Our stay was great. Everything was in great shape when we got there. It was exactly what we were wanting. Bet part was there is no cell service lol.

Beautiful campsite with field and mountain views, great to have "cover" of the shack's covered area for our tent when it rained and others inside the shack slept in sleeping bags and mats and loved it there too. Very good basic glamping with composting toilet, food prep area, firepit etc. Joyce's info was really really helpful in all ways including instructions for getting to the farm and for things to know about the campsite and for good stuff to do in the area, from
hikes to food.

Under the stars at CreagCreek Farm
The campsite itself is beautiful, but the experience was overshadowed by poor management and disrespectful behavior from the hosts.
Despite the listing stating that hosts would not be present, they were on-site throughout the weekend performing yard maintenance. This disrupted the tranquil atmosphere and made it difficult to use amenities like the outdoor shower. We even had to give notice that we needed to use it.
We pre-paid for 3 bundles of wood only to show up and find no wood available at the site. We ended up gathering wood for the first 2 days and on the evening of the second day they finally delivered the wood we paid for.
The most concerning issue involved our vehicle. We parked in a designated area as instructed. After returning from a nearby hike with friends, we discovered the host had coordinated with other campers to attempt towing our truck without any notice or legitimate reason. They even tried to access the vehicle by checking if it was unlocked. Thankfully we arrived just in time to stop them, as a tractor was being backed in to tow it, which could have caused serious damage to the transmission. Once they saw us arriving, they quickly removed the tow strap.
Sure it’s a beautiful property, but when it comes to disrespectful hosts there are plenty of other properties to camp on. I would absolutely not recommend this site to anyone.

We loved Joyce's adorable little shack! She went above and beyond with the solar lights and cute little table set. The shack is open to air (not insulated) but was great for keeping us out of the elements. We popped a couple tents inside of the shack to stay comfortable and warm. I will definitely stay here again.

The Shack at Creag Creek Farm
We loved our time at the shack on Joyce's farm. Joyce was very responsive and her property is just beautiful. The shack is a great dry shelter and provided the r & r we needed. While there, it rained harder than I've ever seen it rain. The shack stayed dry and the covered area outside was nice during the rain. Can't wit to come back for a longer stay.

My husband and I camped here for the first part of our North Carolina adventure and despite less-than-favorable weather, we had such a fun time! The bathhouse was very clean and the compost toilet is super simple to use. Would recommend to anyone who loves being disconnected from the world for a bit, as it definitely is tucked in the mountains and away from the outside world!

Camping at Creag Creak was great! We parked nearby and didn’t have a long hike to the campsite. We set up and had a beautiful view of the fall colors and the stars at night. Would definitely recommend for a couple nights!

This cabin was PERFECT. Well kept and cozy, tons of privacy and certainly had that “off grid” feel, which is exactly what we needed. My toddlers enjoyed hiking the property and building fires in the wooden stove with daddy. Lots of good memories were made during our stay, the view from the porch was something I’ll never forget either! We will certainly be back!

Red Tailed Hawk, Mountain Streams, Sunsets, Roan Mtn Hiking, Abundant Stars, Outdoor Showers, Solitude. All of these made for a wonderful camping trip. Though the meadowview camping area grass was very high we chose to stay put and use our tarps to give us some barrier. We were the only ones at the farm so I’m sure we could have easily messaged to move to one of the other sites such as the shack or the two beautiful tent pads down lower and would probably choose either of those next time. We will definitely stay here again when visiting the Roan Mtn region as the serenity of this Hipcamp vs an overflowing state run group campground cannot be beat.

Excellent location. Hiked some of AT, Roan Mt. And tubing with NCOA. Peaceful and so happy we booked bc wow the rain was off the chart our last night. Outdoor shower was supreme!!

The Shack at Creag Creek Farm
I loved the stay at this hipcamp, the mountain view was excellent, and the sunset/sunrise was stunning. And most important, the property is less than 30 minutes drive from most of the major hiking trails.

My friend and I rented the Shack for the night to hike Roan Mountain the next day. The Shack was very clean with lots of space for our gear and for my tent. My friend pitched her tent outside. The campsite had compost toilet and a shower which was clean. The farm was beautiful and very peaceful.
We walked around the neighborhood and met Dixie, the local dog. She was very friendly. During our walk, we met Scott who also owned a farm and an animal sanctuary close by. He was very welcoming and even showed us his farm as well as giving us a tip to get to Roan Mountain by taking the back roads instead of the major roads which was very helpful.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience being in peaceful sorroundings!
I definitely recommend staying at Joyce's land!

The Shack at Creag Creek Farm
The Shack turned out to be perfect for our two family camping rendezvous. With the cooking lean-to and the snug room for visiting and eating, the temperamental spring weather did not bother us. The composting toilet met our needs very well and the wood provided allowed for a cozy fire. It was such a quiet place to relax and catch up with family. It also was a good base for exploring the area. Our early spring weather meant we needed to bring our own water but that was not difficult. It was a great space for us!!

The Cabin at Creag Creak Farm
The cabin on this farm was great. It was very clean and well appointed- perfect for our family of five. We all enjoyed the quiet to relax, explored the farm, and the kids loved playing on the rocks by the cabin. Joyce was very responsive to questions. I recommend it as a great getaway.

We camped at the shack with our 5 and 8 year old boys and had such a great time! The property is beautiful and peaceful, you can see so many stars here at night. We opted to pitch our tent near the shack (which Joyce graciously ok’d) and there was quite a bit of rain forecasted that weekend so the porch area for cooking and hanging out in, as well as the interior of the shack for playing games was key, for us! There’s no campground map included in the listing so just so you know, sharing the 17 acres with the shack is a cabin (maybe 1/4 mile away) and two tent sites (1/8 mile up the hill) in the shape of a triangle (with the shack being one point, the cabin another and the tent sites and shared bathroom the third point). The cabin is uphill from the shack and due to the shape of the land we could hear the folks staying there quite clearly at times hanging out on the deck, even if we couldn’t see them for the beautiful old apple tree between us. The walk to the shared bathhouse is short, the composting toilet was simple and clean, and the open-air shower (which was not at all warm, I have to say) was fun and refreshing for our family! We spent our days hiking at Roan Mountain and visiting nearby Elk River Falls, the whole area is just beautiful, and Joyce provided a document with recommendations on arrival day (a cold draft beer at The Station after a day of hiking was icing on the cake, thanks for that suggestion!). We really enjoyed our time, and will definitely be back!!

We loved camping here, it was beautiful and we got the best camping experience. I would have liked if the campsites were maintained a little more as well with the bath house. There was a wasp nest right over the toilet and the grass was a little tall. Other than that we loved and enjoyed this campsite

We enjoyed our time on Joyce's land in mid-July 2022! The meadow views were gorgeous and we enjoyed the apple trees, wild blackberries, and walking through the butterfly field up the hill on the property. The location was peaceful and quiet, near Roan Mountain. The outside showers and bath house was nice and clean. Joyce was also very friendly and her directions were clear. A wonderful spot for our weekend getaway!

The Cabin at Creag Creak Farm
We had a fabulous time at the cabin over a long weekend stay. Even though it was super hot outside, the cabin stays pretty cool since it's situated on the side of the mountain and surrounded by trees most of the day. At night, we had a beautiful view of the stars and used the telescope to check them out. Our boys enjoyed exploring around the area and loved the scenery. The porch is a great place to hang out, read, and enjoy the breeze, even in the rain! The kitchen has all the stuff you need, the hot water was wonderful, the library has an excellent selection, and there were some fun movies and games. What a great little gem tucked into the mountainside. Don't forget to grab some farm fresh eggs down the road, too!

Supremely restorative, serene, and pastorally beautiful describes our stay at Creag Creek Farm.
During our stay at Creag Creek Farm, my husband and I lodged in the cabin on the property. It was meticulously cleaned, well-furnished, and stocked with everything we could possibly want for a tranquil mini-vacation. Our host, Joyce, did an amazing job at making this cabin feel like a true home away from home; she even stocked the fridge with some unexpected treats and baking essentials. We felt so well taken care of. Thank you for your thoughtfulness, Joyce!
The spacious deck adjoined to the cabin was perfect for relaxing and outdoor dining. From that elevated vantage point, we could spot turkey ambling in the adjacent pasture; and, several hummingbirds whizzed by intermittently to partake in the bounty of deck-perched bird- feeders.
As the sun began to set, my husband and were treated to a bouquet of vibrant colors playing on the expansive view of pastureland and the sweeping, mountain vista. It was a perfect way to end the day.
If you are searching for a quiet refuge that is both therapeutic and inspiring, we highly recommend staying at Creag Creek Farm. It easily ranks as one of our best-loved Hipcamps.

The cabin was very nice! The kitchen was fully functional, the living room included a variety of movies and books, and the hot water heater worked very effectively! The fire pit is about a 2 minute hike further up beyond the cabin and has a nice atmosphere with a bench. The porch was also wonderful with some bird feeders; we even saw a hummingbird in the morning! Definitely recommend this stay for a refreshing, remote experience! Thank you!

Nice site. Rocks on tent pads are large and sharp so recommend bringing something the lay on tent floor. We stayed for a week. Enjoyed the outdoor shower. Owner not real responsive to questions about the area. Could definitely use some information on where trash locations are. But overall a great base camp location for surrounding sites. Extremely glad I read the reviews and brought a cart to haul out stuff to the site! It's a little hump with all the gear.

The cabin at Creag Creak was just as I expected and more. More quiet, more secluded, more private, more peaceful, more of the desire to not want to leave. My husband and I went to get away and that we did. We never saw another soul, which was exactly what we needed. We completely unplugged and enjoyed the serenity. On the outside the Cabin gives you the authentic look and feel of many houses we remember that no longer exist and unfortunately have been lost over time. On the inside, you found a cabin feel, but modern comfort. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was all you needed and nicely stocked in case you forgot anything. The living room and dining room case you two options for heat, depending on your desire. A wood stove or a heating unit. Last, but not least, the kitchen was well stocked with everything from cast iron pans to pots, spices, and a refrigerator that made you feel at home to anything in it. We made a country breakfast and a steak dinner along with the help of the gas grill outside. The view from the front porch was amazing. We hit peak weekend for the foliage and could not have been more pleased just
To sit and take it all end. After watching the mountains turn into fire as the sunset, we made our way inside and watched movies from the selection.. The fire pit is just a 2 minute walk up the path and has an incredible view as well. We will be back.
