Asheville Escape
Katherine was lovely, and the camping spot looked like it would have been great. We were not able to stay there with our 28’ trailer. Only a very tiny trailer would be able to fit in the camping area and still be able to turn around and get back out of the driveway. That’s said, I really wish we could have stayed, as Katherine seemed very friendly.

The camp spot & host were nice but the space for camping was not nearly as big as i expected. In fact, i would suggest no more than 2 tent campers at one time or only 1 SMALL camper trailer (ie, pop-up, etc). Otherwise, it will be too tight. We had a relatively short camper (18 ft.) and if anyone had been camping when we left, we would not have had room to get out unless they moved their tent. Other than tight space, it was a sweet spot that's very convenient to downtown Asheville.

Asheville Escape
Great location close to Asheville. Site recommended on the property was great except for the streat light shining all night. Gas grill worked well and the owners were gracious to share their home. All in all a good experience.

Asheville Escape
Asheville Escape is is located in Fairview, North Carolina which is about a 20 minute drive from downtown Asheville, maybe even less if there’s no traffic getting out of town. If you’re coming from Asheville, be sure to check out all the VW buses and vans on the right hand side of the road at this repair shop called Asheville Vee Dub. It’s a vanlifer’s dream! Another place worth checking out is Mountain Mojo - home to some great coffee!
And then just like that, you’ll make a quick off the main road, climb a short hill and then you’re at the site! It has a good bit of privacy and shelter from noise as well as about two acres for you to roam. As usual, we brought our dog, Maybelle with us and she had no problem getting comfortable after a walk around the property.
We arrived early and did something unusual for us: we got carryout instead of making camp food. Gan Shan Station in Asheville was just too hard to pass up. It's one of our favorite restaurants in the city and when we saw we were driving by, all of our other dinner plans (boxed mac and cheese) went out the window. If you've never had pork belly ramen by a campfire, you're missing out. One of life's divine pleasures and something I will be repeating as soon as possible!
After eating, we spent the evening around the campfire just telling story and catching up and then our eyes got heavy-lidded and it was into the camper we went for a few minutes of reading and then deep heavy sleep.
If you're looking for a place with access to the city (and it's food!) and a place where you can bring your dog, consider this one. Though there are some lights on telephone poles that had an impact on seeing stars and total darkness, overall this is a really great place to spend an evening and we'd recommend it to anyone looking for a mixture of rural and city.
