Celesterra is a 230 sq. ft. sacred space that floats between earth and sky about 15 feet off of the ground. Built by the television show Treehouse Masters, it is a beautiful, serene space that is cozy, warm and inviting. PLEASE NOTE: All food and cooking are strictly vegetarian with no garlic or onions (so the next guests might be able to appreciate the space as well). No meat on the land at all, please. Celesterra features a beautiful living area with wood stove and leather club chairs, a dining table, fully stocked kitchenette and a bathroom with a composting toilet. It has no running water, but glorious spring water is supplied for drinking, washing dishes and cleaning hands. A beautiful shower (sometimes shared - we can let you know)  is available in the main house, (about a three minute walk - try a walking meditation back and forth each day!). You can restock up on water there, or walk about 1 minute from the treehouse to where the spring overflows into the creek and fill up there. It also features a large front deck with fabulous views of the mountains. The bedroom is located in a loft above the kitchen area. It features a queen size memory foam mattress (like a cloud), with all natural bedding. It is accessed by a 9-foot ladder. If you have physical limitations, using the ladder might prove difficult for you, please let us know. See photos included here or we can send photos.  Only serious intentions to do deep personal work will be considered. If you would like to apply, please answer the following question:  Please write a thorough explanation to the question: What is my inner most heart yearning for during my retreat in Celesterra and why?  Celesterra is a part of Butterfly Farm Sanctuary is a small, 22-acre spiritual sanctuary for all life that either lives or journeys here.  It sits at 3,000 feet in the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina. It has 1,100 feet of riverfront and about the same amount of a rushing stream that is so clean you can drink from it. All water is spring water that comes right from the mountain. The locals named this property Butterfly many years ago. While both pastures fill with butterflies in the summer, our work is in the area of the transformation of human life in order to make a better world and as such, we thought it was a wonderful name to keep.  Across the bridge from the property used to be a small village of shops we are told for at one time this valley was a thriving area due to lumber harvesting of the trees, the beautiful ancient trees which now no longer stand. But this is the history of the land here. One other thing. To survive in these mountains you had to hunt. A hunting culture is strong here and you will here gunfire echoing from time to time. We do not allow any hunting or firearms on the property. Learn more about this land: Celesterra is a spiritual retreat treehouse for people feeling the need to go deep within. Also, we are happy to discuss financial costs for retreats longer than a week. We will try and work with you in any way to help make this a transformational experience.  You will have complete access to the entire treehouse plus three acres of forest and pasture that feels like a park.  There are more than 15 more acres of woodland and lowland along the river. There is about 700 feet of riverfront you can walk along, a rushing stream that is so clean you can drink from it, and the option to pet two horses in our neighbor's pasture. There is a parking space very near Celesterra that is accessed up a mountainous gravel road (we can also drive you up). While you will feel you are all on your own, a brief three minute walk will bring you to our main house.  There is also access to a Native American medicine wheel ( we can teach you how to access it).

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
I absolutely loved my stay at EarthSeed! Thank you so much, Charlie and Stella (and their dog, Winston!) for a relaxing and rejuvenating stay. They were the perfect hosts and were accommodating is every way! EarthSeed was incredibly comfortable and cozy, especially during the evening rainstorm! The outdoor kitchen that they have set up was perfect, and I loved using their grill. I loved exploring their property and seeing all of the different kinds of butterflies in their fields. There is something for everyone at this farm: it's perfect for a quiet retreat, but close enough to the Lake and many trails if you'd like to be more active. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
My sister and I stayed at EarthSeed for two nights, and my only regret is that we couldn't stay longer. The property is absolutely gorgeous! A lot of work has gone into this already beautiful place to make it into a wildlife wonderland. The tent and outdoor kitchen contain anything you may need for a cozy, relaxing trip. You'll never want to leave. Stella and Charlie are amazing hosts! We had never done anything like this, so my sister and I were a little nervous going in. Don't be nervous! Stella and Charlie are the most welcoming hosts I've ever met. Charlie even took time to come out to bond with us and tell us about some waterfalls we could see around the area. He provided maps and directions. They went the extra mile for anything we needed. Stay at EarthSeed! You won't regret it!

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
Our stay is difficult to put into words. The care Charles and Stella put into ensuring their guests feel comfortable and tended to cannot be compared. From welcome to farewell we quickly felt as though we were temporarily extended family. Charlie's knowledge of the trails and falls helped my daughter and I plan for two full days of adventures. The facilities were very comfortable and well maintained and I will return the first chance I get!

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
Charlie and Stella are the best host my girlfriend and I have experienced. We stayed two nights at the Earthseed and it was wonderful, it exceeded all our expectations and more! Butterfly Farm is glorious! This hidden paradise in the Smoky Mountains has a great force that makes you wonder, think, and meditate introspectively. This sanctuary is beautiful and maintained so very well that it strengthens your appreciation and respect for nature. We often get stuck in our daily work routine from modern society and forget how to fully enjoy life. This trip was the best way to de-stress, reset, and re-align. At the end of the trip we felt revitalized and transformed. We had such a great time! I would recommend this experience to everyone! Definitely we will visit back! Thank you Charlie and Stella for the trip! You guys are great human beings and have inspired us. Hope to be back soon!

Charlie and Stella were impeccable hosts and they provided everything we needed for our stay at EarthSeed. It was the perfectly located near The Great Smoky Mtns and Asheville/Blue Ridge Parkway. Charlie can provide maps and recommended itineraries if you need assistance deciding what to do. It was a wonderful place to relax and be one with nature.

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
My fiance and I stayed here twice now and both times have been truly wonderful experiences. The earthseed tent is amazing and very comfortable with heaters and high-end inflatable mattress and bedding. We loved the outdoor hang out area, where we could prepare meals and hang out by a fire, even if it was raining out. There is a beautiful shower inside their house to use also, so its all the best of camping without the difficulties! However all of that is secondary to Charile and Stella who run this site, they are so sweet and helpful and made sure our stay was amazing. They are natural healers and intuitive caring people. We got a lot more than we thought we would by just our connection with them!

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
We absolutely loved our time at Butterfly Farm with Charlie and Stella and will definitely be making a point to make a longer trip in the future. The property and land are stunning, and the drive in along the river and lake are gorgeous. We stayed for two nights, the first we had about 45 mph wind gusts and the tent didn’t so much as budge. Saturday it rained continuosly for 14 hours and we didn’t see a peep of water inside except for our shoes. We had a wonderful time cooking outdoors and huddling around the fire at night under the Pavillion (raining the entire time we were comfotable, the lowest temp reached the 20s). I wish the weather were better only so that we could explore the property a little better. Saturday we went in to town to visit some of the breweries since it was raining so heavily, and Sunday we were pleasantly suprise to wake up to snow flurries! I definitely recommend going South to meet up with the Blue Ridge Parkway and follow it into Asheville. It snowed the whole way and we couldn’t see many of the peaks for the fog, but the beauty was unbelievable. Book it while you can if you love the outdoors and reconnecting with nature! We couldn’t have picked a more perfect weekend for peak foliage with the added bonus of the first suprise snow flurries of the year.

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
Where to begin? Charlie and Stella are some of the most thoughtful and gracious hosts you'll ever meet. Their mountain refuge is the perfect place for rest, reflection, pondering, and transformation. There wasn't a single thing they didn't think of to make our stay more comfortable or pleasant. The EarthSeed is everything you'd expect it to be: unique, serene, and pretty much divine. :) If you're in need of some quiet solace or self reflection, or simply a walk in the woods, you will find the Butterfly Sanctuary is the perfect refuge.

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
Our family of 4 (mom, dad, 5y old and 7y old boys) stayed at EartSeed for 4 nights. We absolutely loved it! Where to start .... hosts. Charlie and Stella are wonderful warm people. Very informative and helpful just like family! They made us feel like home. Charlie supplied us with maps and tips on where to go, what to see and how to enjoy the surrounding woods. They made sure the guests are comfortable and happy. The tent was brilliant! We felt like sleeping in the upscale boutique room in the middle of the wood. The kitchen shelter .... beyond the words! Fireplace by where we spent most of the time was incredible! Our kids learned how to chop the wood and make fire. We did some campfire baked goods like: apples and veggie hot dogs. The grill, toaster, coffee press, and fridge with half/half and fresh grounded coffee made our mornings! The time we spent here was precious and priceless. Watching our kids run free (often with the host's 2 fantastic dogs) in a beautiful safe and healthy surrounding like this is beyond the words. We enjoyed all the little things that Charlie and Stella and Smoky Mountains offered to us ❤

EarthSeed: Smoky Mt. Sanctuary
We loved our stay at Butterfly Farm! The place is incredibly peaceful, and the hosts have put so much care and effort into the property. Exploring the land and hanging by the river was awesome, but the EarthSeed and picnic shelter were the absolute highlights. The tent was such a cool space, and having the entire picnic shelter to cook, make a fire, and relax was perfect. They provide firewood and all the kitchen essentials you need to cook a meal too. Also, we spent a pretty chilly night there (low of 24) in late November, but the extra blankets and furnace in the EarthSeed kept us toasty. Cheers to Charlie and Stella for sharing such a special place with us, we hope to come back!
