Wallkill River Camping

We absolutely LOVED the farm! We had a group of 16 and there was plenty of space and benches/two picnic tables to use. We also had many tents and there was rain in the forecast (it did end up raining), so Sarah was really helpful with tips on where to set up the tents to best ensure we stayed dry (which we did)! She was extremely good with communication. The outhouse was very clean and nice, and had lots of little utility items to borrow/buy as needed! We forgot a can opener so that saved us :) Overall great stay, the farm is beautiful, and we would stay again for sure!

Easy to find the spot and it was well laid out with fire pit, chairs, table, and ample soft ground for tent camping down hill toward the river.

A beautiful & amazing place to stay (rain or shine) haha. We had one heck of a storm the night we were there, but it was still great. An amazingly clean porta potty. Sarah even checked on us to make sure we made it safely out after the storm. Very private.

Private nest in the woods.

Site 3 is definitely more cozy and private, if that's what you're looking for. Plenty of space on the site for 1 or two tents, plus table and campfire. Because it is more wooded, and near the field, you do have to be mindful of ticks. You can also have your tent down by the rivers edge if you'd rather. Lots of nature to see and adventures to be had. Space for kite flying and baseball and kicking a ball around. The walk to the outhouse is peaceful, less than 5 minutes, and the outhouse is fine for an outhouse! We brought incense to burn for those less-than-floral smells. Sarah is great, helpful and thorough. We had all we needed and will be back for another relaxing getaway!

Field and river views!

This is a great place to camp! Site #2 is definitely a 'field' site, as the path for everyone is just alongside the site/view of the field. Beautiful view of the river from up top, but if you feel like putting your tent closer to the river, there's a path to the side that will take you down to waters edge. Our group chose to have our tents down by the water and cooking up top at the tables. Such a lovely, peaceful place, had everything we needed. The outhouse was clean and stocked. The grill was easy and available. There is plenty of privacy between sites, but it really only takes a few minutes to walk between them. Sarah is so lovely to communicate with and more than helpful with every detail. We'll definitely be back!

Peace and adventure all in one!

Our group of 19 adults and 12 kids LOVED camping at Wallkill River! Because of the size of our group, we reserved all 3 sites, but it's so spacious, we may not have needed to. We ended up having Site 1 as our 'kitchen/community space' and then we put all our tents down along the river level in front of #2 and #3 for quiet/privacy/space between the action and resting. #1- Sarah was an AMAZING host. While I don't recommend Hipcamp if you want good customer service, I recommend Sarah if you want a kind, communicative, helpful host. She was more than accommodating when I made some booking errors that resulted in huge modification fees. She worked with me to cancel and then rebook our trip to avoid those. #2- Sarah was superhost at the site itself: had little camping bags with glowsticks for the kids, had our firewood stacked and ready to use, enough toilet paper/supplies in the outhouse for us, and plenty of info for us if we needed. Her dad Paul stopped by to make sure we had enough firewood and we had a long and friendly chat with him. #3- The property itself is so peaceful and calm and we loved getting to explore it. One sunny evening, we had a post-dinner walk where we adventured along the river path, over a small waterfall/stream and accidentally stumbled onto the neighbors property. They were very kind and helped us reroute back to the farm. I'm running out of space to write more, but we will not hesitate to book again with Sarah!

Spent a birthday weekend here at the end of April with 9 friends. While the Spring weather was iffy, the site and layout was AMAZING. There is nighttime lighting, paths, chairs and benches, a very clean and well-supplied bathroom, and a bunch else I can't rattle off. The river is beautiful and quiet, seems to be a couple turns downstream from the town so it's out of the sound of the road. Sarah the host was BEYOND generous and amazing. Had some issues that were resolved so far above what I could have imagined, she is truly a gem which is reflected in the beauty of the campsite! Sorry, meant to say but I was at Site 1!

Highly recommend!!!!! Sarah’s property is spectacular! We had such a great time camping on site 1. The view was amazing, and overall very peaceful I will certainly come back and recommend! Sarah was a great host. Answered questions immediately and was very accommodating . We will be back !!

What a great site. Has to be my favorite camping site so far. Well kept and secluded without feeling to far from others. This morning as the sun came up, I've never heard so many varieties of birds singing before. I should've recorded it. I will be back in a few weeks.

I had a great time camping by the river. The site was nice and clean and full of grass for my dog and I to play and lay on. The sites, when dry enough, are right on the riverside so you’ll always have a gorgeous view of it. The hosts were also very kind and pleasant to talk to. I’m pretty sure I’ll be back soon if the weather permits it.

Beautiful site. Felt nice and private. Really appreciated the host’s attentiveness and the grill! Would stay here again. There are hunters in the area so be aware you may hear gunshots.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here! The property is gorgeous, well-kept, and there's a ton of space. It's also very private, because the campsites are spread so far apart. At site 3 there’s actually two places you can set up camp (both with a fire pit and picnic table) — a shady spot in the trees on the small hill, or on the beautiful lawn area by the river. The hosts were super-friendly and welcoming, and even let us pick some raspberries on the farm. It’s also only about a 5 minute drive to City Winery, which is a cool place and has great food and wine. Definitely plan on returning next year!

Great spot for camping on the river, ample room to park and pitch tents, and beautiful surroundings. It was nice to have a small grill as an alternative to the campfire. Hosts were communicative and welcoming, we would gladly camp here again!

It was an excellent site. There is a lot of space to stretch out and the site was very clean. There are other sites on the land, but still a lot of privacy and seclusion. I will definitely plan to stay again.

Great Stay

Loved camping at this cozy little spot. I was looking for a place that felt isolated without being cutoff from the world and the river spot fit the bill. The river was relaxing, the fish were jumping, and even with other campers at the nearby sites I never saw them. If you’re looking for an all-round solid spot for a good camping experience, this is it.

The site was beautiful, quiet, and very well maintained. The outhouse was very clean and well stocked. Our kids loved fishing in the river and catching frogs while spotting beautiful birds (cranes, hawks). The owners were very kind and communicative throughout. Super easy drive to Lake Minnewaska and New Paltz.
