Back Yard Campground

Seemed like a great site. The creek and nearby livestock make noise during the night so if that bothers you maybe bring ear plugs but I liked it. The directions were clear and the parking was easy. The sites had plenty of space and included the listed amenities. #3 was plenty flat and smooth. The port a jon was usable, gracious stock of hand sanitizer and toilet paper. We didn’t use the shower but took a peek and it looked like plenty.

Love the sound of the creek!!

Great site. Love that there is a hot shower. Perfect base camp for DuPont forest. Still convenient to Brevard and Pisgah. Had plenty of room for any size tent. It was great to go to sleep listening to the sound of the creek. I’ll be back!

Above and Beyond!

What a great stay at Campsite #1 at Back Yard Campground. First Patricia and Scott were very responsive to a couple pre booking questions which was important in making my decision to book two nights. The site was as described - spacious and flat - as I sleep in an F-150. The couple things that really stood out. It’s fall and there’s leaves everywhere. Except in my campsite. Not sure when it was blown clean though it was evident it was quite recent. Secondly I expected the outdoor shower house water to be “ambient temperature” however it’s actually hot water! That’s awesome especially for this time of year. Patricia and Scott stopped by my second day and we had a great conversation. Super nice people. With that on my usual twice a year mountain bike trips to the area there’s absolutely no reason to camp anywhere else in the future.

Nice site. Good pinic table. Land was mostly flat. Land is sandy, so expect some sand on your feet. Shower a nice big building with "on demand" hot water, so it never runs out. The sink had no water at the tap due to a water leak. Suggest they fix this soon. Road noise is loud during the day, but mostly quiet at night. The water tap is near the shower building. Toilet is a portable John. It was clean, but a toilet with running water would be nicer. There was no one else staying there during our two night. The site are spread out, so camping neighbors will be seperated sufficiently. The camp ground is 6 minutes away from the Dupont Forest, so the location is great. Overall it was a good camp ground, I would stay there again.

A literal chicken coop and everything was as advertised. The hosts provided detailed check in instructions. Only about .5 mile from the REEB Ranch if you’re racing BWR.

While not in area for fun, it’s close to state parks and reasonably so for Hendersonville. Good job on redecorating the chicken coop, with heat still get some ammonia smell. Sound of the creek nice at night, wonderfully dark for stars.

Stayed at this campsite in 2019 and chose to come back again for another Dupont adventure. Love campsite #3 for tent camping. Large site with privacy right beside the portajohn and firewood. It is also right next to a lovely creek and farm, enjoyed hearing the water along with the cows and roosters. Super convenient if you're visiting Dupont State Forest as the road with all of the trailheads is just around the corner. Thanks for another pleasant stay and will be back! 😊

The Coup -Deville

The coup-a-cabana was everything promised and more. Tranquility of nature and a hard running creek with a fire pit and picnic table outside while the true value is the coup itself. The front porch is tight but enough room for 2 to hang out and cook on the included Coleman propane grill. The hammocks are great to relax and sleep in. Seamlessly converting from bed to chair with absolutely zero actual converting. The area stayed cool enough in the day time (we are talking 3pm in late August) that with a fan positioned in the window we were able to hang out in the coup. We did end up bringing an air mattress in and taking one hammock down as this was more familiar to my 6 year old. 10/10 would recommend and the on site portajohn and shower house was a great and welcome addition to our normal camping routine. Great property and great hosts!

We brought our bus to camp for the weekend. Campsite #1 was perfect for parking and setting up camp. The site was spacious and had enough shade during the sunny part of the day. We enjoyed cooling off in the creek during the hot part of the day and sitting by the fire in the evening. The shower house was an added bonus for primitive camping. We will definitely recommend others to come here and will return as well.

We enjoyed a beautiful stay at the campground! We felt like it was a reasonable price, the setting was beautiful, and it was close to Dupont where we were mountain biking. My kids were thrilled to camp “in a garden“ and we enjoyed access to the creek. It was not a problem for us, but do be aware that there’s no phone service. We will stay here again!

This is my go-to place to camp when I come to ride DuPont. Easy access and quiet. Good night sleep! Ten minutes from the trails. No frills. Just how I like it.

Great location!! Quick access to lots of great mountain bike trails. My only complaint is the shower was on the slippery side. Otherwise I had a great stay.

The bathroom was not in optimal conditions to use it, the customer service not good, My son and I knocked on the door and they did not answer, we decided not to stay in the camp and get another one in the area with a better bathroom. I don't recommend it.

Great sleeping above brook

I really enjoyed my stay here. It was so peaceful and bucolic. I enjoyed the sounds of the farm animals and the bubbling brook. I slept really well. Site 3 is large and somewhat private as the other sites are on the opposite side of the barn, but the shared porta potty is adjacent to this site. It rained a bit during my stay and the site seems to drain well. As this is way back behind the owner property, I felt safe here and was never worried about my bike. The porta party was very clean and well equipped, including with hand sanitizer. The shower is around the other side of the property. It works fine, was clean and spacious, but the temp does wobble a bit between very hot and coolish. Property owner told me to help myself to wood which was a nice bonus, even though I had brought my own. The driveway was a bit rough and uneven but I managed fine in my Prius.

Home base for local adventures

This was a great home base while exploring the area. There is a delightful creek running through the area and lots of neighboring farm animals to see and hear. Great shower facilities

Wonderful family weekend

We had such a great time! The whole property was beautiful and well kept. The campsite was lovely with shade and sun areas. My kids enjoyed swimming in the creek to cool off. There was everything we needed, fresh drinking water, some free firewood, clean porter potty, an outlet at the sweet clean easy to use shower which we used for blowing up air mattress. There were even solar lights around the picnic table! We loved it. The hosts were very accessible to answer questions and got back to me quickly. I 100 percent recommend and we will definitely be staying again! Such a close drive to the best waterfall swimming holes and close to a sweet fruit stand yet you feel like you’re out in nature! Thank you!

"Hidden Treasure", sweet bungalow!

I loved staying at the "Coop-Ahhh Cabana"! I was a little nervous as this was the first time camping alone, but felt very safe. Even though hammocks were provided I brought my own cot for sleeping. The lanterns, camp stove, cooking utensils, coffee press, and mugs were much appreciated. I utilized the hot shower following my hike at DuPont National Forest it clean and exceeded my expectations. The location was perfect for short drive to Brevard for lunch and shopping.

Single girl, trying to get away!

Best little cabin in Penrose. This little cabin has everything you need. From towels, dishes, coffee maker, microwave and small fridge. Decorated nice. Comfort of living. Plenty of blankets. Has been recently remodeled. A new outdoor grill with all the utensils. A covered little sitting area. Has own shower and composting toilet. Directions were right on. Great location between Bevard and Hendersonville. Close to a lot of trails and waterfalls. Pisgah National Forest. The Best host, Scott is always amazing and very helpful.
