Our guests love staying here: "Loved it. A thoroughly beautiful building in an equally beautiful location. It had everything we needed and more. We'd planned to use the cabin as a base to go hiking from but it was so beautiful there that we ended up not leaving for the entire time - we just stayed and watched the hummingbirds on the balcony. Will look forward to returning."Located on the west side of the Roan Highlands, relax at this contemplative space and celebration ground for individuals and small groups seeking retreat, recreation, and a place to celebrate special occasions.

About the listing:
This is a Leave No Trace camp where you you don't need a tent to enjoy the beautiful views and wildlife that abound. The Shack can accomodate up to 4 adults with its sleeping loft and carpeted floor. There is a covered outdoor area as well. This is a great place if you don't want to pack your tent or are concerned about rain. In addition to a wide door, there are two giant windows to let in the fresh air. There are also 6 chairs and a table in the Shack as well as a bench for setting up your campstove or other gear. Bring your sleeping bag and pad and a nonflamable lantern for inside. The shack does not have electricity and this place is so shady we can't get the solar lights to work nearby.
A shared composting toilet is available near the site but on the other side of a small creek so bring shoes that you can get wet. We have an open air outdoor shower. The cold water is cool but not too cold in warm weather, but the temperature of the hot water fluctuates. We can't guarantee a hot shower, but can at least offer a refreshing rinse after a long hike. The farm is at 3,500 feet so weather and season can make the water much cooler. In the winter the water to the showers is turned off.
We also offer potable water that is available except during freezing weather. You will have to walk to the bathhouse or up to the wellhouse to fetch it though. If you are camping here in the middle of the winter and temperatures might drop below freezing, please plan to bring your own water.
Campfires are allowed in the fire pit only. Please always check state and local fire regulations before having a campfire and know how to properly extinguish your fire. And no open flames in the Shack please.
Pets are allowed on leash, but please note that the neighbors have cattle and other wildlife abounds.
Additional details to note:
Hosts do not live onsite, so please expect to get situated on your own upon arrival. You will be able to park very close to your site, but off to the side so that other vehicles can ge by. Please do not drive off of the designated driveways. We don’t have WiFi available and cell phone reception can be limited onsite, so be sure to plan in advance. Waste disposal is not available at this listing. Please pack out anything you bring in with you. There is a convenience station in Buladean that is open 6 days a week (not on Sunday). Kitchen and cooking supplies are not provided. Please bring your own cooking equipment. Please no amplified sound. Although you will feel secluded, we do have neighbors and other campers onsite, and sound carries quite a ways.
