan & Mark were extremely kind and cordial. They treated us like those friends you have that you don't see frequently, but feel right at home with when you see them again. Those same feelings of comfort & closeness were felt in their camper too. Cozy, clean and climate controlled :) plus we cooked four meals in there and they were top notch even compared to what we can make at home. We had a wonderful experience this hectic weekend visiting DuPont (50 minutes) and Chimney rock (20 minutes) and it would not have been as manageable or delightful without these two and their lodging. ALSO they were extremely helpful during our stay but that by no means they were badgering or invasive. I mention this because some may want to come for some alone-time and serious peace & quiet. Mark & Susan wouldn't do ya like that!

Our visit to Black Mountain Creekside, was a pleasant sojourn by the stream. Our friendly hosts, Mark and Susan, and their canine compatriot, Nikki, warmly welcomed my husband and I upon our arrival. Right from the start, they ensured we were comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
During our short stay at Black Mountain Creekside, we set up our tent by the edge of the stream. The camping plot was well-maintained with a fire ring, picnic table, and access to an indoor shower and toilet.
There are multiple options for pitching a hammock and a tent on this property. The sky deck, just above the creekside sites, is also offered to campers and may be reserved with, or without, a large tent that opens to a panoramic view of sky and forest.
Our favorite part of the our stay, aside from getting to know our kind hosts, was hanging out by a gorgeous waterfall on an adjacent property. The reward for leisurely five minute walk is a uniformed cascade of spectacular beauty. Don’t miss it!

Host Mark was friendly/helpful BUT the listing is misleading. The campsite is on a piece of wooded property near the gravel main road, recently cleared 3 spots (one w/a nice deck/tent on it), the other two sites cleared/muddy by a stream with a woodchipper still sitting there, no gravel/dry area to set up w/out mud getting everywhere. No picnic tables or place to build a campfire; The community firepit/picnic area is located on a campsite that was being used as their campsite and did not have the appearance of being "community", creek water wasn't clear "to use via spigot" as advertised and the bathroom/shower was on the backside of an old singlewide trailer that was part of the residence, you had to walk through their interior storage/laundry room to access and it felt creepy. Advertised hiking on the 5 acres/nearby but I saw no trails/only private residences on the gravel road. Cell service available standing near Marks RV window, which he happily offered up. Ample roosters sounding off 4am-7am each morning/neighborhood dogs barking through the evenings. The condition of the "site" Mark had intended for us to use was unacceptable for a tent so he offered the use of the upper decked site BUT it is not easily car accessible as stated. I have a Land Rover and it slide a bit due to the rain conditions a few nights prior, you have to backdown the narrow tractor road that has no gravel on it to get in/out so night two we parked at the bottom and packed our gear out.

This was an awesome weekend! Great location and great place to camp. There is a common fire pit with two sites right on the creek. Mark and Susan are great people and welcoming to my puppy and I. Definitely on my list to visit again.

Mark and his wife were amazing hosts! Very responsive and available. The campsite was beautiful right next to a small creek that our frenchie loved. Very quiet too, and the perfect fire pit. Only downside was it was pretty wet - so depending on weather outlook bring your own dry firewood and starters. The road was visible from the campsite so if your dogs like chasing after cars that might not be the best option (although it is across from the creek so they’d have to navigate that and the upslope). But traffic was rare. Two other dogs visit and they’re just the sweetest! We regret not having the chance to visit the waterfall next door but the whole area is beautiful! It was a great starting point for a few days of adventure around the area.

Mark was extremely accommodating to our needs during our stay. Absolutely lovely people. Adorable site but was not quite what we wanted for our trip, so he helped us find a spot on nearby property that was exactly what we were looking for! Creek is right next to site and has lovely shade coverage.

Awesome little creek side spot. Mark and Sue were absolutely wonderful. There were no other visitors at the tent site during our stay, so privacy was nice. The tent site shared a community fire pit, we had one night alone with it and one with hosts + a couple of their friends. It was nice to chat and get to know Mark and Sue. Wonderful people. They are working on getting more sites which equals free fire wood while they clear more land, always a bonus.
Definitely ask to see the waterfall on the property next store, phenomenal little gem. If you’re into running or long walks you can hike / run on this property or head up the mountain and run/hike the steep road that has a couple prime Mountain View’s.
Neighborhood dogs keep the bears away, but they can get talkative. First night not an issue at all but night two one was riled up, needed sound machine to drown it out (but that also faded the natural hum of the bugs and creek). This was not in the hosts control but that was only tiny bump of entire trip.
Local region has great trails, the town of black mountain is super cool and loaded with breweries, great food, and authenticity. We will be back for sure!!
