The Upper Shire Private Campsites in the Hudson Valley are on a gorgeous hill with a small pond surrounded by 22 acres of an old horse ranch. It is located in Columbia County near the Massachusetts and New York border. There are currently 5 unique camping areas located here. Each one is special due to its location on the hill. Check out our map and enjoy our spacious yet secluded campsites and our new off-grid double shower shack with hot and cold water on demand. This place has a relaxed atmosphere and is located near Catamount Ski Resort, Bash Bish Falls, Taconic State Park, Hudson NY, and Great Barrington, MA. If you plan on bringing a pet please be sure to add that fee to your booking under "extras" ($25) If you have additional guest(s) that would like to join you that fee is ($25 a night per person) and you will need to message us about how to arrange that. We have extra easy pop-up two-person tents available to rent ($15 for two nights) you can also find that option under "extras" along with bundles of firewood ($15)

Off Grid A-Frame Cabin by The Pond

Loved it!!

We loved staying in the A frame, it was breezy at night, the fire pit was great, and Joanna is a fantastic host! The cabin has a small generator so there are lights at night and you can even use a power outlet or USB to charge your phone. We explored the property and it is lovely, and the outdoor shower is a delight.

Pondside Meadow

So quiet and beautiful. The grounds are impeccably maintained. Had access to a bathroom and shower which was amazing. Saw lots of wildlife in the area.

Off Grid A-Frame Cabin by The Pond

Amaze.!

I really enjoyed the stay on the camping place, the area was awesome, super clean, and very enjoyable, we can even make a lot of food in just the pit.! I definitely come back in a next chance.! Tanks for everything Joana.!

Fun Times!

My family and I loved camping on Joanna’s land! The site was easy to find and everything we expected. The views from the site were beautiful. Joanna was a great host and had great suggestions for food and things to do. We appreciate the great communication and accommodation. We hope to come back soon! I would recommend Joanna’s land for a great camping experience. :)

Upper Shire Meadow

This is our second stay at the Upper Shire and it was everything we remembered from last year! This site perfectly accommodated a small tow-behind camper and two tents. There was also plenty of room for our 3 dogs to explore! Joanna even gave us a tip about a creek for the dogs to swim in that was just a short drive and totally worth it on a hot day! The only downside is that the gnats swarm in the mid-morning and early evening, but that's camping! We didn't take advantage of the new shower, but we did check it out and it's gorgeous. Highly recommend this spot!

Pondside Meadow

Perfect summer camping getaway

This was our 2nd time back at the pond site and we had a lovely time! The added shower was amazing and one of the best outdoor shower experiences I’ve ever had camping. Joanna’s land is very peaceful and just what we needed for a nice weekend getaway with a couple of our closest friends. We’d love to check out the other sites next time! Highly recommend!
