Before the Kerr Scott Reservoir was built, in the 40's and 50's, this neighborhood was a local swimming hole and vacation area. Public buses came from neighboring communities so people could boat, swim, camp, and picnic. While we don't have access to the pond, our part of this land still is calling out to people, 'Come, rest, unload your burdens, and find peace.' When we started this project with Hipcamp, we didn't fully realize that we were reconnecting with the history on this property. So, come, take your shoes off, and wade in the creek. Read a book while laying in a hammock. Sit by the fire and chat with family and friends. Come and participate in our little homesteading project, and leave your burdens behind. LOCAL ACTIVITIES: To the west is the Blue Ridge Parkway, which is 30 minutes away. 15 minutes away is Kerr Scott Dam where you can rent kayaks, pontoon boats, as well as other sporting equipment. Fish, go mountain biking on the extensive trails, and hiking. Prayer Mountain is right up the road, about 2 miles away. Heading east, you can find several fine wineries andvineyards that you can visit. There is also a moonshine distillery in town. About a half hour away is an Amish community that has several businesses open to the public, including the Shiloh Bakery and General Store. They are closed on Sunday and Monday. To the northeast, about 45 minutes away, is Stone Mountain. Absolutely fantastic hiking, it is also an old homestead that has been renovated and is open to the public. To the south, there is Rocky Face Park, where there is hiking and rock climbing. Nearby, is Emerald Hollow Mine, where you can go and find, and keep, precious stones you find in the nearby river. There is also a great disk course course, Highland Hills Disc Golf Course, one of the top 25 in the country. There is fun for all ages. Merlefest, the last weekend of April, is a world class Bluegrass festival, is located right in our town. Be sure to look at the activities section below for additional information.

"Great for casual, first time campers." ~ Holli Sit under a canopy of trees on the 12x16 deck which overlooks the creek and wetlands below. Listen to the water flow by and the frogs chirp as the night rolls in. This unique and primitive site includes many essential items and amenities in the dry kitchen. This includes a Coleman Stove, a grill for the fire ring, cookware, eating utensils, as well as other odds and ends. You barely need to pack a thing! Follow the path down the steep incline, where you will have access to the mountain stream. Pump the fresh, mountain spring water at the spring box and use it for drinking, washing, doing dishes, cooking. Even if you are an inexperienced camper, this is a great opportunity to develop a new skill without to having to spend a lot of money. Come and and see if camping is for you. Comfortable Camping. This campsite is set up with ease in mind. There is a private outhouse, kitchen amenities, several chairs, and a small picnic table. There are two sets of hammocks, the common ones, open to the sky, and the ones for camping (with a rainfly and mosquito netting). Let me know which you prefer. RULES FOR DOGS! We welcome dogs. Your dog must be friendly with people and other dogs. Please make sure your dogs are vaccinated, socialized, and quiet. We want keep our dog fees affordable. They may in contact with other campers dogs. Disclaimer: This property is on a steep embankment, with many steps, that can be slippery when wet. We do our best to make things safe. However, we are not responsible if you hurt yourself.

Camping-Lite. Great for first time campers, or seasoned campers who just want something a little bit less rustic. Come camping in Moravian Falls. Take a 5 minutes walk down the steep hillside to our 20 x 20 camping deck. This site is embraced by a wooded hillside and bordered by a mountain valley where horses graze and a stream runs. This is our most private site. You can set up your tent under 10x20 open shelter. On the other side of the deck, there is a picnic table, Coleman Stove, and a variety of amenities. We have also included camping hammocks on the deck if you wish to use those instead of bringing your own tent. Walk down the stairs of the deck and sit by the campfire, grill your food on the grate, or cook some dinner on the rocket stove. Wander down the path to the common area and wade in the creek up to the waterfall. Or have a campfire at the water's edge. Hang out in a hammock. There is also a small play ground for children. You can also hand pump fresh mountain spring water for drinking, cooking, and washing. Ask about coming up and visiting our farm. The goats always like to be pet.

Get away from everyday life, and experience homestead living in a primitive cabin with no electricity and no running water. Listen to the creek, the tree frogs singing their night time song, and the birds waking the dawn. This mountain hollow is a great place for rest, play, and unplug from everyday life. The cabin is bordered by a creek and surrounded by mature trees, hills, and a wetland. There is a double bed and a queen size bed. Bring tents for a larger group. There is plenty of room on the deck and down below next to the creek. Walk down the steep hillside to the 12x12 insulated, rustic cabin. The cabin has been extended with a large, partially covered, deck. The Tree House hangs off of a rock ledge. Whether rain or shine, this location is peaceful, private, and serene. Large trees dapple the acre sized, private site.  Wade into the shallow stream, get your feet wet and walk up to the waterfall, sit on the deck,  hang in a hammock and, rest near the fire pit. The interior of the cabin is small, simple. There is a very small dry kitchen, with is well supplied. The loft has a queen sized bed. The main floor has a futon that opens into a double bed. If you are party larger than 4 people, you are free to put up a tent on the deck or below, next to the creek. There is plenty of room to set up a tents if you have a larger family, or small group. We can discuss if your group is a good fit for this site. The kitchen has cabinets for some storage and a place for food preparation. To make your stay easier, we have many amenities, food items, as well as cooking  equipment. On the deck there is Coleman camping stove and a gas grill available for your use. Cozy Cottage Farm Stay

"Glamping-ish" Come and visit our mini farm for a few days. Hug a mini donkey. Pet the goats.  If you want to know more about having a small farmstead, we'd love to answer your questions, if we are able. This 16x10 cottage is on our farm, attached to the barn, and near to our home. It is private. The tiny house has electricity, WiFi, small appliances, (fridge, microwave, hot place, toaster oven, coffee pot, etc) , heat and A/C. There is a comfy double bed, sitting area, and wood stove. The composting toilet is outside the front door. There is also a traditional outhouse a few steps away. Outside, there is a sink, with cold, running, well water. If you want to take a shower, you may use our house. Just ask and schedule a time. Drink your morning coffee and watch the livestock graze, and the chickens scratch right outside your front door.  Did you know that a donkey's bray sounds more like a donkey opera? The cottage site is fenced in to keep the livestock out, if that is your wish. We will instruct you on livestock protocol. While our animals are gentle, they are livestock, stronger, and bigger than you, and can cause injury. We are not responsible for that. Beyond the farm site, you will also have access to the creek, about a 5 minute walk down the hill. There is a common area where our campers are free to gather, sitting by the creek, have a campfire, or just relax and reading a book. No dogs please. My dogs do not like strange dogs and can be unfriendly. Please consider our other sites as well. They will be listed to the right of this site on your computer screen. Dogs are allowed down at the sites down at the camp, The Babbling Brook Treehouse , Happy Hillside Hammock Camping, and the Bird's Nest. All sites are unique and are within walking distance of each other.

Babbling Brook Treehouse
I loved spending several nights in the treehouse. I came prepared for colder weather so I had plenty of warm clothes, hand and feet warmers, and propane for the buddy heater and Coleman stove, both of which I used and appreciated. It rained during part of my stay which was magical on the tin roof. The creek babbled. I found dry firewood and kindling prior to the rain, and paired with firewood I brought I enjoyed several campfires. The water accessible pump/kitchen came in handy as the treehouse doesn’t have water or electricity. The attached compostable toilet was convenient and never smelled funky. The cabin is stocked with all the kitchen things you might want for cooking. There were plenty of blankets and I slept snug as a bug in the comfy loft bed. I did rescue a spider or two and released into the wild. As expected for a treehouse in their habitat. Parking for one car was convenient atop a walkway to the treehouse. I enjoyed a farm visit with Elizabeth and learned about her goats horses and more. Her dogs came to visit a few times. Overall I couldn’t have been more happy. It helped to come prepared for the cooler weather paired with Elizabeth’s thoughtful touches. While there are solar lights in and around the cabin, make sure to bring headlamps and/or other light sources. It felt whimsical and dreamy and I can’t wait to return. Thanks Elizabeth!

This is a fantastic place! The host is incredibly friendly and accommodating. They even assisted us with a flat tire we encountered during our stay. The highlight for me was being above ground; it was quiet, peaceful, and beautiful. I loved my time here and would return! Thank you Elizabeth:)

Cozy Cottage Farm Stay
We had the absolute best stay at the little adjacent barn. Very special to have all the sweet animals all around us. The cottage has everything you need, including fresh eggs and coffee/tea. We had a fire in the fire pit with wood provided. Elizabeth has some awesome recommendations for things to do in the area, which we took her up on and thoroughly enjoyed. Good people, good time!!! Highly recommend this peaceful stay in nature.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ They really have thought of everything you may need! We had such a fun and easy stay. Each site has its own unique features to enjoy along with a very homey, cozy, and welcoming vibe. Elizabeth and her husband were nothing but warm, friendly, and helpful. They even have a petting zoo and slack line! 10/10 would recommend. We stayed at the birds nest site with our pup and it seemed to be the most private. We didn’t even need to pitch a tent as we just slept in the open under the shelter. Thanks again!

A really special stay. We were a group of friends from different areas and we loved staying here. Some of us camped and some stayed in the little cabin. The owners can’t be nicer. They’re responsive with communication and every detail is thought out. We had a toddler with us and she loved visiting the animals (horses, donkeys, chickens, goats…) BRP is about 40 mins away, and Boone is 50 mins away. Very convenient. We would love to come back. Thank you for having us!!

This was the perfect mix of primitive camping and glamping! It had everything we needed without feeling like we weren't in a natural setting. The entire property was beautiful and well kept, and Elizabeth was was a gracious host!

Beautiful spot! Loved camping at the Birds nest. Cool temps and no bugs meant we didn't need to pitch a tent, we just slept under the roof. Elizabeth couldn't have been a more gracious of a host. Highly recommend.

Our kids loved our stay. They spent time trying to catch fish in the creek, throwing mud, and tending fire. Mama loved that I could sleep in a bed and that there were plenty of stores nearby for forgotten items. We met goats and donkeys and watched butterflies flit around the garden. It was a great day!

This is such a gem of a spot. We enjoyed the private firepit and the sounds of the brook and cicadas at night. The provided equipment made cooking and morning coffee easy. Elizabeth met us and showed us around, she's so sweet and accommodating. Thank you for a great weekend!!

Birds Nest Tent and Hammock Camping
We had a wonderful stay at the Bird’s Nest Campground at Elizabeth’s Place! Our family of six camped here and it was absolutely perfect. Elizabeth greeted us warmly, gave us a tour of the property, and made sure we had everything we needed to feel comfortable. She even took the time to show our 6- and 9-year-old around their beautiful farm, which was such a special experience for them. The campsite itself was well thought out and had everything we needed for cooking—just bring your own food and firewood. That made things so easy, especially with a big family. The location was ideal too, with plenty of hiking options nearby that kept us busy exploring the outdoors. We felt so welcomed, cared for, and at ease the entire time. Highly recommend staying here—we’ll definitely be back!

We had a great time. It was such a beautiful and relaxing setting - just what we needed to unplug and connect for a long weekend. Elizabeth was a fantastic host and went above and beyond to help us feel welcome. Our 2.5 year old son had so much fun splashing in the river and visiting with the farm animals. Would totally recommend!!

Camping here was great! The Hillside site had more than I normally look for in a camp site, including an awesome cooking/prep area, a lovely platform for my tent, and so many included supplies that I was able to dramatically cut what I normally pack. The creekside area is gorgeous. I'm ready to come back with a group of friends!

Babbling Brook Treehouse
Elizabeth and Mark were wonderful hosts. It was such a treat getting to tour their farm and meet the friendliest donkeys, goats, and dogs. They loved the attention, it was so cute. We were even gifted some fresh laid eggs that we had for breakfast the next morning. The treehouse is fully stocked, with a grill, camp stove, pots, pans, dishes, COFFEE, and everything! Elizabeth is also super attentive, quick to respond on the app, and, I can't help but tell this story... We had to call them on our first night to rescue us from a very intimidating spider! We were nervous to ask for help, thinking they might act like we were wimps for not being able to deal with it on our own, but Mark came down decked out in what looked like a beekeeper suit with poison spray, and Elizabeth had her pellet gun ready for battle! It was hilarious and incredible, and we are forever grateful for their bravery and how seriously they took the situation! We would definitely stay here again. Advice for future campers: Bring good lanterns and headlamps and leave your kitchen items at home!

Such a lovely experience! My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Happy Hillside. Elizabeth and Mark were warm, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable. Elizabeth was communicative from start to finish. The site was incredibly well-stocked. We loved the thoughtful touches like flowers, games, a creekside hangout area, and a rock painting set. The composting toilet was the best we’ve used, with daily cleanings and no odor. The optional farm experience was also fun! We loved meeting the animals and we got to cook our fresh eggs for breakfast the following day. Some heads-ups: the terrain includes stairs/levels, so consider that if you have knee issues. On two nights, we heard barking from a neighbor’s dog (they raise dogs), but it may not be a permanent situation. Light sleepers may want earplugs and/or a sound app. I had to use both but my friend went without either and slept great. Elizabeth’s three sweet dogs visited often, which we loved. The new sleeping hammocks were comfy and fun to try out. Peaceful yet close to town. We highly recommend!

Cozy Cottage Farm Stay
Elizabeth & Mark are wonderful host. The room feels like a cozy cabin & is stocked with everything you need. I enjoyed my farm fresh eggs each morning on the front porch while watching the animals go about their daily routine. If your into mountain biking, the trails of Kerr/Scott are only 15 minutes away.

Very cute campsite! It was fairly secluded and near the stream. The walk from parking to site is steep and quite a few steps. However, there are a lot of necessities at the site so you don’t need to carry much down. Pots, pans, utensils and plates, Coleman stove, gas grill, propane included. Water dispenser for collecting water from the fresh water source. Even some consumables. The location is convenient to several parks. We went hiking and fishing during our trip. We also visited Stardust cellars, Holeman Distillery and the Wilkes Heritage Museum, all well worth a visit!

We had a great weekend staying at the newly-constructed Birds' Nest Tent and Hammock site! It was well-equipped and just what we wanted for a weekend getaway, and Elizabeth and Mark were extremely helpful & hospitable. It was a nice bonus to go see their farm & animals at a time that was convenient for them also - it is their home, so we wanted to be respectful of their privacy and time. Pack light - it's a bit of a walk downhill to the site, and she has a lot of things you may need down there already! Water shoes for playing in the creek were well worth bringing along with a bundle of dry, larger firewood. It's a great site, would recommend.

Our stay was amazing. Came in for just one night for a concert we have been looking forward to. Elizabeth was fantastic and communicated well. Her place was tucked off the beaten path but so perfect. A little bit of a hike I must say so pack accordingly :). Such a peaceful place for our little getaway. We will definitely stay here again.
