This little haven was exactly what we were hoping for this trip - immersion in the outdoors with a few more amenities than just plain camping. Elizabeth’s place was so thoughtfully and creatively designed, and it truly was peaceful. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Babbling Brook Treehouse
We had a great time. It was such a beautiful and relaxing setting - just what we needed to unplug and connect for a long weekend. Elizabeth was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to help us feel welcome. Our 2.5 year old son had so much fun splashing in the river and visiting with the farm animals. Would totally recommend!!

Camping here was great! The Hillside site had more than I normally look for in a camp site, including an awesome cooking/prep area, a lovely platform for my tent, and so many included supplies that I was able to dramatically cut what I normally pack. The creekside area is gorgeous. I'm ready to come back with a group of friends!

This little piece of unplugged heaven was perfect for our getaway. Super fun to explore the area and easy to find. The hosts were great and very welcoming. We’d love to go back.

Babbling Brook Treehouse
Elizabeth and Mark were wonderful hosts. It was such a treat getting to tour their farm and meet the friendliest donkeys, goats, and dogs. They loved the attention, it was so cute. We were even gifted some fresh laid eggs that we had for breakfast the next morning. The treehouse is fully stocked, with a grill, camp stove, pots, pans, dishes, COFFEE, and everything!
Elizabeth is also super attentive, quick to respond on the app, and, I can't help but tell this story... We had to call them on our first night to rescue us from a very intimidating spider! We were nervous to ask for help, thinking they might act like we were wimps for not being able to deal with it on our own, but Mark came down decked out in what looked like a beekeeper suit with poison spray, and Elizabeth had her pellet gun ready for battle! It was hilarious and incredible, and we are forever grateful for their bravery and how seriously they took the situation! We would definitely stay here again.
Advice for future campers: Bring good lanterns and headlamps and leave your kitchen items at home!

Such a lovely experience! My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Happy Hillside. Elizabeth and Mark were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Elizabeth was communicative from start to finish. The site was incredibly well-stocked. We loved the thoughtful touches like flowers, games, a creekside hangout area, and a rock painting set. The composting toilet was the best we’ve used, with daily cleanings and no odor. The optional farm experience was also fun! We loved meeting the animals and we got to cook our fresh eggs for breakfast the following day.
Some heads-ups: the terrain includes stairs/levels, so consider that if you have knee issues. On two nights, we heard barking from a neighbor’s dog (they raise dogs), but it may not be a permanent situation. Light sleepers may want earplugs and/or a sound app. I had to use both but my friend went without either and slept great.
Elizabeth’s three sweet dogs visited often, which we loved. The new sleeping hammocks were comfy and fun to try out. Peaceful yet close to town. We highly recommend!

Elizabeth & Mark are wonderful host. The room feels like a cozy cabin & is stocked with everything you need. I enjoyed my farm fresh eggs each morning on the front porch while watching the animals go about their daily routine. If your into mountain biking, the trails of Kerr/Scott are only 15 minutes away.

Very cute campsite! It was fairly secluded and near the stream. The walk from parking to site is steep and quite a few steps. However, there are a lot of necessities at the site so you don’t need to carry much down. Pots, pans, utensils and plates, Coleman stove, gas grill, propane included. Water dispenser for collecting water from the fresh water source. Even some consumables. The location is convenient to several parks. We went hiking and fishing during our trip. We also visited Stardust cellars, Holeman Distillery and the Wilkes Heritage Museum, all well worth a visit!

Birds Nest Tent and Hammock Camping
We had a great weekend staying at the newly-constructed Birds' Nest Tent and Hammock site! It was well-equipped and just what we wanted for a weekend getaway, and Elizabeth and Mark were extremely helpful & hospitable. It was a nice bonus to go see their farm & animals at a time that was convenient for them also - it is their home, so we wanted to be respectful of their privacy and time.
Pack light - it's a bit of a walk downhill to the site, and she has a lot of things you may need down there already! Water shoes for playing in the creek were well worth bringing along with a bundle of dry, larger firewood. It's a great site, would recommend.

Our stay was amazing. Came in for just one night for a concert we have been looking forward to. Elizabeth was fantastic and communicated well. Her place was tucked off the beaten path but so perfect. A little bit of a hike I must say so pack accordingly :). Such a peaceful place for our little getaway. We will definitely stay here again.

Birds Nest Tent and Hammock Camping
Great environment! I really enjoyed the homey feel to the camp ground. We got away for a weekend and it was an awesome Experience. If you love dogs, her dogs stayed with us for most the night! They are so sweet and not aggressive! Lots of things to do! I would highly recommend!

We had a lovely experience at the Babbling Brook Treehouse! We went with our two children, who loved playing hide-and-seek and walking across the slackline. We even met the animals and got a chance to milk a goat! Elizabeth is a GEM—such a kind and welcoming host. I expect that we will return again, and I would recommend it!

My goodness, we found a gem! Elizabeth and Mark (and of course their doggo Seth who is on the welcoming committee!) were also gems - very kind, accommodating, sincere, and thoughtful! The sound of the brook was so lovely, the privacy was perfect, the setup was a perfect balance of woodsy and convenient, the price was so good, all of the solar lighting and cute signs everywhere were so inviting, and all of the amenities provided (chairs, hammocks, cookware, etc) made packing so much less stressful which is exactly what you want for a mini vacation! We really were just looking for a serene place to camp and this was exactly that. The location was perfect as we went there to mountain bike at Warrior Creek.
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend it! :)

Happy Hillside Tent & Hammock Camp
A quiet and relaxing camp site with multiple areas to investigate and enjoy. The communications with Elizabeth were easy and fast and the additional directions to the site were very helpful and appreciated, especially in the dark of the night. The camp is very well stocked with all the basics you might need. Hammocks and chairs in the natural area and by the water were fun to lounge in. We enjoyed our time on the Happy Hillside very much! We will be back to sleep in the hammocks :)

We had a great trip. Elizabeth welcomed us when we arrived. She showed us around and even pointed out some medicinal plants. The campsite had a portable stove and composte toilet, which was a bonus. Elizabeth was ver accommodating and we enjoyed our little time relaxing.

I loved camping at Elizabeths place. It was a site that you could bring your family to and stay entertained for an entire weekend without leaving once. You can tell right away that she puts in a lot work and heart into making her property fun and welcoming for visitors.

My husband and I stayed at The Nest Over Peaceful Pastures for the weekend and LOVED it!!
Everything was set up and ready to go for us so we could just relax. Elizabeth met us to show us around and how to get fresh water, shower, etc.
It was just the retreat we needed and can't wait to get back with our kids!!

This place is amazing!!!! Beautiful quiet stay close enough to home, yet far enough out to get away. Elizabeth was amazing. She met us upon arrival, and gave us the grand tour. Great place to go and get away with plenty of the outdoor essentials already on site. The birds nest was a treat. Cozy and comfortable. THANKS AGAIN!!!!!

Our weekend at the Bird Nest was just what we needed. It was quiet and restful. We really enjoyed all of the creative details of the property. Everything we needed was there for us and the bed was so comfortable!
Elizabeth kindly met us when we arrived and showed us around.

Liz was such a wonderful host! Our cabin had everything we could have needed and more. She has thought of everything! My daughters and nieces loved playing in the stream and being outside. We will be back as soon as possible!

This was our first time camping in NC and it could not have been more perfect. Even though it was a hot day it was several degrees cooler at the actual camp spot. There was a creek to cool off in as well. Our favorite part of the stay was seeing fireflies for the first time in our life! It was so magical! We absolutely want to come back in the future.

We loved our stay at the tree house! The land is gorgeous and the property surrounding the tree house was lush and magical. The stream entertained my daughter and I for hours as we looked for crayfish, frogs and salamanders. Rock painting, hammocks over the stream, and slack line were extras that made the trip memorable. Getting off the grid for a long weekend at in nature was exactly what we needed. I hope to come back next year!
